MADE IN THE SUEDE

suede-trench-car

I don’t know about you but I love suede; it is luxurious without being pretentious and is the perfect transition fabric from fall to winter or winter to spring because it provides a layer of extra warmth that many of the new manufactured textiles are lacking. The other great thing about suede is it doesn’t take the eye of a stylist to pull a look together you can pair it with almost anything for an instant pop of style. There are only two simple rules to follow when wearing suede:

RULE #1-BEWARE OF TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT layer yourself on suede. It is so rich and distinctive that too much of it leaves your outfit looking heavy and overdone, kind of like the feeling you have after eating too much chocolate cake. These two outfits above are the perfect examples.

RULE #2-MAKE SUEDE YOUR STATEMENT PIECE

Suede will inevitably always be the statement piece of your outfit so let it stand alone or pair it with items that are more subdued and act as a complement to highlight your statement.
Outfit 1:
Tan Suede Minidress
Outfit 2:
Olive Suede Dress
Future Glory Bag

These jackets are the perfect example of making a statement without going over the top.
Outfit 1:
Veda Jayne Suede Biker Jacket
Outfit 2:
Maroon Suede Trench
J Brand Leather Pants

The other great thing about suede is it can be dressed up or down, the two examples above illustrate this perfectly; shabby chic versus being casually refined.
Outfit 1:
Maison Skotch Jacket
Weekday T-Shirt
Zalando Mini Skirt
Outfit 2:
Camel Suede Mini Skirt

Use suede to add depth and texture to leggings or a simple silk shirt.
Outfit 1:
Tenia Silk Blouse
J Crew Suede Pants

The reach out and touch me allure of this fabric adds a pop of posh to Boho Chic.
Outfit 1:
Arin Boho Top
Abbi Suede Shorts
Outfit 2:
Camel Suede Skinny Pants

And last but not least if you want to capture a small slice of luxury you can always incorporate accessories; a suede hat, shoes or handbag into your style.

LOTS OF LOVELY LEGGINGS

multiple-leggings-styles

Never since this years controversial debates between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton has there been such a hotly debated topic as whether or not leggings are pants. The parties on each side of this controversy are passionate about their position but we are hoping through this post we can prove to the naysayers that leggings are indeed worthy of being placed in the category of pants. What I ask you is more comfortable to wear then a pair of leggings? They allow the ease of movement of a dress or skirt without the risk of being exposed. They provide the coverage of a jean or pant without feeling binding and restrictive on the body. There are days when I have thrown on a pair of leggings and a sweater and actually forgotten I have anything on (perhaps that’s just me). If styled well they can be dressed up or down and worn for literally any occasion.

This week we celebrate the legging (as pant) with a presentation of our favorite styles which enhance the basic legging with luxurious fabrics and unique flair.

THE LEATHER LEGGING
black-leather-leggings

Leather leggings elevate any style. They can make an outfit look sophisticated or just a little edgy depending on your personal styling. Some of our favorite combos for the leather legging are a beautiful oversized cashmere sweater with a pair of killer leopard print stilettos or dress them down with a cute army jacket, t-shirt and pair of motorcycle boots.

THE SUEDE LEGGING

brown-suede-leggings
Who doesn’t love suede? Suede always looks so rich, smooth and inviting like your favorite vanilla latte. It is almost impossible to resist reaching out and touching this fabric (albeit not always socially acceptable). To me suede equals luxury and it can be worn with everything from a t-shirt (instant chic) to a very tailored jacket with tall boots for the office but our favorite look is paired with a very romantic spun cotton and lace peasant blouse. Date night awaits, there is no way he can resist this look.

Another derivation of this look is the classic suede patch leggings. A touch of the luxe without being to bold at work.

CARGO PANT LEGGING
cargo-pocket-leggings-3

At first thought these leggings may seem a little counter intuitive to the main point of what a legging is supposed to be; simple, streamlined, smooth and they can be a little more challenging to wear if you have wider hips but if paired properly with a light over-sized shirt or fitted jacket they can make for a great addition to your legging collection. WARNING: avoid any chunky, heavy, over-sized sweaters which can make the whole outfit look frumpy.

Leggings for the utilitarian:
Black Ponte Cargo Leggings
Silver Ponte Cargo Leggings

THE PRINTED LEGGING
printed-leggins-2

These might be the hardest leggings to pull off but they are soooo cute! You see them at the store, you can not resist the impulse buy and then you get home an wonder, now what? Where am I ever going to wear these? The key to pulling off the printed legging is making sure that the entire outfit does not get to busy. The best way to achieve this is with a simple, solid-colored top, avoid a lot of embellishment with jewelry or scarves, let your leggings speak for themselves and supply the pop of color and interest to your outfit without looking garish. Keep it simple!

So, showcase your legs a little this season and find the perfect comfort and fashion balance that best fits you. Because, we here at Posh At Play always encourage you to

TAX RETURN SPLURGES WE LOVE

3d-abstract_hdwallpaper_woman-in-a-red-dress-shopping-in-nyc_32238By the time you are reading this, you’ll know how much money Uncle Sam will be rewarding you this Tax Season. Here’s hoping that you get a great return on last year’s hard work. Now, what to do with your extra money? Why not reward yourself with a little fashion splurge. Hey- you earned it! All of us have those key “wish list” items we secretly dream of buying someday, but can’t seem to budget in. Well now you don’t have to wait. Treat yourself to some of our favorite fashion finds we are loving this Spring.

GUCCI LOAFERS

What’s not to love about a shoe that can go from casual to formal, from the office to date night, and keep you comfortable all day long. We are loving Gucci’s black leather loafer NEW for Spring 2016. With a classic round toe and low heel, these are a perfect “shoe staple” that will be fashionable for quite some time. Pair with your favorite skinny jeans and Tee on casual days out. Top your look with Hale Bob’s black Bolero jacket for the office, and switch out your jeans for one of Hale Bob’s mini, midi, or maxi skirts in every print and style. Morning, noon, and night, you can’t go wrong with this classic foot fashion.

VICTORIA BECKHAM’S RAINBOW SUNGLASSES

The aviators get an update this Season with Victoria Beckham’s throwback 70’s rainbow glasses. Even if “Boho chic” is not really your style, you can get in on this year’s hottest trend with these groovy sunnies. We like them paired with Hale Bob’s tribal print crepe de chine shorts topped with a cool white embroidered cotton tank as pictured above. Accessorize with Free People’s rustic leather fedora and fringe crossbody for this Season’s “Boho chic” look, or fashion with Ralph Lauren’s color blocked espadrilles and raffia tote on relaxing days at the pool or beach. Sun up to sun down, walk the streets feeling like like your favorite “celeb” this Spring.

ALEXANDER WANG’S CROPPED DENIM

Our third favorite fashion splurge we are dying to try this Spring is Alexander Wang’s cropped denim, updated for 2016 with a slight flare. Another throwback to the 70’s, this jean silhouette fits and flatters any figure, with a fitted waistline to accentuate a tiny middle and wide leg cuffs to balance out shoulders and hips. We suggest pairing your pants with a snug top and minimal accessories to prevent a “bulky,” heavy appearance. We like Liberty Garden’s color blocked mixed media tank with suede detailing to fit and flatter the waistline. Dress things up a bit by switching into Hale Bob’s black laser cut cami, Vince Camuto’s lace up heels, and Betsey Johnson’s whimsical glitter gold rose bangle for a night out on the town. On casual days out, simply throw on Alice + Olivia’s short sleeved fitted tee, adidas’ “Superstar” sneakers, and bright oversized tote from Mm6 Maison Margiela for a perfectly “undone” Athleisure style.

COURREGUES’ LEATHER JACKET

Need a cover up to keep warm? You’ll stay in style year round with new label Courregues’ signature patent leather zip front jacket. Perfect to pair with jeans, leggings, shorts, skirts, and dresses, this versatile wrap will never go out of style and will keep you styling’ every Season of the year. For Springtime, accessorize your jacket over Citizen’s of Humanity’s black skinnies during the day, Hale Bob’s black ultra suede leggings on your next workout session, and Hale Bob’s sleeveless floral knit maxi dress for nighttime activities or your next garden party. The black leather jacket is perfect over Liberty Garden’s lace romper at this Summer’s outdoor music and arts festivals, and simply trade out your lightweight clothing for Liberty Garden’s cozy fur trimmed cable knit sweater as we segue into the cooler autumn and winter months. From Spring to Fall, casual to dressy, daytime to nighttime, this is one jacket option we’re definitely including into our wardrobe collection this year.

LIBERTY GARDEN’S OFF THE SHOULDER ROMPER

As mentioned above, the off the shoulder white lace romper is the perfect addition to your Spring and Summer wardrobe collection. From Dolce and Gabbana to Missoni, this shorts set dominated Spring 2016’s runways. An all-in-one outfit, the romper looks great on all body types and keeps you looking stylish without trying too hard. Start with our favorite white lace romper from Liberty Garden and pair with Benoit Missolin’s straw hat and matching tote from Michael Kors for an easy, breezy daytime Spring and Summer look. Segue into the evening hours by accessorizing your romper with Sam Edelman’s nude lace up heels to accentuate a long leg line and a dainty crystal mesh clutch from Glint. Daytime to nighttime, you are sure to turn heads as you strut your lace romper in style.

VETEMENTS’ HOODIE DRESS

Our final “wish list” fashion of choice this Spring is Vetements’ hoodie sweatshirt dress. Providing comfort and style, this versatile dress combines the casual sweatshirt top with a skirt for an updated take on “sweats” day. Get this model’s high fashion look by combining your dress over Hudson’s distressed boyfriend jeans, Topshop’s ankle booties, and oversized “Hollywood” sunnies from Karen Walker. As the weather warms, forgo the jeans and switch out your boots for Marc Fisher’s comfy wedge sandals or treat your feet to vegan ballerina flats from Tom’s . Got a dinner party planned this weekend? Your hoodie dress will be just perfect cinched with an embellished belt from BCBGMAXAZRIA and paired with embellished block heeled lace up sandals from Jeffrey Campbell or chunky leather sandals from Proenza Schouler. Perfect for any event this Spring, you don’t have to be a college student to rock the “hoodie” in style.

Holli Rogers of Net a Porter

From Gucci’s classic loafers to Liberty Garden’s “Boho” lace romper to Vetements’ comfy hoodie dress, there are many ways to spend that extra cash flow this Season. Start the new year off to a fresh start and reward yourself with a little retail therapy. Even if your busy schedule doesn’t allow you to hit the mall, you can shop any of our selected styles online from the convenience of your own home. Live a little this Season and get to shopping your favorite “Tax Refund” splurge today.

GREASE IS THE WORD: FLASHBACK TO FIFTIES STYLE

JC-CAMPAIGN-LANDSCAPE1-e1447860261250

Grease is STILL the word. Even if you didn’t catch FOX’s “Grease Live” last Sunday, you can still be inspired by one of this Season’s most popular throwback trends. From Louis Vitton’s “pink ladies” jackets to Marc Jacobs’ varsity-inspired coats to Oscar de la Renta’s pastel A-line skirts, designers this year are paying homage to the time period beloved by many. So what are you waiting for? Get “hopelessly devoted” to your favorite 50’s style trends updated for a new generation while still maintaining the nostalgia of the time period. Turn on the movie soundtrack or pop in a little Elvis, peruse our favorite finds, and pick one or all that’ll keep you “summer lovin'” all year long.

T-BIRDS LEATHER

If you have a little rebel in you, then you will relate to the story’s favorite “bad boy” Danny Zucko and the T-Bird gang. The great thing about this look is it’s simple yet sophisticated, and can easily be dressed up or down with the right accessories. Start with a pair of black faux leather leggings from Hale Bob, your favorite comfy white Tee, and a cool black leather biker jacket from Topshop. On casual days, pair your look with classic Converse sneakers updated for 2016 with a wedge heel high top or simple velvet ballerina flats from Sam Edelman. For more formal events, accessorize your outfit with Vince Camuto’s asymmetrical heeled booties or Michael Kors’ kitten heel pumps, a popular style from the 1950’s. Complete your silhouette with retro cat eye sunglasses from BCBGMAXAZRIA and a box purse from Heather Offord. You could also update the look by substituting the predictable leather jacket with Liberty Garden’s faux leather long sleeve shirt with ruffles for a feminine touch. Everyday or special occasion, you can’t go wrong with a black leather outfit this Spring.

PINK LADIES’ DENIM & LEATHER

Strut your style with ease this Season in a chic pairing of denim and leather a la the Pink Ladies. Grab the 50’s favorite pant silhouette and accessorize with a simple Tee, leather jacket, and cute ballerina flats. We like the dark blue super skinny jeans from Hudson or the Thompson cropped skinny jeans from Citizen’s of Humanity. If you prefer color, go with Citizen of Humanity’s sea green skinnies, Hudson Jeans’ marsala or white leopard from Joe’s Jeans. No matter which color combo you choose, complete your look with Liberty Garden’s comfy loose ivory T shirt, Michael Kors’ black leather jacket, and leopard print ballerina flats from Salvatore Ferragamo. You can still wear your skinnies to dressier events by pairing with Liberty Garden’s tailored ivory button down and swapping the flats for classic black pumps from French Connection or Vince Camuto’s “Frenchie” ankle strap sandals. “Rule the school” this Spring in your very own chic Pink Ladies style.

SANDY’S A LINE SILHOUETTE

With Springtime nearly upon us, now is the perfect time to try out this year’s pretty pastel pinks, blues, yellows, and greens. And what better way to usher in the Season than with a vintage A line shaped skirt or dress just like good girl Sandy. Update the 50’s styled skirt by adding trendy modern accessories like chunky booties or wedge heels and a crop top or fitted bodysuit. Segue from chilly winter into Spring’s warmth in Vince Camuto’s sea green faux suede A line skirt paired with a frilly leopard print top from Nanette Lepore or sleek black lace bodysuit from Hale Bob. Curl your locks and accessorize with ankle strap pumps NEW from the Kendall + Kylie collection, an elegant string of pearls from MyHabit, a studded leather clutch from Diane von Furstenberg and you are ready to hit the drive-in. For more formal affairs, sweep your hair into a high pony and don Hale Bob’s bright blue A line  or stick to basic black in the sleeveless color block dress topped with Free People’s cozy faux fur stole. “Hand jive” your way through the upcoming Season in a flattering A line silhouette perfect for any body type.

RIZZO’S HIGH WAISTED SHORT SHORTS

If girly Sandy isn’t quite you, play with the boys this Spring in high waisted short shorts just like bad girl Rizzo. No matter what body shape you have, the high waisted silhouette is perfect for slimming your waistline, lengthening your legs, and providing the perfect combination of cool yet classy. Start with AC Collection’s deep blue high waisted stretch denim shorts paired with Lulu’s teal backless sweater or a black crochet silk cotton halter from Hale Bob for sunnier Spring days. Finish off your vintage 50’s look with a colorful scarf tied around your hair, Jimmy Choo crochet wedges, and a swipe of red lipstick from MAC. Carry your short shorts into the evening hours by topping with a frilly faux leather tank from Liberty Garden, cherry red peep toes pumps from Jessica Simpson, and Hale Bob’s blue rayon knit cardigan if it turns chilly. Casual or dressy, you’ll stay cool and slender in your own pair of high waisted shorts this Season.

VARSITY JACKETS

We can’t leave out the athletic teams that Danny joins in order to impress his love Sandy. From G-Star RAW to Marc Jacobs, designers are bringing back the 1950’s iconic coat for Spring and Summer 2016. Jump on the style trend this Season and pair with anything from your black leggings on the way to the gym to your denim mini to your maxi skirt for a evening on the town. Start with Opening Ceremony’s black and white varsity style jacket  over Hale Bob’s black cargo leggings , Liberty Garden’s gray draping sweatshirt, and Nike’s NEW running sneaker. Swap your leggings and shoes for a denim mini from Mother  or AC Collection’s faded black pencil skirt and Topshop’s NEW black booties for lunch with the girls. Segue into the evening hours by accessorizing your varsity jacket with a blouse, Hale Bob’s black studded high low skirt, and ankle strap “Patti” heels from Sam Edelman. This season take Principal McGee’s advice:  “if you can’t be an athlete, be an athletic supporter.”

a2241baf7f9b575f76fd74bb00d26be5

As we head into a New Year, it is time to start looking at our favorite fashion styles trending on the runways for 2016. While some looks from 2015 are still with us such as Boho and vintage 70’s, designers are paving the way for new, bold fashion statements for this new Season. Take a look at our favorite fashion finds, and start your 2016 off with a brand new wardrobe.

ROSE QUARTZ AND SERENITY BLUE

For the first time ever, the experts at Pantone announced not one but two “colors of the year” for 2016. Executive director Leatrice Eiseman states, “With our hectic lives and the frenzy around us, there is an increasing demand for tranquility. Wearing both of these hues at once is like returning to the weightlessness of your youth. The combination of a cool and warm color brings a sense of balance.” We couldn’t agree more which is why we list these two colors as our top favorite trend for this year. Keep it simple by pairing your favorite light blue jeans with a rose pink robe coat from Steve Madden, accessorized with matching pumps from Calvin Klein and a patent leather handbag from Ted Baker. Or, look for blouses, skirts, and dresses with the rose and blue colors combined into one pattern. We like Hale Bob’s long sleeve blue and pink tie dye shirt dress combined with Kristin Cavallari’s flats for daytime play or pair with Nina’s “Vinnie” crystal embellished ankle strap sandals to dance the night away. However you choose to style, “keep the peace” by including the rose quartz and serenity blue color combo into your daily wardrobe this year.

ASYMMETRICAL HEMLINE

Taking a tip from model Gigi Hadid, our second favorite 2016 trend is the asymmetrical hemline. From blouses to skirts to chic hair bobs,  this Season it’s cool to leave the straight and narrow. Start with Liberty Garden’s black suede asymmetrical mini skirt paired with a crisp button down, layered ultra suede long sleeve sweatshirt, and black booties from Vince Camuto. Feel like a celebrity and get a similar look as Gigi’s pictured above in Hale Bob’s white studded maxi skirt topped with a cozy wool sweater from Free People and over-the-knee suede boots from Calvin Klein. You are sure to be the talk of the town this Season.

COLD SHOULDER

A third favorite trend that is having a revival for 2016 is the “cold shoulder” blouse. Characterized by a cut out top, this blouse style  accentuates the neck and shoulder line for a universally flattering fit on every figure and body type. We like Liberty Garden’s black and white lace trimmed tunic paired with Hale Bob’s black cotton eyelit shorts, suede booties from Cole Haan, and black floppy hat from Free People for true “Boho” style. Stay cool and collected this Spring in a printed cold shoulder blouse from Hale Bob, easily combined with your favorite skinny jeans, or keep some of “winter’s white” alive on your next evening out with Hale Bob’s white silk drop waist tunic. Forgo the basic blouse altogether and go with Hale Bob’s black chevron print drop shoulder dress, accessorized with T-strap sandals for the beach and Jimmy Choo chunky wedges for everyday glam. Beach or Boho. Daytime or Evening. You can’t go wrong with a cold shoulder outfit this Spring.

 70’s DENIM

Another “revival” we are looking forward to trying this year is a throwback to the 70’s. From flare jeans to overalls to jackets, get groovy this Season in head-to-toe 70’s style. Start with a pair of AC Collection’s medium wash flare jeans and top with Current/Elliott’s denim short sleeve shirt and tan leather clogs from Kork-Ease. Go with a different look in Hudson Jeans’ denim jean shirt dress paired with fringe knee high boots from Isola and matching fringe tote from Elizabeth and James. If you are feeling daring this year, try one of the runways favorites this Season with a one piece denim overall outfit. We like the skinny cropped style from Current/Elliott or go full vintage 70’s in a pair of wide leg denim overalls from Free People. Whether or not you lived through the 1970’s, now is the perfect time to relive the iconic era in fashion.

356fdd5b525703ddfd07aff88587fd2e

RUFFLES

Our last two favorite fashion finds for 2016 will bring out the “girly” side of you this Spring. After all, what’s wrong with showing a little feminine flare? From Balmain to Alexander McQueen , designers filled the runways this year with ruffles everywhere. Look for luscious ruffling on dresses and skirts like Lauren Conrad’s blush pink frock pictured above, or go with a more tailored style with ruffle trimmed blazer jackets and peplum tops. Get Lauren’s similar style with a pale pink ruffled dress from Black Halo paired with matching ruffled fringe strappy heels from BCBGMAXAZRIA and a vintage pearl white clutch from Monsoon, perfect for a garden party, lunch out with the girls, or date night on the town. Even if you prefer a more structured style, you can still get in on this Season’s ruffled look. Go with Hale Bob’s red and black peplum top accessorized with black leggings and suede booties, or spruce up your office wear style in a tailored ruffle front jacket from Calvin Klein. Frilly or fitted. Casual or dressy. No matter what your preference, be sure to get in on this Season’s feminine ruffle trim trend.

4aa9587a0b2bca7a8fab5c7cc80ea3f3

ROSE PRINT

We know. We know. Florals for Spring- groundbreaking. But this Season, designers focused on just one floral pattern in particular. From Dolce & Gabbana to Oscar de la Renta to Michael Kors, everything is coming up roses this year. We like Hale Bob’s pink floral rose print sheath dress paired with delicate nude-colored ankle strap sandals from Stuart Weitzman to off set the bold patterning. Or go with just a touch in Erin Fetherston’s “English Rose” print fit and flare dress. Not just reserved for dresses, get in on the rose print trend with Karen Millen’s black and white rose print jumpsuit, or the breezy multicolor rose print chiffon top from Goat. You can even bring the roses’ romantic touch with you to the gym in Betsey Johnson’s rose print leggings. Show your feminine side and usher in Spring and Summer’s luscious , romantic fragrance with a rose patterned outfit this Season.

lady-dior-campaign

We’ve listed our top fashion finds for 2016 so now it’s time to decide which look you will try. Will it be rose quartz and serenity blue color combo echoing the Sunset’s peaceful end of another day? Will you throwback to vintage 1970’s with flare denim and “Boho” accessories? Or will you get in touch with your romantic side this Season in a rose patterned fashion outfit? Whichever trend you choose to try this year, always remember to be you, be fabulous, and always be feminine.

Layer Hale Bob’s black rabbit fur vest over Liberty Garden’s ivory ultra suede long sleeve shirt, Hale Bob’s black mixed media leggings, waterproof booties, and cashmere stocking cap from Dolce & Gabbana. On evening dinners at the lodge, pair your vest with Liberty Garden’s long sleeve ivory mixed media sheath dress and black leather knee high boots from Ralph Lauren. Don’t forget to include your favorite snug overcoat amongst your packing for skiing this Season. CITY

a26b5b5ef5f55fd3baca7eed5ec4fef0

If you are vacationing in the big city this Winter, the key to staying versatile and adaptable to winter weather is layers, layers, layers. Whether dressing for lunch with the family or a romantic holiday dinner for 2, be sure to pack lots of layering options in your suitcase. To keep from looking too “puffy,” be sure to start with thin materials and work your way outward to bulkier fabrics. For an easy yet stylish daytime look, pair Hale Bob’s Melange turtleneck sweater in rust, navy or black with AC Collection’s dark wash high waist skinny jeans, navy wool coat from Kenneth Cole, and your favorite pair of knee high boots. For a trendy look, substitute a this Season’s favorite cape coat from Alice + Olivia and cozy navy ultra suede leggings from Hale Bob.

SKIRT + SWEATER

No need to tuck away your favorite Summer skirt or dress. Take a tip from celebrity Olivia Palermo’s chic city look and pair your favorite skirt style with a chunky knit, warm leggings, and short heeled booties. Start with Liberty Garden’s ultra suede black patchwork skirt and layer with Tory Burch’s chunky ivory turtleneck pullover sweater, Topshop’s faux fur cozy peacoat, Hale Bob’s black ultra suede leggings,  and classic Christian Louboutin black booties as pictured above. On warmer days, forgo the leggings and coat, and layer with a snug wool scarf from rag & bone to ward off the brisk winter breeze.

As many of us pack our bags and travel to see our loved ones this Season, it’s time to start thinking about winter weather fashion options. There is a way to stay stylish yet warm throughout whatever Mother Nature may throw our way this time of year. Grab your hot cocoa and cuddle up next to the fire as you peruse our favorites and start planning your holiday look this Season.

CLASSIC BOUCLE COAT

Rain, snow, sleet or shine, one of our favorite “go to” jackets to fit any winter weather situation is the classic boucle coat. Popularized by the French designer Coco Chanel decades ago, the look is still on trend today. The word “Boucle” actually refers to material made from boucle yarn, looping several colors together to create an endless variety of designs and patterns. The great thing about this jacket is that it is easily adaptable for work or play, dress or casual. Try Guess’s powder pink double breasted Boucle coat paired with Hale Bob’s black stretch A line skirt and black satin blouse with lace for everyday work wear to the office. Segue into the evening hours and party the night away by combining your Boucle coat with a chic cocktail dress from Hale Bob. Choose from a wide selection to fit and flatter every figure and fashion taste found at our convenient online store Posh at Play.

Your Boucle coat can go triple duty by pairing with your favorite jeans and sweater for everyday comfort and style. Try this year’s favorite cropped jean silhouette with Citizen’s of Humanity’s Dani dark wash skinny cropped jeans or go for flare in the Dylan wide leg cropped pant. Layer your look with Liberty Garden’s ivory ultra suede sweatshirt or stay snug in the fur trimmed sweatshirt and cable knit sweater. However you choose to style, you’ll definitely want to add the versatile Boucle coat to your wardrobe collection this Winter.

COZY FUR VEST

Our second favorite chilly weather option is the fur vest. Easy to layer over a blouse or sweater by itself on warmer days or underneath a wool coat on cold winter days, be sure to add the fur vest to your closet this Season. Get a similar look as pictured above with Hale Bob’s black rabbit fur vest paired with Hudson’s Nico mid rise super skinny jeans or try the Signature skinny jeans if you prefer black. Accessorize with Dooney & Bourke’s classic oversized leather tote,  Betsey Johnson’s heart pendant, and waterproof leather booties from Aquatalia, perfect for rainy or snowy Winter weather. If you’re feeling festive this Holiday Season, go with Hale Bob’s red rabbit fur vest instead. You are sure to spread some Christmas cheer in style.

Your fur vest can also carry you from the ski slopes to the office place. Rather than lug a heavy coat with you, top your fleece lined black leggings from Zella and cozy wool sweater from Free People with your fur vest and you ready to ski the day away. Impress your Boss and turn heads at the office by combining your favorite long sleeved shift dress with Hale Bob’s fur vest, black opaque striped tights from Elie Tahari, knee high suede boots from William Rast, and a crocodile embossed tote from Badgley Mischka. The fur vest is definitely a fashionable warm winter option to have with you this Season.

THE PONCHO

With “Boho” still all the rage, it is no surprise that the poncho is one of this Season’s trendiest winter coat options. Updated for 2015, look for ponchos made with unusual materials such as lace from Free People and different patterns such as striped from Ralph Lauren. Or stay simple in Liberty Garden’s black faux suede trimmed lace poncho easily paired with your favorite jeans and boots for everyday wear or thrown over your favorite cocktail dress at your next holiday party.

410d4b512a3f6483b43c8377c1a3d89d

Get in on one of this Season’s top trends with the “poncho dress.” From Valentino to Chloe, designers are pushing the limits of how to style the classic poncho and are giving it a chic, updated look. We like Free People’s soft Toltec poncho dress or BB Dakota’s black burnout velvet dress for casual occasions. If you’ve been extra good this year, Santa might just spoil you with an elegant Valentino black flutter poncho dress, perfect for your dressier occasions. Or, you can simply grab your favorite knee length poncho and wear it solo on your next dinner date or holiday party.

496265e2bb7f8e721e3eebdea674cad7LOTS OF LAYERS

For extremely frigid climates, layering is the key to staying warm against the seasonal elements. Layering also works in warmer winter weather when the daytime is hot but nighttime brings in the chilly air. In cold temperatures, start with your favorite button down blouse like Hale Bob’s black velvet floral top paired with a gray lace pencil skirt with half slip. Layer with a gray wool sweater from Eileen Fisher, gray cable knit scarf from Phillip Lim, wool blend peacoat from Michael Kors, and knee high leather boots from designer Antonio Melani. For a different look, combine your layers over Hale Bob’s grey ultra suede leggings or AC Collection’s grey stretch skinny jeans. In warmer climates, forgo the heavy peacoat, and simply layer a blouse and sweater combo over your favorite pair of pants, accessorizing with a cozy scarf for nighttime chills. To keep from feeling like “Frosty the Snowman,” make sure you start with thinner fabrics underneath, and end with your heaviest fabric on top.

LOOKING GOOD IN GALOSHES

Lastly, one of our favorite winter weather items that you can incorporate into your fashion wardrobe this holiday Season is the waterproof rain boot. From Tory Burch’s “equestrian” style to Hunter’s wedge to Santana Canada’s fur trimmed, tried and true galoshes get a facelift this Season with updated looks and unique styles. The girls will never know you are wearing waterproof rain shoes when you pair your Tory Burch boots with a red plaid shirt from Current/Elliot, black A line skirt from Hale Bob, and holiday red flare overcoat from Via Spiga on your next coffee date.

For another wintery weather look, stay dry yet stylish in cute knee high plaid rain shoes from Burberry or go mid-size as featured above in “Cara” plaid lace up boots from Chooka. Pair with Hale Bob’s  black ultra suede leggings ,neutral fur trimmed cable knit sweaterand add your favorite plaid button down for extra warmth on chillier days. Don’t be afraid to incorporate galoshes into your wardrobe this Season. With this year’s updated looks, you’ll stay dry yet sleek in the newest rain boot styles.

WINTER FLORALS

Not just for Spring anymore, Winter is the perfect time to let the flowers come out and play. The key to fashioning florals for Winter is to look for darker prints and longer sleeves, or accessorize your dress with heavier coats, scarves, furs and boots. For a day party with the girls, try  Hale Bob’s pink and white bold floral print maxi dress topped with a red rabbit fur vest and black booties from Via Spiga. At your next holiday office party, wow them in style with Betsey Johnson’s floral print stretch midi dress accessorized with emerald green satin T-strap sandals and a “Fall Follies” embellished flower bangle all from the designer herself. A SHORTS STORY

Even though Winter is upon us, don’t rule out your favorite pair of shorts at your next holiday party. As with florals, the key is to layer your pair of shorts with heavier knits, wools, and furs, and on extra cold days, a pair of wool tights. Get a similar “Winter White” look as pictured above with Liberty Garden’s NEW ivory lace skort paired with Hale Bob’s ivory lace sweater knit blouse classic ivory jacket from Shopbop, and a “Boho” floppy hat from Eugenia Kim. TANGERINE IS THE NEW RED

From Elie Saab to Alice + Olivia, designers this year brought us a new shade of red – bright tangerine. What better time than the holidays to try on one of this Season’s top trending colors. Stand out from among the rest at your next office party in a Phillip Lim sleeveless silk ruffle dress or go for a more tailored look in Black Halo’s tangerine shift dress. Off set the bright color with nude ankle strap sandals from Suart Weitzman and a bead and crystal clutch by Natasha Couture, or head to toe color with tangerine suede pumps from Gianvito Rossi and a matching leather clutch from Rag and Bone.

DENIM AND LACE

Lastly, as featured in Harper’s Bazaar magazine’s top party picks, we couldn’t agree more with unexpected dynamic lace paired with denim. Suitable and chic for any holiday gathering, what better way to spruce up durable denim this Season than with an elegant, vintage Victorian lace blouse. We like this updated look with pencil skirt and lace up booties, perfect for the office party, dinner with the parents, or the annual holiday get together. Our top picks include Hale Bob’s supple satin and sultry black lace blouse or go with black stretch floral lace tunic paired with AC Collection’s faded denim pencil skirt and Alexandre Birman black lace up booties. Change up your style at another holiday occasion with a trendy midi length denim skirt from Frame Denim or go with relaxed cropped denim pants from Citizen’s of Humanity. And you could always switch things up by topping Hale Bob’s ivory or grey lace midi skirt with a tie back denim top from Nicholas. However you choose to style, try the denim and lace combo this year.

LEATHER WEATHER

black leather jacket and cross body bag for Fall

As we welcomed the first day of Fall on Wednesday, it is time to start planning our Autumn and Winter wardrobe essentials. With cooler temperatures comes heavier fabrics, longer sleeves, and lots of layers. We start our Fall clothing necessities with this week’s topic “Leather Weather.” While the quintessential black leather jacket will never go out of style, we’ve picked some of our other favorite leather options that you might want to try this year. So snuggle down with your pumpkin spice latte and take a look at our top picks for this Season’s “Leather Weather” style.

Leather skirt for the office

LEATHER FOR THE OFFICE

Who says leather doesn’t fit in an office setting? This Season, live on the edge and bring your leather out to work with you. In order to keep your look classic and sophisticated, stick to more tailored leather pieces like mid-length pencil skirts, a tailored leather jacket, or button down leather vest. We like the chic faux wrap black leather pencil skirt from Lafayette 148 New York paired with Hale Bob’s black silk button down blouse and Michael Kors’ classic black kitten heels with extra flex for all day comfort. Accessorize your workday look with Royce Leather’s black briefcase and delicate black leather gloves from Prada for chillier Fall mornings. This year is all about breaking the fashion “rules” and wearing styles that work for you. What better way to kickstart the new Season than to wear your favorite leather piece to the workplace next week.

Olivia Palermo in black leather leggings

EVERYDAY CASUAL

One of the simplest ways to stay styled and fabulous for Fall is the leather legging. Adaptable to any occasion, pair black leather leggings with your favorite chunky sweater and booties for daytime errands or throw on a flowy blouse and heels for lunch with the girls. We love celebrity Olivia Palmero’s simple legging style pictured above accessorized with a cozy knit sweater, handbag, fun ankle heels, and casual topknot. While leather leggings can run between the $1,700-$2,000 range, get her similar look with Ralph Lauren’s paneled faux black leather leggings topped with Hale Bob’s gray ombre knit pullover sweater and funky ankle strap heels from Charles David. Be sure to add leather leggings to your closet this Season for quick, easy styling throughout the Fall and Winter days ahead.

leather leggings for Athleisure style

LEATHER ATHLEISURE

Make your leather leggings go double duty and pair with your favorite sweatshirt and sneakers for a trendy “Athleisure” look. From Alexander Wang’s slouchy off-duty street wear to Michael Kors’ athletic tanks spotted at last week’s New York Fashion Week Spring 2016 Collection, it looks like this trend is here to stay. We like Hale Bob’s black quilted faux leather leggings paired with Liberty Garden’s cozy long sleeve sweatshirt and Nike’s customizable running sneaker. Simply throw on a tailored wool blazer from Laundry or Hale Bob’s long teal boucle coat and you are ready for meetings or lunch out after your workout.

black leather dress

DATE NIGHT

Don’t forget to add a bit of edge to your next evening out on the town with a chic leather dress. From fringe to sheath to A line, we love the new leather dress silhouettes designers are creating this Fall. For date night, try Nicole Miller’s short sleeve black leather sheath dress accessorized with chunky gold jewelry and rose gold pumps from designer Sophia Webster for a bit of elegance contrasting against the sleek leather. If sleek  isn’t quite your style, go with BCBGMAXAZARIA’s A line sleeveless knee length dress perfect for the nightlife and also suitable for the next morning’s business breakfast or meetings at the office.

black leather fringe dress for Fall

A third leather dress style we love this Season is the fringe look. Carry Summer’s carefree “Boho” spirit with you into the cooler months of Autumn with a sweeping black leather fringe dress. We love the Total Eclipse long black dress from Nasty Gal as pictured above or go with a more classic look with the long sleeve fringe party dress from YOOX. Whichever leather dress style you choose, be sure to update your accessories to reflect the chillier weather with warm ankle booties or “cage” heels, leather clutch, and matching leather jacket.

Leather vest and maxi dress for Fall

LEATHER VEST

When we think of the leather vest, the first image that comes to mind is a Harley Davidson bike rider. However, designers this year are re-imagining the iconic leather vest and have re-fashioned the look to suit any style or taste. From Phillip Lam’s tailored shirt length style to Saint Laurent’s fringe to IRO’s fur trimmed, the black leather vest has come along way from it’s motorcycle stigma. Try the look this Fall paired with your favorite skinny jeans and white Tee or style over your favorite maxi dress from Summer. We like Lucky Brand’s slouchy black leather vest or go with a longer style in Neiman Marcus’ sleeveless leather zip front vest. If cropped suits you more, try Topshop’s “Sylvia” faux leather Moto vest or Eileen Fisher’s beautiful draped black leather vest. Whatever style you choose, the leather vest is a perfect layering accessory to include into your Fall wardrobe this Season.

leather skirt paired with plaid shirt

LEATHER & PLAID

Combine two favorite Fall patterns with leather and plaid. No need to reserve your cozy flannel for relaxing days at home. Bring your plaid out to shine paired with your favorite black leather pencil skirt and heels. We like Ann Taylor’s faux leather skirt topped with Ralph Lauren’s plaid cotton blouse and black ankle strap heels from Sam Edelman.

black leather leggings and plaid flannel shirt

Another leather and plaid style combo to try for Fall is your favorite leather leggings paired with a cozy flannel. We like Hale Bob’s quilted leggings combined with the perfect plaid flannel shirt from Current/Elliott and comfy suede wedges from designer Pedro Garcia. You can also accessorize your look with your favorite sneakers and beanie for a cool, casual “Athleisure” style. Step out in style this Season with Fall’s favorite leather and plaid.

JEWEL TONED LEATHER

Leather doesn’t have to come in just black or white. Try the “jewel toned” trend this Season and bring a little color to Fall and Winter’s cold, blustery days. Look for leather skirts, jackets, and handbags in emerald green, canary yellow, crimson scarlet, or deep purple. We like Bagatelle’s classic red bomber jacket, perfect for the office or a night on the town. Or go with Ann Taylor’s emerald green pencil skirt paired with Hale Bob’s ivory silk charmeuse blouse and Jimmy Choo’s nude patent leather pump. Be the talk of the town this year and accessorize your wardrobe  with a bright yellow clutch from Fendi or go casual with a yellow leather backpack from Marc Jacobs. This Fall, don’t be shy. Add a little color to your wardrobe collection.

canary yellow leather jacket and handbag

Whichever way you choose, be sure to include a little edgy leather into your wardrobe this Season. Whether you choose a sleek pencil skirt, an A line dress, comfy leggings or a bright yellow handbag, leather is your “go to” fashion for easy yet chic Fall style. Start shopping the trend today and remember our motto to be you, be fabulous, and always be feminine.
