I don’t know about you but I love suede; it is luxurious without being pretentious and is the perfect transition fabric from fall to winter or winter to spring because it provides a layer of extra warmth that many of the new manufactured textiles are lacking. The other great thing about suede is it doesn’t take the eye of a stylist to pull a look together you can pair it with almost anything for an instant pop of style. There are only two simple rules to follow when wearing suede:

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT layer yourself on suede. It is so rich and distinctive that too much of it leaves your outfit looking heavy and overdone, kind of like the feeling you have after eating too much chocolate cake. These two outfits above are the perfect examples.

Suede will inevitably always be the statement piece of your outfit so let it stand alone or pair it with items that are more subdued and act as a complement to highlight your statement.

Olive Suede Dress
Future Glory Bag

These jackets are the perfect example of making a statement without going over the top.
Outfit 1:

The other great thing about suede is it can be dressed up or down, the two examples above illustrate this perfectly; shabby chic versus being casually refined.

Outfit 2:
Camel Suede Mini Skirt

Use suede to add depth and texture to leggings or a simple silk shirt.

The reach out and touch me allure of this fabric adds a pop of posh to Boho Chic.

And last but not least if you want to capture a small slice of luxury you can always incorporate accessories; a suede hat, shoes or handbag into your style.

A Modern Take On Apostolic Fashion

girl-meets-glam-modest-fashionWe are coming out of one of the most depraved and ugly election seasons in the history of our country. If you are like me you are ready to leave all of this talk of corruption and perversity behind and return your focus to all of the things that make life beautiful. We are even seeing this desire manifest in the world of fashion. There is an exciting new trend, a return to modest dressing. Here at Posh At Play we want to jump on board and celebrate this return to modest, feminine style. Apostolic Fashion is all about using clothing to highlight the beauty of what makes a woman unique; wearing dresses instead of pants, while at the same time not exploiting her sexuality but rather illuminating her femininity; clothing that does not expose breasts or thighs. It is so refreshing and brings a long needed innocent beauty back to the fashion industry. It is time for a fresh perspective on what makes a woman truly beautiful.

Graceful Beauty

There is something so stunning about a woman who dresses modestly. It leaves something to the imagination and actually draws attention to and highlights the beauty of her face, which exemplifies who she is without the distraction of in your face sexuality. Several celebrity women in the spotlight who exemplify this trend toward dignified allure are Kate Middleton, Olivia Palermo & Emma Stone.

Modest And Modern

Despite what some may think modest fashion does not have to be old-fashioned or frumpy looking. Style bloggers Julia Engel @GirlMeetsGlam and Sarah Vickers @ClassyGirlsWearPearls are both great examples of dressing with modest femininity while still maintaining a modern style.

Iconic Apostolic Style

It is almost impossible to think of anyone who represents modest femininity better than style icon Jacqueline Kennedy. She is the epitome of timeless classy style. Grace Kelley pictured below also exemplifies this aesthetic.

Yes ladies, lets exchange the term “hot chick” and cat calls on the street for the reference  “lovely lady” and chivalrous men who hold doors open and carry heavy packages.

This year we thought instead of coming up with a generic list of gift giving ideas we would capitalize on the rich variety of women we have on our staff and have them share a few of their favorite things that would make perfect gifts for women with their unique areas of interest.

Lauren who joined us in 2015 has studied at the Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy and worked in the restaurant industry as a chef; once the reality of the rigors of the restaurant business set-in she decided to switch gears and leave the culinary creativity for home. She offered up her gift suggestions that even the novice home chef or food lover will be delighted to receive.

This item is definitely a splurge, each knife is handmade and designed not only to work well but to be a work of art in and of itself. This is a dream gift for me but I have added it to my list for Santa.

Middleton Knives

THE WINE WAND:wine-wand-christmas-giftGenerally, if you love food you love wine; this rule definitely applies to me but I hate dealing with the allergic reaction I can sometimes have to sulfites and histamines in wine, a headache and stuffy nose can really rob this indulgence of its enjoyment. The Wine Wand allows you to enjoy your favorite wine with no down-side. This amazing filter aerates the wine, absorbs histamines and removes sulfites so you can enjoy every glass with no regrets. Pure genius!

Wine Wand

This item is also on the pricey side but I feel so inspired by its beauty every time I use it, definitely worth the splurge.

Heirloom Cutting Board

Even the most experienced chef or home cook really doesn’t want to go through the effort to make ice cream, so this is the perfect treat. McConnell’s makes all of their ice cream in small batches with raw unpasteurized grass-grazed cows. All of their gourmet blends include raw, local, sustainable, organic ingredients.

Pint of The Month Club

hale-bob-white-maxi-dressOne of the most important things when I am in the kitchen prepping food or entertaining guests is to look good and be comfortable. I love this simple strapless maxi dress by Hale Bob; I can move around easily, no worrying about flashing someone if I have to bend over to take something out of the oven and there is plenty of room if I decide to have a second helping of dessert.

Braxton Maxi Dress

I like getting something personal and feminine from my significant other that makes me feel like I am still his babe. Personally I love wearing sexy lingerie under everything, even jeans and a sweatshirt, It just makes me feel like a woman.

Adore Me Noreh Bra and Panties

Alexis is the outdoors woman of the group. When she is not working she spends her time training horses and teaching horse back riding lessons to the youth in her area. Here are a few of her favorite things.

I am always in need of new sunglasses. Being outside all the time means lots of sun protection. I have had several pairs of these glasses they fit good and they last. A definite favorite.

Serpico Sunglasses

Cowgirls For Christ is a company I discovered last year at Cowboy Christmas. I got one of these last year and I absolutely love it. It provides great shade from the sun, fits great and is unique to me.

I spend a lot of time in the mud and snow, a good pair of boots goes a long way. I love these because there are not laces so they are easy to slip on and off. They are dry, warm and cute; of course it is important to look cute even if you are cleaning out stalls.

Bogs Plaid Boots

Let me just say, I love leggings! They are so comfortable and easy to move around in, you can dress them up or down, they fit nicely inside of a pair of riding boots and can be worn as riding britches. The Ponte fabric on these keeps them from stretching out so they hold their shape.

Ponte Leggings

Okay, so I know undies for Christmas is not usually high on the list or is the classic gift from grandma no, no but when they are this cute I think any woman would be happy to receive them.

Adore Me Rosalia Bralette and Panty

Hannah is our working mom in the group. As all working mom’s know finding the right work life balance is challenging to say the least. Below is her wish list this year. Oh hubby, are you listening?

This company delivers gourmet meals right to your door. Having dinner covered every once in a while is at the top of my list for gifts I would love to receive because that means when the kiddos get home from school I could actually give them my undivided attention with homework or play a board game.

Send A Meal

I love capturing moments on my phone but never get those photos printed and they end up staying in this supposedly smartphone instead of on my wall, so a photo printer that can print image directly from the phone is the perfect solution. Not to mention when we are at Grandma and Grandpa’s house I can live them with a printed photo of the kids on the spot.

Sprocket Photo Printer

No not the psychological kind but I have to admit some days I feel like I need that as well. Some evenings I just need to wind down and I feel bad even thinking about going to the spa so this home spa retreat set is my choice, it definitely helps me keep my sanity.

Invigorating Retreat

I’m sentimental but not to big on crazy knick knack’s to remind me of special times with my family (dusting is not my favorite chore). Solution, I’ve always loved charm bracelets but have never felt great about purchasing one for myself because I’ve always felt that something like that should be a gift.

I like being fashionable but with kids acticality and comfort normally come first, I love this sweatshirt because it is comfortable and the leather detail gives it that fashionable edge so I can wear it without looking frumpy.

Alma Embossed Sweatshirt

With kids around lingerie is not really practical but I still want to feel feminine and sexy in a toned down sort of way, of course. I love this Adore Me Fallon knit jogger set, it is comfortable but still makes me feel really feminine.

Adore Me Fallon Jogger Set

Brittany is our student, still in the process of growing her young mind and deciding which PHD she is going to pursue. But she definitely knows her own mind when it comes to the perfect Christmas gift. Here are her selections.

I love to read. I strongly believe that by reading regularly it keeps your mind fluid and very imaginative. Whether random articles about the fluctuation of bird populations in the Northwest of the United States, fun tips on how to be more energetic every day or a great mystery novel; you can never go wrong getting me a book. I love this book of the month club because you pick the genre and your interest and then a knew literary adventure shows up at your door once a month.

Book of The Month Club

one-piece-jumpsuitWhat better to cover up under while you’re studying or reading than a One Piece? Especially when you are forced to sit at a desk, a One Piece is a sure way to keep your entire body warm and still have easy arm access. This is totally what I look like at my desk, LOL.

One Piece Onesie

I am sure this is an amazing two-fer that is definitely a students dream!

Pizza Cutting Protractor

When I’m cuddled up at home I like to have coffee and it’s always nice having some sort of wacky mug to remind me of home. Another favorite; travel mugs they make staying awake during class a lot easier.

Wacky Mugs

This sweatshirt by Liberty Garden is perfect to wear to class or at home studying. You can look stylish while also being comfortable.

I can always use another pair of adorable PJ’s.

Adore Me Nicoletta Jammies

Ashley is our traditionalist of the group, she loves all things feminine, tailored and luxurious. Here is her Christmas Wish List.

cashmere-scarf-glove-setMy Christmas List indulgence this year is a 100% Pure Cashmere Hat, Glove, Scarf set from Fisher’s Finery. I love Pure Cashmere; it is so soft and warm it gives you that sense of being snuggled up by the fire every time you put it on.

Cashmere Winter Set

What I’m dreaming of for Christmas is a good night’s sleep, so on my Christmas List is the Aura Connected Alarm Clock. This little gadget provides the right light waves to promote a relaxing environment to induce sleep, along with sounds that can help soothe you to sleep. It can also be customized to your light and music preferences for a gentle wake-up experience.

Aura Connected Alarm Clock

One of the bests gifts I ever received was a massage. I had never done anything to pamper myself before and this was a novelty that I always considered outside my usual time and expense. However, once I did take advantage of this amazing gift, I was completely hooked. Thereafter, I made time and set aside the finance to make this special occasion part of my routine every few months. Each time I went in for pampering I felt more and more rested. An added perk is that I got to develop a friendship with my massage therapist.

Massage Envy

There is a revival of the ruffle neck blouse and my Christmas List is not immune to its attraction. I am in love with this trend as it lends femininity to what is usually a stiff, buttoned down tradition. So this year I am wishing for Ann Taylor’s Tie Neck Ruffle.

Tie Neck Ruffled Blouse

This Hale Bob dress perfect for any occasion, it’s flattering, demure and a great transition piece.

Morgan Jacquard Knit Dress

I confess, I am even traditional when it comes to P.J.’s. I love these because they are so soft and comfy; and honestly I think leaving something up to the imagination can be very sexy.

Adore Me Matilda Pajama Set

Well there you have it, some advice from the girl’s on  our staff here at Posh At Play. We hope you have found there suggestions helpful and will have some very pleased recipients of your generosity this Christmas.

This week one of our fashion bloggers is set loose on the streets of New York City to discover and report the latest trends in Fall fashion street wear. What is the common girl on the street wearing to business, lunch, and evening? And how do New Yorkers incorporate fashion into their busy, non stop lifestyles? Let’s discover what’s trending and find out ways you can implement into your Seasonal wardrobe and your lifestyle needs this year.

In preparation for the trip, I ended up packing only one bomber leather jacket. However, I should have followed the chic coat option all of New York is wearing this Season. In the city that never sleeps, women know that an all purpose, durable coat is the way to go for Fall. Lighter than fur or wool, the camel trench coat is one of this Season’s favorite jacket options, suitable paired over your work suit and later with a chic midi dress and over the knee suede boots.

Be FURocious

Being from L.A., I had wondered if “fur” is a taboo touchy clothing piece for Fall so ended up leaving my faux fur vest and real fur jacket at home. That’s not the case here in NYC. Cozy fur vests and coats are all the rage paired over anything from business suits to a day out in Central Park, faux of course for the protection of animals.

And Don’t Forget The Brights

You hear the myth that all New Yorkers only wear black and dark colors, so as to not stand out too much as a tourist, I opted to pack and wear neutral colors only. Boy was I wrong. New York women know how to stand in color, but with a more sophisticated approach. They pair one brightly lit statement piece and accessorize with solid colors and minimal jewelry. Try your black slacks with a bright outer piece to stand out like an “Oh So Chic” New Yorker.

Throw out the “no white” after Labor Day rule, and make your own rules like the New York women do. I tend to always push my white and ivory clothes to the back of the closet for Fall and Winter, but the New York women know that rules were made to be broken. They steer clear of silk and chiffon pieces, in favor of heavier fabrics like wool. I am actually on the look out for a white leather jacket for Fall here in the Fashion District.

Seen outside Carnegie Hall, I liked how she dressed up for the night in a tailored dress and crisp heels for a busy night out on the town.

I’ve always been a bit leery of wearing a barely there silk slip dress during the Fall. But New Yorkers are pairing the slinky silhouette this Season with hardier fare, from tees underneath, to moto jackets, to long trenches. Combine with your favorite ankle boots for downtown shopping style and switch to strappy heels as you head to a Broadway show. Check out this flowy one I found at Bloomingdale’s in the heart of the city.
Need a little romance in your afternoon? Try a glitter knit slip dress paired with a chunky oversized cardigan for a chic and comfortable New York errand running girl. No time for a trip home? Pull slinky heels from your tote and meet friends at Hudson Clearwater hidden restaurant.
Check out the Brooklyn Museum  in a sophisticated black & white slip dress and leather jacket then dine at Saul for a NY evening to remember.

And speaking of ankle boots, they are my “go to” shoes roaming the streets of NYC. As I expected, the streets are covered with every single boot style imaginable, from combat, to suede, to rocker style, to patent leather. My ankle boots were perfect to pair with my leggings all day and with my jumpsuit at night for the ballet. If you only get one shoe this Fall, get the versatile ankle boot.

What a great styling option, suitable for women from young to old. Skinnies are easy to pack and slim the leg on everyone. I brought a variety of these adaptable pants to switch out with different shirt options. How does New York style their skinnies? With an oversized chunky sweater and ankle boots or heels for a night on the town. I just had to head to Macy’s on 34th to grab me a pair of NYC’s favorite.
The vest and skinny work easily for the office or a chill fall NY day. Pair your black lace skinnies with a long sleeve knit top and oversized vest for office days or shimmy into your favorite jeans and satin top and stroll Manhattan for a totally you afternoon.

Since I only took 1 carryon, I had to think about layers while in NYC. How do they keep so warm, especially on brisk windy Fall days? I spotted jeans paired with a plaid long sleeveinfinity scarf, and a chic wool blazer; an A line skirt with long sleeve sweater tucked in; and I myself wore leggings, tight sweater, and warm vest that kept me comfy all night long.

On the go? Shimmy into a pair of leggings, pullover an oversized sweater and slip into to some concrete loving kicks for a busy New York Minute.

No matter how you choose to layer, the ONE item all New Yorkers never go without is a long warm scarf. From Central Park to Broadway to Greenwich, these girls know how to style a scarf. Layer a long draping sweater over a knit top and infinity scarf with your favorite jeans tucked into some serious leather combat boots for a NY City walk about.
So whether you’re in The City to see the sites, taste to food, listen to the music or everything in between. Be sure to dress like a local, but always remember to
Be YOU, Be Fashionable, and ALWAYS Be Feminine.

As the weather cools, it’s time to start “snuggling up” to Fall’s cooler climate. With the first day of Autumn on Thursday, September 22nd, let’s usher in the new Season in a cozy way. This week, we focus on several ways you can “wrap up” in the colorful Season ahead. Take a look at our suggestions below.

Ah, the first few days of Fall. Thoughts of cozy knits and new boots quickly spring to mind. But before you switch over your closet to the heavier threads, consider keeping what is perhaps the single most transitional piece in constant rotation: the wrap dress. Not only is it timeless and all-occasion, it’s seasonless, too—a look that can go easily from day to night, from Summer to Fall.

The trick to properly transitioning the wrap dress is to start thinking in layers. When worn over a slim bodysuit and jeans, a “kimono” version is given new life, particularly when elevated by a great pair of heels.

A swift shoe swap (sturdy boots for strappy sandals) will fare in more challenging climate conditions.

And a lacy slip worn underneath a shirted style takes the look into cocktail territory. But don’t just stop at the wrap dressTake a look at our other “wrapped” Fall ideas you won’t want to miss below.

Check out our favorite wrapped dress styles for Fall:
“Ella” Long Sleeve Jersey Knit Dress
“Utilitarian Chic” Black Silk Wrap Dress

Why not try out a wrapped mini skirt? Paired with a button down and blazer, it’s suitable for the office and lunch out with the girls. You can pair the look with slip on mules as pictured above, or your favorite over the knee boots for a bit of high fashion glam.

Our favorite button down blouses this Season:
“Mariane” Silk Floral Button Down
“Scarf” Black Silk Charmeuse Blouse
“Washed Silks” Ivory Button Down
“Christal” Ivory Bubble Gauze Button Down

You can always cover up with your favorite fur vest for medium coverage and midi boots when the weather turns a bit crisp. This look is also suitable for evening cocktails, or trade out your boots for shimmering strappy heels for nighttime fun when the weather is mild.

Check out our favorite wrapped minis for Fall:
“Asiah” Beige Ultra Suede Skirt
“Patchwork” Black Suede Mini

Get cozy in this Season’s favorite wrapped sweater. We love that you can pair with anything from jeans, to leggings, to skirts, to dresses. The wrap sweater is the perfect transitional cover-up piece which provides just enough warmth for those in-between Fall days ahead.

Get ahead of the game and start shopping the wrapped sweater trend  ←FIX LINK BEFORE the weather changes so that you’ll be prepared and ready for the first chilly day of the Season.

When the weather turns blustery yet not cold enough for a thicker coat, consider draping yourself in a cozy wool scarf. Wrap around your body and cinch at the waist with your favorite threaded belt for a chic silhouette.

Accessorize with your favorite “skinny jeans” here:
Hudson’s “Collin” Skinny Jeans
“Nico” Mid Rise Animal Print Skinny Jeans
AC Collection’s High Waisted Black Skinny Jeans

Wrap around your neck to feel cozy and warm against the chilly night air.

Or, drape around your shoulder casually over your favorite outfit. No matter how you style, you’ll want to include a cozy wool scarf into your wardrobe collection this Fall.

For more ways to tie your favorite scarf, check out this handy DIY tutorial:

Wrap yourself with the one you love in a comfy, cozy blanket for Fall. Whether you take a romantic stroll through the forest, picnic on the grassy knoll, or use as a “quasi” Fall coat, stay snuggly warm in your favorite wrap this Season.

Stack your favorite cozy blankets on the couch for a quick cuddle, or for the unexpected guest that decides to stay the night. They will appreciate the gesture and you’ll have easy access to staying warm without having to crank up the heater.

While we’re talking about keeping warm, why not fashion your own coffee cup knit cozy to keep your favorite Fall beverage hot. Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Cinnamon Espressos are back for the Season, so keep your favorite hot drink sippable with our favorite DIY knitting project.

WRAPPED UP IN HOME DECOR il_570xn-471306382_dkic

You can also create a warm embracing environment with your own wrapped candle holders. Fall is the Season for sweet cinnamon, spicy pumpkin, and crisp leaf scents from your favorite candle shop. Accentuate your favorite candles with a homemade wrapped decor.

Here’s how:
Simply use a glue gun and run a bead around the candle and affix each leaf. Then, take the ribbon you’ll be using and wrap both the leaves and candle, tying with a droopy bow.

And finally, nothing can keep you as warm as being wrapped up in love. Whether it’s your kids, your partner, or your family, don’t forget to extend your love to the people that mean the most to you.

Check out one of our favorite ways to express your feelings to the one you love most:

However you choose to “wrap” yourself this Fall, be sure to do it out of love. Whether you choose to treat yourself to a new wrap sweater, write your loved one a love poem, or snuggle deep into a warm blanket, now is the time to take advantage of the changing of the Seasons and embrace the changes to come.

Remember, we here at Posh at Play always encourage you to
Be You, Be Fabulous, and ALWAYS Be Feminine.

New season, new you! Much like the first day of the year, back-to-school season is about starting over, wiping your slate clean, relishing beginnings, and all that. That means either reinvention with a complete wardrobe overhaul or, your same look, but enhanced with key purchases. Whether you are actively pursuing “a look” like an ’80s mom aesthetic with a blazer and burgundy midi boots or are splurging on a one hero investment, like a sleek double-breasted coat in preparation for winter or a newly discovered carryall that will last a lifetime, scroll through to find out what you should buy this month, because we definitely are.

Why not “borrow from the boys” with a menswear button down blazer? Whether you choose to steal your partner’s jacket, or find a more tailored style to fit your silhouette, this is an easy way to spruce up your Fall wardrobe with the things you already have in your closet.

Don’t just reserve the menswear jacket for daytime. You can also pair your coat with your favorite dress and sheer tights to keep you warm against Fall’s chilly nights.

Check out our favorite “menswear” style jackets here:
“East Meets West” Taupe Beaded Ponte Jacket
“Bolero” Black Jacket

We found the perfect Fall carryall- a hobo bag is roomy enough to hold an iPad, but not too big that it overwhelms. Mix a deep brown shade with your favorite flare jeans for a subtle style or go with a bright pop of color added to your normal fashion routine. And to top it off, we love that you can buy different types of straps (woven, chain, etc) to match whatever mood you’re in.

Our favorite flare jeans to match the hobo bag with:
1921’s “Distressed” Denim Jeans
AC Collection’s Medium Wash Flare Jeans
Hudson’s “Ferris Flap” Pocket Flap Jeans

All the faded jeans, slouchy overalls, and leggings in your wardrobe simply cannot survive Fall without the help of a cozy long-sleeve knit sweater in a statement color or print. Whether you prefer a chevron, animal, or sequin print, make a statement without saying a word this Season.

Check out our favorite “statement sweater” options you can try:
“Design to Mesmerize” Pink Chevron Sweater
“Sequin” Black Pullover Sweater
“Lucie” Grey Elephant Sweater

And speaking of making a statement, why not try this Season’s favorite jewelry trend. Trade out your delicate, threadbare-thin bands and go for bold, beautiful gemstone disc rings. They look like candy, and you can wear one or many all at the same time. Even if you don’t change anything in your wardrobe this year, a big, glittering piece of jewelry will draw attention and make you stand out.

Shop our favorite finds here:
“Aegean” Round Stone Ring
“Ever Tiger Eye” Disk Ring
“Compass” Silver Ring

In anticipation of Fall, invest in a durable double-breasted coat. It is the perfect transitional piece and versatile enough to be dressed up or down. Pair with your favorite evening attire for a night on the town, and throw over your favorite button down and jeans for errands during the day.

Our favorite pairings with your double breasted coat:
“Amelie” Black Suede Sheath Dress
Hudson’s “Collin Skinny” Jeans
“Jepson” Black Faux Leather Leggings

You can also wear your coat as a dress, pairing with a turtleneck and tights when the weather is chilly, or go solo with just the coat and a chic pair of nude heels for a streamline effect. However you choose to style, be sure to include this classic into your wardrobe this Season.

They hide love handles, belly bulges, and front flab. They keep shirts properly tucked in. Best of all, they don’t give you a muffin top or show a plumber’s crack. No wonder that the high-waisted style is on the rise. Take a cue from celeb Selena Gomez and go “business” glam with a chic pair of sleek black high waisted wide leg slacks combined with a matching blouse tucked at the waist for a streamlined, slimming silhouette.

On casual days, grab a pair of high waisted denim jeans and pair with your favorite comfy tank and ankle boots for a no nonsense style.

Segue into the evening hours by pairing your high waisted pants, whether jeans or slacks, with an eye catching sequined top for nighttime glam.

AC Collection’s Black Wide Leg Pant
AC Collection’s Black High Waisted Skinny Jeans

The power of the spots is immediate: They can make the laziest outfit seem intentional. Leopard print has been around for decades, from Josephine Baker and Jean Harlow in the 30’s to Eartha Kitt and Bettie Page in the ’50s, and in the ’60s, it was Mrs. Robinson in “The Graduate” and Edie Sedgwick in Andy Warhol’s Factory. Keep running through time and you’ll see Elizabeth Taylor and Catherine Deneuve in the print. These days, it’s favored by Kate Moss, Anna Wintour, and Michelle Obama. Notice a trend here? These are all strong women with strong points of view.

It’s no surprise that at a time when the world at large is questioning what it means to be a strong woman, leopard print has popped up as a runway trend at shows from Prada to Givenchy. Looking at Hillary Clinton in her thigh-grazing coats and wide-leg pants is making us think about what it means to power dress in 2016.  Just as female leopards are the hunters of their prides, so do females in leopard print tend to be of the “Girl Boss” variety.

Take a look at our favorite “leopard print” styles you can get today:
“Nico” Mid Rise Super Skinny Jeans
“Martina”Green Printed Tank Top
“Bright Young Things” Bodycon Dress

Why not let your hands do the talking in a chic “leopard print” nail fashion. Check out our favorite tutorial below on how you can achieve the look at home.

And finally, you can’t go wrong with a chic midi boot for Fall. The trick to styling? Find your sweet spot: For those with a bulkier calf, aim for a boot that ends just under the widest part of the muscle. For those with slim limbs, a heel always helps.

Still clinging to your minis? Tights will even the whole thing out in a pinch for a classy streamlined effect.

“Berlin” A Line White Knit Skirt
“Asiah” Beige Patchwork Suede Skirt
“Valda” Black Mixed Media Ultra Suede Skirt

Midi boots also pair perfectly with this Season’s midi skirt, giving just a hint of alluring leg action, in the way a flash of wrist or ankle might have caused shockwaves for a Victorian era audience.

Our favorite midi skirts:
“Kenley” Black Floral Lace Midi Skirt
“Corra” A Line Midi Skirt
“Timeless Lace” Grey Floral Midi Skirt

And don’t forget your favorite pair of comfy cropped and skinny jeans or pants. The midi boot blends perfectly with the shortened leg combined with a chunky sweater or oversized coat for perfect Fall style.

Our favorite cropped leg pants to choose from this Fall:
Joe’s Rolled Classic Cropped Jeans
Hudson’s Cropped Distressed Boyfriend Jeans
“Rylie” Black Satin Cropped Pant

Which Fall Fashion item will you include into your wardrobe collection this year? Make a point to add at least one NEW piece to usher in and celebrate the Autumn Season. Whether you choose Leopard Print, a Hobo Bag, or Midi Boots, you are sure to shine in style this Season.

And remember we here at Posh at Play want to remind you to
Be YOU, Be Fabulous, and always Be Feminine.

Whether you are attending the sartorial circus that is fashion month, are watching from a distance, or just want to look put together to welcome the new season, chances are you are in the market for some outfit inspiration. You’ve come to the right place. Take a few tips that we’ve chosen from NY fashion editors ensembles during fashion week this year and be inspired by the Fall runway looks.

(1) The Bright Bag Effect : Take The Yawn Out Of Neutrals

Whether clutch, crossbody, or satchel, it’s time to put a little color into your Fall wardrobe this Season. Instantly spruce up Fall’s neutral and darker colors with a pop of color. In a morning rush, fashion editors know that they can turn a simple outfit into an eye catching look simply by grabbing a brightly hued handbag.

From Hugo Boss to Alexander Wang to Rag & Bone, bright colors are all across the runway for Fall 2016. Jazz up a simple jeans and tee outfit with your brightly lit handbag accessory and shine in style this Season.

(2) Monochromatic Palette: One Color, Multiple Tones, Different Textures Equals A Slimming Polished Look

On the other side of the spectrum, fashion editors go with a monochromatic ensemble consisting of various shades and textures to create a slimming and polished effect. Look for items in the same color scheme for a slimming effect against the mixture of different materials from leather to lace to cotton to suede.

Spice up the romance in a “girly” pale pink monochromatic look this Fall. Mix and match Pantone’s 2016 Rose Quartz “color of the year” with a variety of patterns and textures.

Check out our favorite pink Fall wear options:
“Cameo” Pink Suede Shift Dress
“Marty” Kimono Jacket
“Emely” Pink Draped Satin Blouse

Camel, beige, and nude also gains attention this year. Mix things up by combining with a white or ivory color combo and intricate patterned accessories for an updated style.

Our favorite neutral monochromatic items for Fall:
“Lacy Sunday” Beige Textured Lace Blouse
“Cabana” Beaded Tie Dye Jersey Shirt
“Pascalla” Ultra Suede Ponte Leggings

A chic black and grey monochromatic ensemble creates a bit of drama for the Fall season with a nice mixture of textures from denim to leather to silk. Go from a grey tee by day to a silky sheer black by night.

(3)The Right Jacket Elevates Any Ensemble

Take your outfits from casual to edgy this Season. While the September weather fluctuates back and forth, fashion editors know a good coat or jacket is handy to have. When the weather is warmer, drape the coat over your shoulders for a cute “cape” look. As the breeze picks up, wear your coat normally to stay warm.

For the office, pair your coat over comfy pants and a classic pair of heels.

A basic “go to” tee and jeans outfit can go the next level by pairing with this Season’s chic blazer for a casual yet polished look. Will you go with a classic solid or try this Fall’s trending “text tees?”

Pair your jacket with our favorite classic skinny pant choices:
“Rogue Waves” Skinny Denim Jeans
“Bonded” Black Lace Skinny Pants
“Thompson” Mid Rise Skinny Jeans

Don’t forget a moto jacket to keep you polished and styled with an edgy effect for Fall. Your leather jacket can be combined with not only your casual outfits by day but also your nighttime dresses by night.

(4) The Classic Button Down – Polished But Not Too Prim

Whether tucked into classic skinny jeans, tied at the waist, or belted, fashion designers know you can’t go wrong with a traditional crisp button down top. Go with classic white or neutral or get into this Season’s style with a chic patterned print. Take a cue from fashion and celebrity icon Kim Kardashian with a half tucked in look. Why? It shows off your waist without looking too prim.

Or go with the “frat tuck” for business in the front but a party in the back. Insert your button down at the waistline, pull slightly for a loose effect, and let the tail trail behind.

(5) The Jean Roll

How to show off your favorite Fall heels and booties this Season? The”jean roll”
is your perfect solution while adding a polished look to the boyfriend jean.

Whether you take your favorite straight leg jeans and roll the cuffs yourself or grab a pair of cropped boyfriends, be sure to include this style into your wardrobe. If you are feeling extra ambitious, you can combine your favorite heels with a pair of ankle socks for a super trendy fashion designer street style.

And don’t forget, you can also wear your rolled jeans style paired with heels and a blazer for a business meeting and trade out your blazer for a sheer lacy top for a fun night out on the town. Allow your co-workers to see your relaxed side while still looking professional.

Check out our favorite rolled jean denim styles:
Hudson’s “The Leigh in City Kid” Cropped Denim Jeans
Citizen’s of Humanity’s “Dani” Capri Denim
Joe’s Jeans Rolled Cropped Jeans

(6)The Scarf Effect – Artfully Tied Can Make You Stand Out or Be A Stand In For Accessories

And finally, our favorite accessory for Fall that can add a bit of pizzaz to any outfit from casual to dressy is the colorful printed scarf. Tie your favorite scarf in a knot around your neck paired with your favorite jacket, wide leg pants, or sheath dress.

Another Fall trend we’ve been seeing street style in NYC is using your favorite printed scarf as a chic bangle bracelet. Fold the scarf in sections, wrap, and tie in a knot for an instant jewelry piece.

You can also use your scarf as a chic belt option, cinched around your favorite boyfriend jeans or tied across the waistline of a dress for dressier occasions.

Bad hair day? Have no fear. Cover up a messy do or bed head with a colorful printed scarf headband. Not just reserved for “Boho” this Season, you can rock this look in style from work to play. Simply fold scarf in sections and tie around head, securing with a few bobby pins and you are good to go

Don’t settle for less. Go ahead and elevate your Fall fashion this Season. Stealing secrets from this year’s top fashion designers, which look will you try? Whether you go for a standard button down, cropped boyfriend jeans, or colorful scarf, let your fashion do the talking. Make this Season’s trends fit YOUR style and let the real YOU shine through.

We here at Posh at Play encourage you this Season to
“Be YOU, Be Fabulous, and always Be Feminine.”

Steal from the boys this Season and go “boyfriend cool for back to school.” As the kids return to higher learning, we can also learn a thing or two about incorporating our male counterpart’s fashion into our daily fashion wardrobe. Why not style your emotionally evocative, newly borrowed togs into your own wardrobe? Throw their blazer on for a borrowed-from-the-boys effect, or snag a perfectly worn-in musky hoodie- and pair it with a dress for some date night–ready appeal. It might just keep that good mood going. Whether you have a partner or not, let our “boys club” fashion rock your world this Fall. Take a look at our favorite finds below.

When in doubt, grab your boyfriend’s jeans. Whether going to the office, running errands, or cocktails out with the girls, you can never go wrong with this style. You can borrow his or buy your own, but the great thing about this look is it flatters every figure from curvy to slim. Since the “boyfriend jean” tends to be looser, compliment the style by pairing with a fitted tank or tee.

Check out our Facebook page on how you can create your own distressed boyfriend jeans:

Or if you don’t have the time to create your own, just for you, we have a special sale going on NOW through Labor Day. Save $10 on our Collection Boyfriend jeans using coupon code BFJEANS at checkout. Simply click the link below to start shopping today!

Of course you can wear the look to the office (as long as they permit denim). Pair your look with a fitted top, chic overcoat, and chunky heels for a perfectly put together style.

Go a step further and segue into the evening hours like fashion icon Gigi Hadid by pairing your jeans with a chic pair of heels and a crop top. We like her body chain for extra appeal. Not quite so adventurous? Top with a sequined tank and you are ready to rock the night away.

However you choose to style, select one of our favorite “boyfriend jeans”:
“The Leigh” Cropped Distressed Jeans
“Mystique” Boyfriend Jeans
“Frenzy” Fun & Flirty Jeans

Late for work or a lunch meeting? Throw your bf’s blazer over a simple jeans and tee outfit for perfect polished poise. Add a pair of chic stilettos and you’re good to go. Heels not your style? Combine with ballerina flats or printed loafers for instant glam.

Actually, your blazer will also go perfectly with your “boyfriend jeans” and heels for an elegant uptown vibe. Sweep your hair into a chic topknot (no hair products required) and you are ready to hit the streets in style.

Weather still feels like summer? Throw your boyfriend blazer over a pair of cut offs and simple tee, accessorized with minimal jewelry and a clutch, you’ll look chic without trying too hard.

Even if you don’t have a “boyfriend” you can borrow from, try these chic jacket choices instead :
“East Meets West” Taupe Beaded Jacket
“Bolero” Black Stretch Ponte Jacket
“Tailored” Ivory Bolero Jacket

Nothing says “Fall” more than a cozy flannel button down. Snatch from your boyfriend’s closet– bonus points if a hint of husky musk scent remains. Feminize the plaid by pairing with your skinniest pair of denim jeans, a fitted tee, and accessorized with bangles and layered necklaces.

Weather a little toasty? Simply tie the plaid around your waist during the day. As the sun sets, you have the perfect “go to” cover up against the chilly night air.

And don’t just reserve your plaid shirt for casual affairs. Switch out your jeans for a vintage A line or pencil skirt to glam up your evening. Keep hair loose and flowing and makeup fresh and clean for a “no nonsense” style. Your bf wouldn’t want to trade you for anyone else.

What about your BF’s jogger pants? Not classy? Think again. Throw on his jogging pants, paired with a tee cinched at the waist and a classy pair of heels and you are ready to rock the streets in style.

You can also pair your jogger pants with your boyfriend blazer for a more sophisticated look for the office or lunch out with the girls.

Get ready to shake things up as you pair your joggers with a chic crop top and heels to shimmy the night away.

Get our favorite jogger pants here if you don’t snatch your BF’s:
“Rylie” Black Satin Jogger Pants
“Quilted” Grey Jogger Pants
“Kenzie” Blue Distressed Skinny Sweat Pants

And finally, what can be more obvious than borrowing your BF’s plain white Tee. Pair with fitted copped or straight leg jeans accessorized with “girly” bangles and necklaces to bring that feminine touch.

Take a tip from celeb Miranda Kerr and go for street style cool while the weather stays warm in your BF’s white tee paired with black leather shorts and matching black leather purse. Accessorize with sneakers by day and segue into the evening hours by switching to strappy heels by night.

You can also pair your plain white Tee with a chic floral pencil skirt for cocktails at twilight or even combine with a maxi for more formal occasions. However you choose to fashion your BF’s tee, this style can go to work for you this Season.

Check out our favorite items to pair with a plain white Tee:
“Corra” Black Lace Midi Skirt
“Emily” Zebra Print Maxi Skirt
“Camden” Coral Lace Trimmed Silk Wide Leg Pants

From jeans to blazers to tees, you can steal from your boyfriend’s closet this year. It doesn’t have to be all casual when paired with the right accessories and given a “feminine” touch. Even if you don’t have a “significant other,” you can take a tip from the boys this Season and pair casual with classy.

And don’t forget, our special sale going on NOW through Labor Day. You can save $10 on our Collection Boyfriend jeans using coupon code BFJEANS at checkout.

Remember, we here at Posh at Play want YOU to remember to
Be YOU, Be Fabulous, and always Be feminine.

It’s that time of year when being near the water is the best way to stay cool against summer’s heat wave. Whether lounging at the pool or chilling at the beach, soak up summer’s rays the healthy way and nourish your spirit as well. Take a look at our favorite tips to rule the beach and beyond.

Stay cool and chic in a simple yet sassy cool Cabana tunic this Summer. Easy to throw over your favorite swimsuit, the open sleeves and loose fit will keep you cool and dry against the Seasonal sun. As twilight approaches, the tunic can also double as a dress perfect for cocktail hour or evening dinner.

Our favorite Cabana Tunic options:
“Cabana Sanctuary” Fuchsia Tribal Print Tunic
“Mayan” Navy Beaded Tunic
“Sweet Sensation” Black Cotton Tunic

Cute as a shorts set and doubling as a swimsuit cover up, the romper is our second favorite “must have” Summer outfit. Look for crisp cotton fabrics and off the shoulder silhouettes to stay cool against the hot Summer sun.

With numerous sunscreen products to choose from, how do you know which ones work best? Well, it ultimately comes down to personal choice, but we here at Posh at Play always believe all natural is the way to go. Our favorite “Summer Skincare Secret” is applying a layer of extra virgin coconut oil underneath your favorite sunscreen before soaking up the sun’s rays. The fatty acids in the oil provide a UV barrier without those harsh chemicals and it is so nurturing to the skin. Afterwards, replenish with the “Save Your Skin” hydrating mist, made with all natural products and not tested on any animals.

Nothing says “Summer” like soft, all natural wavy hair. Forgo harsh hair products and heating elements this Season, in favor of letting your hair go. We like this easy DIY Sea Salt Spray from The Huffington Post to achieve the perfect beachy waves.

You’ll need:
A plastic spray bottle
1 tablespoon of sea salt
1 tablespoon of melted unrefined/organic coconut oil
1 tablespoon of hair gel or leave-in hair conditioner
1 cup of warm water

Note: You can also add a few drops of an essential oil such as lavender, mint or jasmine for a refreshing scent.

Step 1: Pour the warm water and sea salt into the spray bottle. Give it a generous shake until salt dissolves.
Step 2: Combine the melted coconut oil and hair gel (or leave-in conditioner) into a separate bowl, then add the mixture to your spray bottle.
Step 3: Add a few drops of an essential oil. Shake the bottle again, and voila! You’ve got homemade sea salt spray. Apply to towel-dried hair.

While we all know water is the best way to stay hydrated, sometimes we’d like a little “spice” to enhance the experience. Why not create a healthy drink that not only nourishes but also hydrates the body as well. Try our favorite “Carrot Lemonade” recipe, sure to satisfy in all ways possible.

1 pound carrots, peeled and cut into chucks
2 cups water
3 cups pineapple juice and/or unsweetened white grape juice
3/4 cup lemon juice
Cold water
Lemon wedges
In a medium saucepan combine carrots and water. Bring to boiling; reduce heat and cover. Simmer for 30 minutes or until very tender. Cool slightly; transfer mixture to a blender. Add 1 cup of the pineapple juice. Cover and blend until smooth.
Transfer to a pitcher or plastic beverage container. Stir in remaining pineapple juice and lemon juice. Cover and chill 2 to 24 hours. (Mixture may thicken upon standing; stir in 1 to 2 cups water to desired consistency.)
Serve over ice with lemon wedges.

Packed with vitamin A and C, this is a great summertime drink to have on hand. Make a double batch and store in the refrigerator up to 1 week.

And finally, don’t neglect your feet. They are on display this time of year, but it’s hard to keep them looking their best when the weather’s warm: Exposure to the sun and hot surfaces like sand and concrete can leave your poor dogs dry and rough. Here’s how to protect them from the elements so they stay picture-perfect for the entire season:

(1) Exfoliate At Least Once A Week
“This will help you get rid of surface dry skin cells, making them look and feel smoother,” says Kristen Murphy, Spa Manager at the Woodmark Hotel’s Still Spa. Plus, your moisturizer will be more effective when you slough off flaky skin first. We like Opi’s fresh Cucumber Scrub or go with the salt and sand foot remedy by Plum Island Soap Company.

(2) Keep a Pumice Stone in Your Shower
Celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi, founder of the JINsoon Nail Lacquer line and Jin Soon Hand & Foot Spas in New York City, grew up in a small village in South Korea where foot-care products weren’t available. “We would go to the river and find a textured stone, and we would scrub our callouses and feet with the stone,” she says. “This really worked.” Of course, you don’t have to search for your own stone since commercially available pumice stones are available. Try the all natural Volcanic Lava Pumice Stone perfect for scrubbing away dead cells.

(3) Do Some Heavy-Duty Moisturizing
Your heels are prone to over-use—and as a result, they tend to dry out more easily than the rest of your foot, says Choi. The heel is also protected by thicker skin, which means that it’s less penetrable and it’ll take a little more effort to lock moisture in. Apply a lotion or oil immediately after you shower to retain the moisture your feet have already soaked up. For even better results, reapply a moisturizer right before bed. We like the all natural Elon Herbal Foot Cream or Burt’s Bees sweet smelling Peppermint Lotion.

(4) Don’t Forget to Apply Sunscreen
Lots of people neglect to apply a good SPF to their feet, but don’t make this big mistake. Not only does the skin on your tootsies need protection, but nails are made of protein and are therefore as vulnerable as your skin. Try our natural sunscreen suggestion of extra virgin coconut oil and layer Suntegrity’s Natural Mineral Lotion for extra protection against the harsh rays.

(5) Eat Foot-Friendly Foods
Believe it or not, some foods can cause your feet to swell and become bloated. Foods high in salt are the most likely culprits. To keep your feet looking great, avoid packaged foods, which are heavily salted. Sugars can also cause foot puffiness, so you’ll want to minimize your intake of that too.

(6) Let Toes Breathe
Since nails are a living part of your anatomy, they need a break to “breathe” from time to time so they can continue healthy growth patterns and rid themselves of chemical residue, says Choi, who recommends a break from nail polish about once a month for a few days to a week. We recommend using Essie’s natural nail polish remover to cleanse the darkest of nail polishes without stripping the nail of nutrients.

This week, the fashion world exploded with the Duchess of Cambridge’s slightly “daring” off the shoulder tailored look at the Museum of Natural History’s benefit in London. Flattering on all body types by accentuating the décolletage, you too can “class” up this silhouette. Take a tip from Kate and incorporate Summer’s favorite “off shoulder” style into your fashion wardrobe this Season.

Created by designer Barbara Casasola for her Spring 2016 collection, the pinstripe cream colored dress is the perfect cross between classy yet cool. The Duchess dressed things up with dainty dangle earrings and strappy heels, but you could easily pair this look with  sandals for lunch with the girls, or your favorite comfy sneakers for the perfect “Athleisure” look.

At the workplace, keep your off the shoulder dress sophisticated by accessorizing with skinny cotton pants and classic oxfords for all day comfort and style.

On another day, create a different outfit with your skinnies by pairing with a lightweight cotton lace off the shoulder top for perfect polish.

Great for work or play, streamline your look with all neutrals. Go with a cream colored knit top paired with wide leg “culottes,” making a fashion comeback this year.

Other neutral cropped pant styles we like:
“Rylie” Taupe Jogger Pants
“Margaux” Metallic Floral Capri Pants
“Crepe” Black Satin Cropped Pants

Don’t limit your style to just black and white. Jazz things up with a pretty floral print off the shoulder blouse paired with your favorite skinny jeans, if appropriate. On other occasions, you can accessorize your top with a chic midi skirt or wide leg trousers for perfect sophistication.

Substitute your pants with a classy chic A line skirt for a fun, flirty look. Go all black in an off shoulder lace tunic and matching skirt, or switch things up in a “black and white” style with a white jacquard knit A line.

Another chic off the shoulder style that can be adapted to both work and “classy” events is Summer’s favorite romper.  Feel light and airy this Summer in a breezy white lace shorts set accessorized with nude colored sandals and handbag. Or, go with a  classic basic black style paired with minimal gold jewelry and a colorful handbag. Keep your look sophisticated by keeping hemlines longer for extra coverage, combining with classic handbags, jewelry, and shoes, and styling hair in a chic topknot, sleek pony, or loose curls carefully shaped in place.

Feeling a little daring? Go with a pretty printed cotton romper combined with solid colored accessorizes to streamline your look. From florals to Aztec to animal print, you’ll feel confident and polished in a whimsical print romper this Season.

Other printed romper options to try:
“Essie” Coral Printed Off the Shoulder Romper
“Summer” Ivory Printed Strapless Shorts Set

Extend the romper look to full length pants in a trendy printed jumpsuit, perfect for any Summer occasion.

Straight off the Spring 2016 runways, try a printed strapless jumpsuit for pure class and style. Whether on your way to the office or out and about for the day, you are sure to turn heads.

Our Favorite Printed Jumpsuit Styles:
“Cierra” Printed Jersey Jumpsuit
“Denna” Crepe de Chine Pantsuit
“On the Go” Purple Printed Jumpsuit

Feeling a bit whimsical? Forgo the solids and try a silky floral patterned cold shoulder top. Paired with skinny denim pants, a mini skirt, or trousers, you’ll be the talk of the town everywhere you go.

Our favorite patterned “cold shoulder” finds:
“Agne” Printed Cold Shoulder Tunic
“Ariana” Black Printed Blouse
“Cabana” Ivory Animal Print Tunic
“Cabana Sanctuary” Fuchsia Tunic
“Chain Reaction” White Silk Crop Waist Blouse

And finally, you must add a chic cold shoulder dress to the mix this Season. Whether for work or play, your dress will have you looking stylish without all the fuss. Tussle your hair and you are ready to rock. Choose a bold color to brighten your day, or an intricate pattern for some whimsy and fun.
