STAY CLASSY IN SUMMER’S OFF THE SHOULDER TREND

River-Island-Spring-Summer-2016-Campaign05

This week, the fashion world exploded with the Duchess of Cambridge’s slightly “daring” off the shoulder tailored look at the Museum of Natural History’s benefit in London. Flattering on all body types by accentuating the décolletage, you too can “class” up this silhouette. Take a tip from Kate and incorporate Summer’s favorite “off shoulder” style into your fashion wardrobe this Season.

Created by designer Barbara Casasola for her Spring 2016 collection, the pinstripe cream colored dress is the perfect cross between classy yet cool. The Duchess dressed things up with dainty dangle earrings and strappy heels, but you could easily pair this look with  sandals for lunch with the girls, or your favorite comfy sneakers for the perfect “Athleisure” look.

At the workplace, keep your off the shoulder dress sophisticated by accessorizing with skinny cotton pants and classic oxfords for all day comfort and style.

On another day, create a different outfit with your skinnies by pairing with a lightweight cotton lace off the shoulder top for perfect polish.

Or, go with a  classic basic black style paired with minimal gold jewelry and a colorful handbag. Keep your look sophisticated by keeping hemlines longer for extra coverage, combining with classic handbags, jewelry, and shoes, and styling hair in a chic topknot, sleek pony, or loose curls carefully shaped in place.

TAX RETURN SPLURGES WE LOVE

3d-abstract_hdwallpaper_woman-in-a-red-dress-shopping-in-nyc_32238By the time you are reading this, you’ll know how much money Uncle Sam will be rewarding you this Tax Season. Here’s hoping that you get a great return on last year’s hard work. Now, what to do with your extra money? Why not reward yourself with a little fashion splurge. Hey- you earned it! All of us have those key “wish list” items we secretly dream of buying someday, but can’t seem to budget in. Well now you don’t have to wait. Treat yourself to some of our favorite fashion finds we are loving this Spring.

GUCCI LOAFERS

What’s not to love about a shoe that can go from casual to formal, from the office to date night, and keep you comfortable all day long. We are loving Gucci’s black leather loafer NEW for Spring 2016. With a classic round toe and low heel, these are a perfect “shoe staple” that will be fashionable for quite some time. Pair with your favorite skinny jeans and Tee on casual days out. Top your look with Hale Bob’s black Bolero jacket for the office, and switch out your jeans for one of Hale Bob’s mini, midi, or maxi skirts in every print and style. Morning, noon, and night, you can’t go wrong with this classic foot fashion.

VICTORIA BECKHAM’S RAINBOW SUNGLASSES

The aviators get an update this Season with Victoria Beckham’s throwback 70’s rainbow glasses. Even if “Boho chic” is not really your style, you can get in on this year’s hottest trend with these groovy sunnies. We like them paired with Hale Bob’s tribal print crepe de chine shorts topped with a cool white embroidered cotton tank as pictured above. Accessorize with Free People’s rustic leather fedora and fringe crossbody for this Season’s “Boho chic” look, or fashion with Ralph Lauren’s color blocked espadrilles and raffia tote on relaxing days at the pool or beach. Sun up to sun down, walk the streets feeling like like your favorite “celeb” this Spring.

ALEXANDER WANG’S CROPPED DENIM

Our third favorite fashion splurge we are dying to try this Spring is Alexander Wang’s cropped denim, updated for 2016 with a slight flare. Another throwback to the 70’s, this jean silhouette fits and flatters any figure, with a fitted waistline to accentuate a tiny middle and wide leg cuffs to balance out shoulders and hips. We suggest pairing your pants with a snug top and minimal accessories to prevent a “bulky,” heavy appearance. We like Liberty Garden’s color blocked mixed media tank with suede detailing to fit and flatter the waistline. Dress things up a bit by switching into Hale Bob’s black laser cut cami, Vince Camuto’s lace up heels, and Betsey Johnson’s whimsical glitter gold rose bangle for a night out on the town. On casual days out, simply throw on Alice + Olivia’s short sleeved fitted tee, adidas’ “Superstar” sneakers, and bright oversized tote from Mm6 Maison Margiela for a perfectly “undone” Athleisure style.

COURREGUES’ LEATHER JACKET

Need a cover up to keep warm? You’ll stay in style year round with new label Courregues’ signature patent leather zip front jacket. Perfect to pair with jeans, leggings, shorts, skirts, and dresses, this versatile wrap will never go out of style and will keep you styling’ every Season of the year. For Springtime, accessorize your jacket over Citizen’s of Humanity’s black skinnies during the day, Hale Bob’s black ultra suede leggings on your next workout session, and Hale Bob’s sleeveless floral knit maxi dress for nighttime activities or your next garden party. The black leather jacket is perfect over Liberty Garden’s lace romper at this Summer’s outdoor music and arts festivals, and simply trade out your lightweight clothing for Liberty Garden’s cozy fur trimmed cable knit sweater as we segue into the cooler autumn and winter months. From Spring to Fall, casual to dressy, daytime to nighttime, this is one jacket option we’re definitely including into our wardrobe collection this year.

VETEMENTS’ HOODIE DRESS

Our final “wish list” fashion of choice this Spring is Vetements’ hoodie sweatshirt dress. Providing comfort and style, this versatile dress combines the casual sweatshirt top with a skirt for an updated take on “sweats” day. Get this model’s high fashion look by combining your dress over Hudson’s distressed boyfriend jeans, Topshop’s ankle booties, and oversized “Hollywood” sunnies from Karen Walker. As the weather warms, forgo the jeans and switch out your boots for Marc Fisher’s comfy wedge sandals or treat your feet to vegan ballerina flats from Tom’s . Got a dinner party planned this weekend? Your hoodie dress will be just perfect cinched with an embellished belt from BCBGMAXAZRIA and paired with embellished block heeled lace up sandals from Jeffrey Campbell or chunky leather sandals from Proenza Schouler. LUNCH WITH THE GIRLS

Why not be trendy yet comfy in soft muted pastels on your next lunch out? Start with Spring’s trendy distressed look, updated for 2016 on the skinny leg silhouette. We like True Religion’s stretch white skinny jeans topped with Chloe’s luscious vintage Victorian pink chiffon blouse, trending on the runways through Fall 2016. For chillier days, accessorize with a soft beige shawl coat from Harris Wharf London, or BCBG’s lace trench for a more structured style. BEACH DAY

With lace and “Boho chic” all the rage, now is the time to add a few of Spring’s “essentials” to your wardrobe collection. Perfect for the beach topped over your favorite swimsuit or paired over your “go to” tee and shorts outfit, be sure to add this Season’s favorite lovely lace Kimono jacket. Light enough to prevent bulk yet thick enough to provide a little warmth from Spring’s fluctuating temperatures, Liberty Garden’s ivory lace Kimono is the perfect jacket option for you this Season. Another favorite Spring jacket option is the “Boho chic” poncho. Slip on Liberty Garden’s black or ivory laced fringed poncho over your favorite poolside attire, or pair over Citizen’s of Humanity’s ivory shorts, Hale Bob’s white lace tank , and Free People’s tall gladiators for the quintessential “festival girl” style. Or, complete your day of fun in sun with Liberty Garden’s long sleeve lace tunic on chilly Spring days or off the shoulder lace tunic from South Beach swimsuits during summer’s heat wave. Kimono, poncho, or tunic, there’s a lovely lacy cover up option to suit your Spring style.

GARDEN PARTY

Unsure of what to wear to your next garden party or Spring wedding? You can’t go wrong in a creamy ivory or peachy pink lace dress, suitable for any occasion casual to dressy. We like Hale Bob’s ivory lace pencil dress with this year’s off the shoulder trending silhouette style. Go with the long sleeve two-toned dress or white lace strapless maxi paired with Topshop’s lace up blush pink wedges for little “Boho chic” flare. If classic is more your style, grab Hale Bob’s ivory floral A line dress accessorized with Badgley Mischka’s floral embellished open toes pumps and matching leather clutch from Tory Burch. NEUTRAL NAIL COLOR

This Season is all about “do it yourself” beauty and what better way to usher in Spring’s neutral colors than with an at home manicure makeover. Our favorite is the Red Carpet Pro manicure starter set, featuring your own LED lights, nourishing cuticle cream, prep nail sanitizer, base coat and top coat enhancers, plus nail polish remover and application purifying cleanser. Grab Salon quality nail polish in soft peach cream and in minutes you can enjoy weeks worth of nail beauty. Invite the girls over, brew some detox tea, and relax for an afternoon of nourishment, fun, and style from the comfort of your own home.

NEUTRAL MAKE UP

Don’t just stop at nail beauty. Continue Spring’s neutral color scheme trend into your daily make up routine this Season. Start with Urban Decay’s weightless ultra definition foundation, add a blushing cheek stain from Tarte,  a swipe of bareMinerals’ natural volumizing mascara, and finish up with MAC’s soft sheer nude lipstick inspired by designer Zac Posen. To compliment this year’s carefree, “unfussy” style, treat your tresses to a little extra loving care with natural remedies for damage control. Two of our favorite “hair masks” can be found conveniently right in your kitchen. First is the Avocado and Peppermint hair mask, made by mixing one avocado, a tablespoon each of olive oil and honey, and sprinkled lightly with peppermint tea to stimulate your scalp and offer intense refreshment to your locks. Our second favorite, used to treat damaged follicles, is the Milk and Honey hair mask, made from one cup of whole milk and a teaspoon of honey. Let hair soak in the mixture for 15 minutes, and then rinse and shampoo. You’re sure to turn heads your way with your natural glow this Spring.

Like the colors of the sunset, Pantone’s colors of the year, quartz rose and serenity blue, reflect the quiet peace of day’s end. Why not add a little “peace” into your wardrobe this year by including these colors into your everyday apparel. Start with Liberty Garden’s NEW soft pink strapless lace twill dress or pastel blue maxi and pair with comfy leather sandals from Free People, a hobo bag from Rebecca Minkoff, and Vince Camuto’s straw floppy hat to stay shaded throughout the day’s activities. Throw your sandals aside and take a run on the beach, or cuddle up with your favorite book while looking glam at the same time. Try Liberty Garden’s NEW lace trimmed dress in the soft Spring pastel colors of blue, pink, yellow, and violet. TIE DYE MAXI

Our second favorite “flashback 70’s” trend is the tie dye print maxi. You don’t have to be a hippie to enjoy this style to the max this Season. We like Hale Bob’s navy blue tie dye print halter dress paired with Joie’s black leather flip flops, easy to remove for beach time walks in the sand. When the weather turns a bit chilly, cover up in Liberty Garden’s daisy trimmed lace poncho and matching sunhat from Flora Bella. If neutral is more your style, go with Hale Bob’s taupe printed maxi accessorized with Jeffrey Campbell’s nude wedge sandals to elongate your limbs no matter how tall you are. No need to change for evening activities. Simply spritz your hair with a little Bumble & Bumble surf spray, sweep your beach waved tresses into a loose low bun, slip on Sam Edelman’s fringe sandals, and dance the night away in comfort and style.

TIE DYE CABANA TUNIC

Speaking of tie dye, we like the look on the Cabana tunic as well, a required accessory for the chillest of Spring days. Flattering on any figure, this top can substitute as a swimwear cover up at the beach, pair with your favorite skinny jeans for lunch with the girls, combine with a mini skirt on evenings out, and double as your favorite nightshirt when the sun goes down. Get the above look with Hale Bob’s blue silk kit tie dye tunic paired with cool white cotton sateen skinny pants or cropped mid-rise skinny jeans from Citizen’s of Humanity, wedge ankle strap sandals from Marc Fisher, and statement earrings from Isabel Marant. LACE TUNIC

You don’t have to wait for dressier occasions to sport Spring’s romantic lace trend. From Burberry to Zimmerman to Lauren Conrad, the runways this year were filled with luscious lace frocks, tops, skirts, and jackets. Get in on this Season’s trend with Liberty Garden’s newest white lace gauze blouse paired with your favorite skinny jeans like Citizen’s of Humanity’s Thompson cropped skinnies or Hale Bob’s cotton sateen pants. If the weather warms, trade out your pants for green printed silk dress shorts paired with Steve Madden’s trendy lace up gladiator sandals or classic wedges from Michael Kors. BLUSH PINK LACE KIMONO

With Spring’s fluctuating weather patterns, you never know when you might need a slight wrap to protect from chilly breezes. Forgo your leather jacket or bulky puffer, and substitute a lighter, flowy cover up. We like Liberty Garden’s pink peach swing lace kimono jacket , perfect to throw over a casual tee and cut-offs, your favorite swimsuit, or sleeveless Spring sundress. Segue into the evening hours by paring your kimono with any of the above listed maxi dresses, from pretty pastel pink, to vintage striped, to groovy tie dye. And the next morning, feel like a million as you wrap yourself in your soft pink luxurious kimono, relaxing in comfort and style as you sip your latte in the warmth of the Spring sun.

WHITE LACE ROMPER

Lastly, if there’s only one new item you include into your Spring wardrobe this Season, be sure to get a flowy lace romper, perfect for those days when you want to stay stylish but don’t have the time. An all-in-one fashion statement, the romper flatters all body types from curvy to athletic, from slim to round. We like Liberty Garden’s NEW white lace off the shoulder romper paired with casual cashmere slide ons for bumming around the house or cork wedges from Jimmy Choo for lunch out with the girls. Go full on “Boho chic” and accessorize your look with Monsoon’s bow back floppy straw hat, handmade fringe crossbody from Vintage Addiction, and sterling silver feather ankle bracelets from Zales. Or if classic is more your style, add Tory Burch’s white flat sandal on casual days and Calvin Klein’s T-strap heels for nighttime fun. TRENDING SPRING PRINTS AND STYLES YOU’LL WEAR ALL SEASON

Rene-Caovilla-SS14-1

With the clocks moving forward this weekend, Spring has finally sprung. With longer days and warmer nights, it’s time to start filling our closets with the Season’s favorite patterns, silhouettes, and styles. From off the shoulder, to slouchy pants, to groovy tie dye, designers this year focused on a laid back approach to beauty. Take a look at our top favorite looks on the runways and we’ll show you how you can incorporate the trends now and later into your wardrobe.

OFF THE SHOULDER BLOUSE

From Rebecca Minkoff to Stella McCartney to Michael Kors, the “cold shoulder” is one of the top trends to revive on the runways this Season. We love the flowy “Boho” casual yet put together off the shoulder silhouette. This Season, look for blouses, dresses, crop tops, and even vests with the cut out style. Ease into Spring with Hale Bob’s long sleeve floral silk blouse combined with your favorite skinny jeans or leggings. Go classic by accessorizing with wedge sandals or ankle booties and a reversible oversized tote from Urban Outfitters. Or go “Boho” chic with a floppy straw hat from Free People, a suede trimmed lace kimono from Liberty Garden, and fringe booties from JSlides . As the weather warms, try a black Chevron knit dress with trending gladiator sandals from Sam Edelman or take your bright pink tribal print blouse to the beach paired with your favorite swimsuit. Classic or Boho. Cool or warm. Curvy or boy shaped. The off the shoulder look fits every style, every climate, and every shape this Spring.

STATEMENT SLEEVES

Seen at the Milly Spring 2016 Spring runway shows, another blouse shape we love is the statement sleeve. From bell shaped, to flare, to flounce, add a little glamour to your style this Season. Wow them at work in Hale Bob’s black embroidered lace blouse paired with printed crepe de chine wide leg pants and sturdy black pumps from Charles David for all day wear. Or, go trendy with this year’s “Boho” chic craze and combine your top with Citizen’s of Humanity’s cropped rolled skinny jeans, suede booties from Vince Camuto, and a fringe crossbody from White House Black Market . Dazzle and delight on your next evening out with Hale Bob’s beaded cuff silk blouse accessorized with Current/Elliot’s sleek black leather leggings, bright pink clutch and embellished pumps from Betsey Johnson. A few of our other favorite looks we love are Hale Bob’s cherry red silk double georgette long sleeve dress and shimmy the night away in a black jeweled silk tunic cocktail dress. Make a statement without saying a word this Season in your own flouncy sleeved outfit.

TIE DYE PRINT

Get groovy! A throwback to 70’s fashion continues for Spring 2016. With designers like AltuzarraRachel Comey, and Raquel Allegra showing tie dye prints on everything from blouses to pants to cocktail dresses, 2016 is the time to tap into your inner “hippie” and vibe with the times. Go full on “Boho” in Hale Bob’s luscious mint green tie dye maxi dress paired with all the essential accessories: floppy hat, gladiator sandals, fringe bag, and crochet shawl. Or, choose the blue jersey knit maxi skirt topped with a comfy basic white tee and Urban Outfitters’ flat sandals for warm weather and Lucky Brand’s leather ankle booties for chiller days. You can also take this look to the office with Hale Bob’s quartz rose and serenity blue tie dye shirt dress, Pantone’s colors of the year. Simply switch out your conservative work heels for Loeffler Randall’s NEW ankle strap sandals and you are ready to hit the nightlife in style. From the workplace to the playground, you are sure to keep it groovin’ in the 70’s favorite print pattern.

SUBTLE FLORALS

We know, we know….”florals for Spring, groundbreaking.” But unlike last Spring’s bold flower pattern, designers this year are bringing a softer, more muted floral touch. Look for smaller shapes, delicate designs, and “watercolor” imaging. We like Hale Bob’s faux wrap sheath dress in soft pastels paired with Michael Kors’ “flex” pumps for the office and Lauren Lorraine’s embellished T-strap sandals for after work fun. We also like Hale Bob’s blush pink shift dress with a subtle floral pattern, perfect for any Springtime occasion. Looking for something a little more casual? Go with the floral pattern black cami paired with a matching ivory lace skort from Liberty Garden, comfy sneakers from NEW designer Ellen DeGeneres, and a straw hat from Eugenia Kim. Lastly, one of our favorites to suit any style, occasion, or figure, is Hale Bob’s flowy silk chiffon long sleeve blouse. Combine your delicate top with anything from ultra suede leggings to a white embroidered mini skirt to cropped boyfriend jeans from Citizen’s of Humanity. Get in touch with your feminine side this Spring, and add a hint of floral to your closet.

RUFFLES

Another favorite “feminine” style to walk down the runways this Season are ruffles everywhere. From Alexander McQueen’s delicate lace maxi skirts, to Balmain’s chiffon tops, to Giambattista’s retro dresses designers this year are re-inventing an age old style from decades ago. Spread a little romance this Spring, and shop Hale Bob’s flouncy ruffled floral sun dress paired with T-strap flat sandals from Diane von Furstenberg for everyday and the leather cage heels from Schutz for hot summer nights. Or put a little salsa in your step in Hale Bob’s black silk ruffled sleeveless mid length dress. If the climate is still a bit chilly, you can warm up by combining your dress with a cozy ivory fur jacket from Hale Bob and closed toed pumps from Kendall+Kylie. Ruffles aren’t just reserved for dresses. Slip into Hale Bob’s cool blue frilly washed silk top or the ruffled textured lace blouse accessorized with this Season’s trendy wide leg pants from AC Collection or black cotton eyelet shorts when the weather warms.

SLOUCHY PANTS

We finish with our favorite pants silhouette for Spring- the slouchy trousers. With designers taking a more casual and “no fuss” approach to Spring 2016 fashion, the slouchy pant is a perfect choice to keep you stylin’ all Season long. For casual days around the house or the perfect “athleisure” look, pair Liberty Garden’s grey embroidered terry lounge pants with Liberty Garden’s ivory swing back tee or grey draping sweatshirt on chillier Spring days. For the office or dressier occasions, switch to Hale Bob’s taupe or black satin cropped pants topped with a black laser cut cami, ivory pleated swing tank, or add a splash of color in a pink printed halter top. Accessorize your look with a taupe “military” jacket or black Bolero coat on cooler Spring days and nights. Wherever you choose to wear your slouchy pants, you will always appear casual, cool, confident, and completely in style.

SPRING’S FAVORITE BEAUTY TRENDS

springlook016_visuel

A few weeks ago we featured our favorite trending accessories for 2016. This week, we follow up with our top make up and hair trends seen on the runways this Season. Take a look at our choices below  and see how you can start pairing with your favorite fashion finds for Spring.

7391b861c803141de1562a05df11fb8c

BOLD LIPS

Gone are the days of “no makeup” makeup. This Spring, designers from Dolce & Gabbana to Jason Wu to DKNY went big and bold with all hues of red on the lips. Backstage makeup pro Yadim suggests keeping this look young and fresh by starting with “freshly scrubbed” skin, using only a light concealer to hide any blemishes, and finishing up with a sculpted “boyish” brow. We like Dolce & Gabbana’s Dolce Matte lipstick in an array of colors from dark mauve to cherry red to blood orange. If you’re not quite that daring, you can still experiment with the look by using a “barely there” lip tint like Stay All Day lip gloss from Stila. Pair your makeup look with a simple solid color outfit to enhance and draw attention to your bold lips. Throwback to the boppin’ 50’s in Hale Bob’s vintage black V neck dress accessorized with classic black satin pumps from Salvatore Ferragamo. Or go “Hollywood glam” in Hale Bob’s silk jeweled cocktail dress, gold flecked sandals by Schutz, and glitter box clutch from Kate Spade. Brighten up your Springtime look instantly this Season with a swipe of bold red lip color.

GO BLUE

Another bold make up trend seen on the runways this Season is the return of the blue eye shadow. Reminiscent of the 70’s and 80’s, this color can be tricky to navigate without looking too tacky. The key to succeeding with this look is to start with a fresh face with minimal cheeks and lips to emphasize the eyes. Get Kendall’s above runway look by swiping Urban Decay’s radium blue eyeshadow across the lids, lining with black gel eye crayon eyeliner from Marc Jacobs, and finishing with luminous emerald shimmer powder from Make Up For Ever. If you’d rather go with just a touch of blue, try Yves Saint Laurent’s luxurious lash extending blue mascara or simply swap out your usual liner for a crystal blue waterproof crayon eyeliner from Dior. Compliment your 70’s look in a black lace baby doll dress from Liberty Garden accessorized with a wide brim hat from Eric Javits and patchwork Vintage clogs NEW from Shellys London. Get groovy this year, and go blue.

QUARTZ ROSE MAKE UP

Pantone’s color of the year can be incorporated not only into your wardrobe collection, but also into your Spring make up regime. Update your coloring and add quartz rose pink for a girly, Seasonal glow. Start with a tinted foundation like Nars’ NEW Velvet Matte Skin Tint, formulated with SPF 30 to protect and transform your skin now and over time. Give your cheeks a light dusting of pink powder blush from MAC and sweep the same color over your eyes. Finish your look with a slight “cat eye,” brush of mascara, and swipe of Yves Saint Laurent hydrating lip tint to keep lips moisturized on colder days. Pair your fresh faced look with Liberty Garden’s NEW pale pink embroidered maxi or the blush pink suede shift dress from Hale Bob and you are sure to spread your sweet “scent” everywhere you go.

QUARTZ ROSE HAIR COLOR

If winter winds have done a number on your tresses, head to the stylist for a deep conditioning treatment, a trim of the old dead ends, and a fresh new hair color for Spring. If you are already blonde, go with this Season’s trendiest “gold pink” tint, topped off with a bouncy “blowout.” If you are a redhead, ask for a lighter hue, and for the brunettes, go “hipster” with pink streaks. Or be “pink” for a day with Splat Hair Chalk, a fun, temporary way to color your hair for just 24 hours. For the less daring, you can still get in on the trend by adding a “touch of pink” hair accessory to your everyday style. Look for glittering pink barrettes like L. Ericson’s “Swarovski Treasure Trove,” dainty headbands, handcrafted flower clips, or this Season’s trendy floral head piece embellishments from Erickson Beamon. Pair your luscious locks with a flouncy floral satin dress from Hale Bob or go matching in a pink printed jersey tank dress. Whether you choose to go gold pink this Spring or simply add the color to your hair accessory collection, be sure to include quartz rose into your fashion style this Season.

FLORAL HAIR EMBELLISHMENTS

As mentioned above, floral hair accessories are all the rage for Spring. From Rodarte to Alice + Olivia to Prada, the runways were filled with glittering flora and fauna this Season. Dress up Hale Bob’s short sleeved floral shift dress by accessorizing your tresses with a swarovski crystal embellished barrette by Colette Malouf and matching t-strap wedge sandals from Badgley Mischka. Try Spring’s top trend in Hale Bob’s “Boho” drop waist black and white embroidered dress paired with gladiator sandals from Rebecca Minkoff, a fringe crossbody from Free People, and a flowing floral lariat hair accessory. Or spruce up Hale Bob’s long sleeve romantic lace dress with nude floral sandals NEW from Kay Unger and a golden floral headband from designer Deepa Gurnani. Add a little embellishment to your everyday life this year.

BASEBALL CAP FOR ALL OCCASIONS

Another favorite hair accessory trending on the runways this Spring is the utilitarian ball cap. Not just reserved for game time, the baseball hat can be paired with anything from a floral sun dress for lunch out to cropped dress pants for work to a flowing maxi for a night out on the town. Accentuate your female physic while keeping it casual by pairing Hale Bob’s printed pink tank dress with the new platform sneakers from Superga and net overlay cap from Alexander Wang. Segue into the evening hours with iridescent ankle strap sandals from Loeffler Randall , a silver studded clutch by Sarah Jessica Parker, and an embellished sequin hat from Shourouk. Carry the look to the office by combining Hale Bob’s classy metallic floral capri pants with a flouncy ivory silk tank, black Bolero blazer, classic pumps by Charles David, and a black leather cap from Kate Spade. Dressy or casual. Day out or day in. Be sure to incorporate the baseball hat into your wardrobe collection this year.

ROPE BRAID

And finally, if all of our top hair and make up trends just really don’t appeal to you, try the simple and easy-to-do rope braid. Instead of sweeping your hair into the usual pony, try something new this Season. Achieve this hairstyle by dividing your ponytail into two or three equal sections and lacquering with Bumble and Bumble classic hairspray to prevent frizziness or flyaway. Sport this style on your way to the gym or errand day around town. You’ll feel like you just stepped off the runway by pairing your hairdo with Hale Bob’s long sleeve beaded shift dress or classic black lace tank dress on your next date night. Trying something new this year doesn’t have to be complicated. Try the rope braid this Spring.

For work, pair your skirt with a crisp button down from Liberty Garden and matching low heeled red pumps from Trotters for all day comfort. Mid-afternoon lunch beak with the girls? As twilight approaches, accessorize your look for evening with a pretty floral silk blouse from Hale Bob, ankle strap heels from Stuart Weitzman, and a black overcoat from London Fog if the weather turns chilly. BOYFRIEND JEANS AND BLAZER

No need to stress this holiday season. Dress comfortably yet stylishly in your favorite boyfriend jeans topped with a bush pink blazer and simple white Tee. Polish the look off with your favorite pair of pumps and you are ready for Valentine’s Day fun. We like AC Collection’s distressed light wash “Mystique” boyfriend jeans paired with Liberty Garden’s ivory lace swing back tee, blush pink blazer from BCBG, and strappy floral heels from Sam Edelman. Whip your hair into a sleek pony, and segue into the evening hours by topping your jeans with Hale Bob’s black lace bodysuit and Betsey Johnson’s matching rose sandals for a “hot without trying too hard” nighttime style. You don’t have to be uncomfortable to turn heads your way this weekend.

BLACK JEANS AND POLKA DOTS

Another comfy yet classy Valentine’s Day look this year is your favorite black jeans paired with a fun polka dot printed blouse. Easily adaptable for any event you have planned this weekend, the jeans keep you comfortable while the top shows your girly side. Start with Hudson’s cropped skinny jeans paired with Hale Bob’s polka dot blouse and classic pumps from Jimmy Choo. Since we’ve heard from fashion expert Rachel Zoe that the skinny pant may be on it’s way out for Spring 2016, get ahead of the trend and grab a pair of AC Collection’s “Boho” black flare dress pants or go flowy in the black wide leg pants. Whichever way you choose to style, you can’t go wrong with this comfy classic outfit on Valentine’s Day.

WHITE LACE SHORTS AND CROP TOP

Who says you have to reserve shorts only for summer time? Now is the perfect time to get ahead of the Season and show off those toned legs you’ve been working on at the gym. Start with Hale Bob’s white cotton floral embroidered shorts paired with Liberty Garden’s black lace crochet tank top, and accessorized with Ylang23’s black leather cuff, black lace pumps by Charles David, and studded clutch from Diane von Furstenberg. Or sparkle in style with Hale Bob’s NEW black sequined lace short sleeve shirt topped with Liberty Garden’s ivory lace skort. If neither of these looks suit you, try one of this Season’s hottest trends with Liberty Garden’s ivory lace romper seen all over Spring 2016’s runways this year. On Valentine’s Day, don’t be afraid to show off those gams and shine in style.

HOT PINK SUNDRESS

Another great silhouette you can go ahead and bring out to wear is Summer’s favorite sun dress. It’s not too early to try some of the Season’s newest trends, colors, and styles. Start with Hale Bob’s strapless fuchsia silk ruffle dress paired with nude ankle strap sandals from Gucci, gold cuff from Vita Fede, and matching clutch from Kate Spade. When the weather turns chilly, throw on a chic cropped Bolero jacket from Hale Bob or go “Boho” in Liberty Garden’s faux suede trimmed lace poncho. If strapless doesn’t suit your style, try Hale Bob’s magenta short sleeve lace dress accessorized with your favorite booties, pumps, or sandals. Whichever dress type you choose, let it be pink, let it be pretty, and let it be you!

MARSALA COLORED DRESS

Continuing as one of this Season’s most popular colors, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to pull out this “wine colored” number. You’ll have your honey ready to pour you the first glass as you strut the streets in style. Go sleek in Hale Bob’s long sleeve lace dress with peplum, perfectly accentuating an hourglass figure. Structured more your style? Then go with Milly’s sleeveless crepe mini dress with oversized belt to emphasize a trim waistline. Planning a night of dinner and dancing? Shimmer away in Parker Black’s sequined silk dress perfect for any body type. No matter which dress silhouette you decide on, fashion experts agree that the best shoe to pair with a marsala dress and also to lengthen the leg line is a nude colored heel. Our classic favorite is Christian Louboutin’s nude pointy toe pump, but if you can’t quite indulge that much then, go with a similar leather pump from Schutz. Perfect for whatever your holiday plans might entail, a marsala hued gown is just right for you.

BLUSH PINK MAXI

Our final top pick for Valentine’s Day 2016 ends with a luscious blush pink and ivory maxi dress. Reminiscent of the romantic days of old yet re-designed for a new century, this maxi dress is one you’ll want to keep wearing all Season long. We like Liberty Garden’s pale pink embroidered crinkle cami dress paired with Free People’s gladiator sandals for a “Boho” look, wedge sandals from Corso Como for a moonlight walk on the beach, or Topshop’s feather sandals for a candlelit dinner for two. Since the dress makes enough of a statement, you don’t have to accessorize with much else. Just grab your favorite clutch, toss your hair back, and you are ready for a romantic night on the town.

o-VALENTINES-DAY-COUPLE-AGE-facebook

From red hot pencil skirts to girlie polka dots to romantic maxi dresses, there is a perfect Valentine’s Day style to fit you this Season. No matter if you are planning a day out with the girls, a casual party at home, dinner with the family, or an evening with your honey, you are sure to make a statement without having to say a word this holiday.

ELEGANT EVENING

Yes, you can even carry your sneakers and skirt look into the twilight hours. The key to making this style work for dressier evening occasions is to forget the formal cocktail dress, and go with a tulle or midi length skirt and evening sweater or blouse combo. Start with a soft grey tulle skirt from Bailey 44 , top with an elegant grey draping sweatshirt from Liberty Garden, and complete with shocking pink sneakers from Nike or sparkle in style with glitter high tops from Maison Margiela. If sleek is more your style, grab Hale Bob’s grey or black floral lace pencil skirt with half slippair with Hale Bob’s lace sweater knit long sleeve shirt, and accessorize with Kate Spade’s glitter black slip ons and matching clutch from Whiting & Davis. You won’t have to complain about aching feet  on your next evening out with this Spring party trend.

Get the above look with a black leather pencil skirt from Joe’s Jeans , a comfy slim fitted black jersey tee from The Row and leopard print slip on sneakers from designer Saint Laurent. We also like Hale Bob’s soft brown leather fringed pencil skirt paired perfectly with Michael Stars’ cowl neck asymmetrical knit top and tropical floral print slip ons from Nike. These finishing touches may feel a little foreign to your usual straightforward style, but that’s the point. Take a deep breath, embrace their “wow” factor, and let them take you way out of your comfort zone this year. Peruse our top 6 accessory finds trending on the runways, and take a chance by adding one or all into your wardrobe collection this Season.

SILK SCARF

One of the simplest yet stylish looks seen on the runways is the unique use of Spring’s silk scarf. Apart from its practical use in keeping you warm throughout the transitional months of Springtime, your favorite scarf can be used as a statement piece as well. Transform a simple denim outfit into that “wow” factor by coiling  Tory Burch’s “Souvenir” silk scarf around your neck like a necklace, one favorite look on the Nina Ricci and Dior runways. At a loss for other ways to tie your favorite scarf? Take a look at the “Posh at Play” Facebook page for our 3 quick video tutorials on other top trending ways to fashion your favorite scarf. Staying stylish this Season can be as simple as finding creative uses for the items already in your closet, and utilizing them in new ways.

EMBELLISHED HEADPIECES

Bye bye 2015 floppy hats and hello 2016 embellished headpieces. While “Boho” is still a trend on the runways for Spring, designers this Season are updating the look with unusual new pieces. From Saint Laurent’s tiaras to Diane von Furstenberg’s flowers to Dolce & Gabbana’s scarves, head wear got an upgrade this year. Long hair or short, add a new embellishment to dress up your everyday style. If “bling” is your thing, let your hair down and drape Rahaminov’s Forevermore diamond necklace across your brow or accent an up do with Oscar de la Renta’s  crystal embellished headband. If you are the girly type, try adding Nina’s white organza flower clip to a side ponytail or topknot. And for those really bad hair days, try tying one of Bally’s wide selection of silk scarves around your tresses in vintage 60’s style. Whichever head piece you choose, be sure to include one of this Season’s hair accessory trends into your fashion collection.

BRIGHT MATCHING HANDBAG

Playing off of last Season’s all over color, designers this year are matching bright handbags with same colored outfits. Forget contrast. This Spring is all about single toned style. First, start with your favorite trending Spring color like canary yellow, or cherry red, or quartz rose and serenity blue, Pantone’s colors of the year. Next, match your pants, dress, or overcoat with your handbag and shoes in the same color tone. Shine like the sun in Kate Spade’s solar yellow crossbody bag paired with Hale Bob’s cotton sateen skinny pants, and Liberty Garden’s scoop neck tank with high low hemOr, tone things down in a tranquil pink and blue long sleeve tie dye dress from Hale Bob accessorized with a matching blue leather satchel from Rebecca Minkoff and quartz rose Adrianna Papell strappy sandals for evening or trendy “ballerina” lace up flats from Kristin Cavallari  on casual days out.

ORNATE EARRINGS

Now is not the time to shy away from bigger, bolder baubles to enhance your Spring style. To keep your look fresh and modern, try pairing your earrings with only 1 other statement piece to keep from getting lost in all the glimmer. For everyday style, dazzle in long crystal earrings from Heather Hawkins or oversized black hoop earrings from GAS Bijoux. On dressier occasions, go with Elizabeth Cole’s 20’s inspired ocean grey stone dangle earrings paired perfectly with a gold plated crystal pendant necklace. Tap into your playful side this Season with Betsey Johnson’s “princess charming” drop earrings, white puff balls from Tuleste, or “hot snacks” dangles from Vanessa Arizaga. Whichever earring style you go with this year, just remember that bigger is better.

LACE UP BALLERINA FLATS

From Michael Kors to Etro, designers are still obsessed and entranced by the ballet. While the ballerina flat has been a fashion staple for the past few Seasons, designers this year updated the look by adding a pointy toe and lace up ankle for true “pointe shoe” style. Pirouette into Spring with a flowy blush pink crinkle cami maxi dress fresh from Liberty Garden or ivory embroidered strapless dress paired with “fresh off the runway” lace up ballerina flats from Michael Kors. On chillier Spring days, simply top your look with a snug gray chunky sweater from Zady or ivory layered ultra suede shirt from Hale Bob. If you only add one pair of new shoes this Season, let it be the pointy toed ballerina flat.

STATEMENT SHOES

And finally, make a statement without saying a word in a pair of embellished shoes that express your unique style. From Gucci’s chunky heels to Marc Jacobs’ western booties to Tory Burch’s ornate heels, designers went wild with their own creative foot wear creations this Season. The key to styling statement shoes is to keep your outfit simple in order to highlight the unique accessory. Get a similar look as featured above with a white lace romper from Cynthia Rowley paired with fringe chunky heels from Free People and a colorful clutch from La Regale. If “Boho” fringe is not quite your style, go for a pop of color in Gwen Stefani’s new “Malibu” sandals or kick up your heels in Jeffrey Campbell’s rainbow patterned western booties. You can also strut your style at the gym in Casadei’s silver glitter accented athletic sneakers topped perfectly with your favorite comfy Tee and black leggings from Hale Bob. Dressy or casual. Daytime or nighttime. Dinner or the gym. Let your personality shine in your own unique pair of foot wear this Season.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES AT A RUNWAY FASHION SHOW

Bronx_W14_Scene_05

Have you ever wondered what it takes to produce a runway fashion show? This week Posh at Play goes behind-the-scenes at two of the biggest fashion events for L.A. Fashion Week. You will see what happens behind the curtain at FIDM’s Debut Runway Show, L.A.’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Then we’ll meet model Ella Garcia and take a peek at the new collections from Hale Bob, Sue Wong, Nicole Miller and several other designers at the exclusive Project Ethos Fashion Event.

THE DESIGNERS

All fashion shows begin in the designer’s creative mind. Most designers start with a theme, certain pattern or favorite color and build upon that idea. Designers spend hours sketching their clothing designs out on paper  and then begin to gather favorite fabrics and accessory materials. Together with their creative team, designers begin to bring their drawings to life. After countless hours, a designer’s “collection” is complete.

FullSizeRender-11

At this year’s FIDM Debut Runway show in L.A., designer Daniel Henson was inspired from his trip to Africa and used actual photographs he took with his camera as patterns for his clothing collection.

Designer Samantha Sneed combined two favorite looks, Equestrian and Americana, to create a unique menswear for women collection.

THE COLLECTION

After a “collection” is complete, models are fitted with the clothing pieces that the designer chooses to highlight in the show. Adjustments are made, and the designer’s creative ideas are now ready to be displayed for the audience and fashion critics from around the world. It’s an exciting moment to see the designer’s concept brought to life on each of the models.

IMG_1531

REHEARSAL

A few days before the show, there is a rehearsal or “run through” with the models, designers, and entertainers. Fashion shows usually take place in a huge warehouse which is decorated with risers for the general audience, VIP seating for honored guests, a long runway, a backstage for the models and entertainers, and top of the art sound and lighting equipment. For FIDM, the set up and rehearsals required 7-8 hours spread over 4 days prior to the show. Though everyone is exhausted, there is also an exciting momentum building for the day of the show.

After thousands of hours of work, the show day arrives. For the FIDM Debut, the crew and makeup and hair teams arrive in the morning for last minute set up. The models and designers begin to arrive mid-afternoon to prepare for the evening show. Entertainers also arrive to get their hair and makeup done to suit the designer’s style. FIDM used hairstylists from Paul Mitchell and makeup artists from Napoleon to design the models looks.

ENTERTAINMENT

Each Fashion Show usually starts with a celebrity entertainer or a musical presentation. At the FIDM Debut, entertainers danced to a collection of Hollywood Musicals from “Mame” to “Hello Dolly” to “Sister Act.” Throughout the Show,  upbeat pop music plays as the models walk the runway in order to enhance the designer’s clothing and create an exciting atmosphere.

THE RUNWAY

The fashion show begins as each designer’s collection is presented by the runway models. The designer only chooses select pieces that represent the desired theme.

A sea of photographers set up their cameras at the end of the runway to capture each of one of the designer’s styles. The photos are then sent to fashion magazines and publications around the world.

So what is it like being a runway model? At L.A.’s Fashion Week, we caught up with rising runway model Ella Garcia. Ella is 17 years old and already in high demand with L.A. designers. She modeled for more designers than any other model in her agency, and though still young, she is poised and ready to hit the big time. She plans to move to New York City in the summer and hopefully, be picked up by a top modeling agency. Her dream is to become an international high fashion runway model for the top designers in the world today. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite styles Ella modeled for L.A. Fashion Week.
