PRACTICAL COATS WITHOUT THE YAWN

2c39059e04f46cfb3c438399d0628083

In preparation for the trip, I ended up packing only one bomber leather jacket. However, I should have followed the chic coat option all of New York is wearing this Season. In the city that never sleeps, women know that an all purpose, durable coat is the way to go for Fall. Lighter than fur or wool, the camel trench coat is one of this Season’s favorite jacket options, suitable paired over your work suit and later with a chic midi dress and over the knee suede boots.

Be FURocious

d4ab52f944a748c5c61312db60769bd7

Being from L.A., I had wondered if “fur” is a taboo touchy clothing piece for Fall so ended up leaving my faux fur vest and real fur jacket at home. That’s not the case here in NYC. Cozy fur vests and coats are all the rage paired over anything from business suits to a day out in Central Park, faux of course for the protection of animals.

And Don’t Forget The Brights

You hear the myth that all New Yorkers only wear black and dark colors, so as to not stand out too much as a tourist, I opted to pack and wear neutral colors only. Boy was I wrong. New York women know how to stand in color, but with a more sophisticated approach. They pair one brightly lit statement piece and accessorize with solid colors and minimal jewelry. Try your black slacks with a bright outer piece to stand out like an “Oh So Chic” New Yorker.

ALL WHITE IS STILL OK

67b14b4c9c0a4044366d16f8bfe550a1

Throw out the “no white” after Labor Day rule, and make your own rules like the New York women do. I tend to always push my white and ivory clothes to the back of the closet for Fall and Winter, but the New York women know that rules were made to be broken. They steer clear of silk and chiffon pieces, in favor of heavier fabrics like wool. I am actually on the look out for a white leather jacket for Fall here in the Fashion District.

Seen outside Carnegie Hall, I liked how she dressed up for the night in a tailored dress and crisp heels for a busy night out on the town.

Some Of Our Favorite White Pieces
Ivory Tailored Bolero Jacket
Catrinah Lace Dress
Laszio Sequin Cocktail Dress
Silk Charmeuse Dress
Joe Ultra Suede Leggings
Bruna Embossed Faux Fur Jacket

SILKY SLIP DRESS

I’ve always been a bit leery of wearing a barely there silk slip dress during the Fall. But New Yorkers are pairing the slinky silhouette this Season with hardier fare, from tees underneath, to moto jackets, to long trenches. Combine with your favorite ankle boots for downtown shopping style and switch to strappy heels as you head to a Broadway show. Check out this flowy one I found at Bloomingdale’s in the heart of the city.

Need a little romance in your afternoon? Try a glitter knit slip dress paired with a chunky oversized cardigan for a chic and comfortable New York errand running girl. No time for a trip home? Pull slinky heels from your tote and meet friends at Hudson Clearwater hidden restaurant.

Check out the Brooklyn Museum  in a sophisticated black & white slip dress and leather jacket then dine at Saul for a NY evening to remember.

ANKLE LOVING BOOTS

casual-ankle-boots-ny-style

And speaking of ankle boots, they are my “go to” shoes roaming the streets of NYC. As I expected, the streets are covered with every single boot style imaginable, from combat, to suede, to rocker style, to patent leather. My ankle boots were perfect to pair with my leggings all day and with my jumpsuit at night for the ballet. If you only get one shoe this Fall, get the versatile ankle boot.

LONG VESTS AND SKINNIES MESH

cozy-chic-vest-and-skinnies-ny-style

What a great styling option, suitable for women from young to old. Skinnies are easy to pack and slim the leg on everyone. I brought a variety of these adaptable pants to switch out with different shirt options. How does New York style their skinnies? With an oversized chunky sweater and ankle boots or heels for a night on the town. I just had to head to Macy’s on 34th to grab me a pair of NYC’s favorite.
casual-vs-work-vest-and-skinnies-ny-style
The vest and skinny work easily for the office or a chill fall NY day. Pair your black lace skinnies with a long sleeve knit top and oversized vest for office days or shimmy into your favorite jeans and satin top and stroll Manhattan for a totally you afternoon.

LAYERED LIKE A LOCAL

office-layers-ny-style

Since I only took 1 carryon, I had to think about layers while in NYC. How do they keep so warm, especially on brisk windy Fall days? I spotted jeans paired with a plaid long sleeveinfinity scarf, and a chic wool blazer; an A line skirt with long sleeve sweater tucked in; and I myself wore leggings, tight sweater, and warm vest that kept me comfy all night long.
on-the-go-layers-ny-style

On the go? Shimmy into a pair of leggings, pullover an oversized sweater and slip into to some concrete loving kicks for a busy New York Minute.

jean-layers-ny-style
No matter how you choose to layer, the ONE item all New Yorkers never go without is a long warm scarf. From Central Park to Broadway to Greenwich, these girls know how to style a scarf. Layer a long draping sweater over a knit top and infinity scarf with your favorite jeans tucked into some serious leather combat boots for a NY City walk about.
So whether you’re in The City to see the sites, taste to food, listen to the music or everything in between. Be sure to dress like a local, but always remember to
Be YOU, Be Fashionable, and ALWAYS Be Feminine.

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU: TOP FASHION TRENDS FOR 2016

a2241baf7f9b575f76fd74bb00d26be5

As we head into a New Year, it is time to start looking at our favorite fashion styles trending on the runways for 2016. While some looks from 2015 are still with us such as Boho and vintage 70’s, designers are paving the way for new, bold fashion statements for this new Season. Take a look at our favorite fashion finds, and start your 2016 off with a brand new wardrobe.

ROSE QUARTZ AND SERENITY BLUE

For the first time ever, the experts at Pantone announced not one but two “colors of the year” for 2016. Executive director Leatrice Eiseman states, “With our hectic lives and the frenzy around us, there is an increasing demand for tranquility. Wearing both of these hues at once is like returning to the weightlessness of your youth. The combination of a cool and warm color brings a sense of balance.” We couldn’t agree more which is why we list these two colors as our top favorite trend for this year. Keep it simple by pairing your favorite light blue jeans with a rose pink robe coat from Steve Madden, accessorized with matching pumps from Calvin Klein and a patent leather handbag from Ted Baker. Or, look for blouses, skirts, and dresses with the rose and blue colors combined into one pattern. We like Hale Bob’s long sleeve blue and pink tie dye shirt dress combined with Kristin Cavallari’s flats for daytime play or pair with Nina’s “Vinnie” crystal embellished ankle strap sandals to dance the night away. However you choose to style, “keep the peace” by including the rose quartz and serenity blue color combo into your daily wardrobe this year.

ASYMMETRICAL HEMLINE

Taking a tip from model Gigi Hadid, our second favorite 2016 trend is the asymmetrical hemline. From blouses to skirts to chic hair bobs,  this Season it’s cool to leave the straight and narrow. Start with Liberty Garden’s black suede asymmetrical mini skirt paired with a crisp button down, layered ultra suede long sleeve sweatshirt, and black booties from Vince Camuto. Feel like a celebrity and get a similar look as Gigi’s pictured above in Hale Bob’s white studded maxi skirt topped with a cozy wool sweater from Free People and over-the-knee suede boots from Calvin Klein. You are sure to be the talk of the town this Season.

COLD SHOULDER

A third favorite trend that is having a revival for 2016 is the “cold shoulder” blouse. Characterized by a cut out top, this blouse style  accentuates the neck and shoulder line for a universally flattering fit on every figure and body type. We like Liberty Garden’s black and white lace trimmed tunic paired with Hale Bob’s black cotton eyelit shorts, suede booties from Cole Haan, and black floppy hat from Free People for true “Boho” style. Stay cool and collected this Spring in a printed cold shoulder blouse from Hale Bob, easily combined with your favorite skinny jeans, or keep some of “winter’s white” alive on your next evening out with Hale Bob’s white silk drop waist tunic. Forgo the basic blouse altogether and go with Hale Bob’s black chevron print drop shoulder dress, accessorized with T-strap sandals for the beach and Jimmy Choo chunky wedges for everyday glam. Beach or Boho. Daytime or Evening. You can’t go wrong with a cold shoulder outfit this Spring.

 70’s DENIM

Another “revival” we are looking forward to trying this year is a throwback to the 70’s. From flare jeans to overalls to jackets, get groovy this Season in head-to-toe 70’s style. Start with a pair of AC Collection’s medium wash flare jeans and top with Current/Elliott’s denim short sleeve shirt and tan leather clogs from Kork-Ease. Go with a different look in Hudson Jeans’ denim jean shirt dress paired with fringe knee high boots from Isola and matching fringe tote from Elizabeth and James. If you are feeling daring this year, try one of the runways favorites this Season with a one piece denim overall outfit. We like the skinny cropped style from Current/Elliott or go full vintage 70’s in a pair of wide leg denim overalls from Free People. Whether or not you lived through the 1970’s, now is the perfect time to relive the iconic era in fashion.

RUFFLES

Our last two favorite fashion finds for 2016 will bring out the “girly” side of you this Spring. After all, what’s wrong with showing a little feminine flare? From Balmain to Alexander McQueen , designers filled the runways this year with ruffles everywhere. Look for luscious ruffling on dresses and skirts like Lauren Conrad’s blush pink frock pictured above, or go with a more tailored style with ruffle trimmed blazer jackets and peplum tops. Get Lauren’s similar style with a pale pink ruffled dress from Black Halo paired with matching ruffled fringe strappy heels from BCBGMAXAZRIA and a vintage pearl white clutch from Monsoon, perfect for a garden party, lunch out with the girls, or date night on the town. Even if you prefer a more structured style, you can still get in on this Season’s ruffled look. Go with Hale Bob’s red and black peplum top accessorized with black leggings and suede booties, or spruce up your office wear style in a tailored ruffle front jacket from Calvin Klein. Frilly or fitted. Casual or dressy. No matter what your preference, be sure to get in on this Season’s feminine ruffle trim trend.

ROSE PRINT

We know. We know. Florals for Spring- groundbreaking. But this Season, designers focused on just one floral pattern in particular. From Dolce & Gabbana to Oscar de la Renta to Michael Kors, everything is coming up roses this year. We like Hale Bob’s pink floral rose print sheath dress paired with delicate nude-colored ankle strap sandals from Stuart Weitzman to off set the bold patterning. Or go with just a touch in Erin Fetherston’s “English Rose” print fit and flare dress. Not just reserved for dresses, get in on the rose print trend with Karen Millen’s black and white rose print jumpsuit, or the breezy multicolor rose print chiffon top from Goat. You can even bring the roses’ romantic touch with you to the gym in Betsey Johnson’s rose print leggings. Show your feminine side and usher in Spring and Summer’s luscious , romantic fragrance with a rose patterned outfit this Season.

lady-dior-campaign

We’ve listed our top fashion finds for 2016 so now it’s time to decide which look you will try. Will it be rose quartz and serenity blue color combo echoing the Sunset’s peaceful end of another day? Will you throwback to vintage 1970’s with flare denim and “Boho” accessories? Or will you get in touch with your romantic side this Season in a rose patterned fashion outfit? Whichever trend you choose to try this year, always remember to be you, be fabulous, and always be feminine.

HOW TO SPARKLE WITHOUT LOOKING TACKY

Glamorous-Flash-Forward-Sequin-Mini-Dress

5-4-3-2-1 HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s the Season to bring out the sparkle and shine bright like a diamond. But, how to style a stunning sequined outfit without looking like a prom queen? Don’t worry, we have you covered. No matter what your age or taste, there is no need to shy away from the holidays’ favorite clothing pattern. Take a look at our favorite ways to fashion your favorite sequined items that will have you standing out in style this New Year.

TEXTURED PATTERNS

Taking a tip from the Paris runways this year, look for sequins laid out in intricate patterns and shapes. From floral to geometric to stripes to polka dots, you are sure to find a sparkling dress to suit your style. The interesting patterns diffuse the brightness of the sequins, giving you a holiday glow without too much glitz. We like Hale Bob’s gold sleeveless sequin dress with plain black back panel paired perfectly with black tights and Topshop’s black cage sandal. Or, go with the “Bianca” two toned blue and black sequined cocktail dress from Hale Bob accessorized with Vince Camuto’s simple yet elegant black ankle strap heels and matching textured sequined clutch from Badgley Mischka. Let your party style show through in an elegant patterned sequin piece this Season.

160b61c00a5ae1df95e865bcd7f67ecf

MOVEMENT IS KEY

Fashion’s been loosening up this Season, so look for pieces that have longer hemlines and are farther away from the body to tone down  sequin’s glare. Flow prevents the shininess from looking too “clubby” and updates the look to fit 2016 fashion trends. Opt for Tracy Reece’s gold flared skirt paired with a black cashmere sweater for a cozy fit. Sweep your hair into a low chignon and accessorized with strappy pumps from Calvin Klein and a black envelope clutch from Rebecca Minkoff and you are ready to dance the night away.

d44e9ffb3a7c3c97b6e518a38a6ba6a8

Spruce up your LBD this Season with a loose fitting, swingy sequin jacket. We like Hale Bob’s black sequined cropped jacket paired with your favorite “go to” little black dress. Or, shop your favorite black dress at our online store. Whether you prefer an “A” line shape like the ponte and lace dress, lace like the black embroidered mesh long sleeve, sequins like the black long sleeve, or maxi like the solid black jersey halter, we’ve got a fit and style to suit just you. Skirt, jacket, pants, or dress. Opt for a flowy sequined look this New Years.

6becaac8e715538cce5b3c19a4857e6a

MIXED MEDIA

When styling sparkle, think opposites. Tone down shiny sequins with fluffy fur, matte wool, or nubby knit. Pair your sequined pants or skirt with a cozy black or festive red rabbit fur vest from Hale Bob. Or, go with Hale Bob’s ivory embossed faux fur jacket layered over a black studded silk tank top and this Season’s popular 70’s inspired gold sequined flare pants.

3f921f950b48f432eda8b1946d07cc11

No time to prepare for your holiday party or event? No sweat. Grab a pair of sequined skinny pants like Diesel’s sparkling silver and pair with your favorite snug holiday wool sweater or knit jacket. We like the black “mixed media” fur sleeve pullover sweatshirt from Liberty Garden or go “athlesiure” in an ivory long sleeve menswear sweatshirt paired with comfy ballerina flats or black suede tasseled loafers from Stuart Weitzman. Whichever way you choose to style your sequins, tone down your bright sparkles with “mixed media” material mixing this Season.

b7a2407d16926cd1ee30e80e4d70b5a1

ATHLEISURE

Speaking of “athleisure,” what better time to try one of this Season’s trendiest styles than in the New Year. This year, try mixing sequins with your favorite wide leg pants, comfy leggings, or denim jeans. Start with Citizen’s of Humanity’s wide leg relaxed Dylan cropped jeans or Joe’s Jeans rolled classic cropped denim and pair with a sparkling gold sequined long sleeve top from Zadig and Voltaire, accessorized with contrasting silver heels from Aquazzura and a fur clutch from Alexander Wang for perfect party style. Sparkles don’t always have to be formal. Try wearing your favorite sequined top during the week, paired with Hale Bob’s ivory suede trimmed pencil skirt and ankle booties, or layer over Liberty Garden’s grey quilted jogger pants and high top sneakers for daytime glam. Dressy or casual. Sequined items can fit into every part of your New Year’s plans and events.

58563353219dd5744c2f07781d8b2ca3

UNCONVENTIONAL BEAUTY

Toss your stilettos aside and think out of the box this Season. Accessorize your sequins with your favorite everyday items like ballerina flats, button down cardigans, cable knit sweaters, and chunky ankle booties. Stand out in style by toning down “over-the-top-glitter” with classic fashion pieces YOU like. Start with Diane von Furstenberg’s A-line sequined skirt paired with a cozy wool button up sweater from Acne Studios or Hale Bob’s unique fur trimmed sweatshirt and cable knit sweater accessorized with Tory Burch classic leather ballerina flats and timeless gold watch from Michael Kors.

9e303424af4c27c6f1260eda5b477d61

Rock another “unconventional” look and spice up your style with Hale Bob’s gold floral sequin dress paired with chunky black leather ankle boots from Rag & Bone, iconic round sunglasses from The Row, and a black leather jacket from Sam Edelman for a contemporary, edgy look that will make you stand out from among the rest this Season. When accessorizing sequins, go beyond the “tried and true” and pick items that stand out to you and reveal your inner “diva.”

2fec72023848928bfdd8e2d733fb28b7

HEAD-TO-TOE SHINE

And finally, don’t be afraid to shine in glitter from head-to-toe this Season. The key to not looking like a 70’s disco ball is to choose darker colored sequined outfits and to complement your style with color matching accessories for a sleek, streamlined look. We like Hale Bob’s black sleeveless sequined cocktail dress paired with classic Christian Louboutin black pumps accentuated with a delicate black clutch and drop earrings from Givenchy.  Go”winter white” in Hale Bob’s ivory sequined cocktail dress with high low hem matched perfectly with Badgley Mischka’s embellished ivory open toed heels . Or, step into 2015’s top color choice for Fall/Winter in a “Marsala” colored sequin dress from Dress the Population with matching ankle strap heels in lush velvet from Stuart Weitzman. Whichever color suits your fancy, you are sure to sparkle without looking too tacky in head-to-toe matching fashion pieces this Season.

CLASSIC BOUCLE COAT

Rain, snow, sleet or shine, one of our favorite “go to” jackets to fit any winter weather situation is the classic boucle coat. Popularized by the French designer Coco Chanel decades ago, the look is still on trend today. The word “Boucle” actually refers to material made from boucle yarn, looping several colors together to create an endless variety of designs and patterns. The great thing about this jacket is that it is easily adaptable for work or play, dress or casual. Try Guess’s powder pink double breasted Boucle coat paired with Hale Bob’s black stretch A line skirt and black satin blouse with lace for everyday work wear to the office. Segue into the evening hours and party the night away by combining your Boucle coat with a chic cocktail dress from Hale Bob. Choose from a wide selection to fit and flatter every figure and fashion taste found at our convenient online store Posh at Play.

Your Boucle coat can go triple duty by pairing with your favorite jeans and sweater for everyday comfort and style. Try this year’s favorite cropped jean silhouette with Citizen’s of Humanity’s Dani dark wash skinny cropped jeans or go for flare in the Dylan wide leg cropped pant. Layer your look with Liberty Garden’s ivory ultra suede sweatshirt or stay snug in the fur trimmed sweatshirt and cable knit sweater. However you choose to style, you’ll definitely want to add the versatile Boucle coat to your wardrobe collection this Winter.

COZY FUR VEST

Our second favorite chilly weather option is the fur vest. Easy to layer over a blouse or sweater by itself on warmer days or underneath a wool coat on cold winter days, be sure to add the fur vest to your closet this Season. Get a similar look as pictured above with Hale Bob’s black rabbit fur vest paired with Hudson’s Nico mid rise super skinny jeans or try the Signature skinny jeans if you prefer black. Accessorize with Dooney & Bourke’s classic oversized leather tote,  Betsey Johnson’s heart pendant, and waterproof leather booties from Aquatalia, perfect for rainy or snowy Winter weather. If you’re feeling festive this Holiday Season, go with Hale Bob’s red rabbit fur vest instead. You are sure to spread some Christmas cheer in style.

Your fur vest can also carry you from the ski slopes to the office place. Rather than lug a heavy coat with you, top your fleece lined black leggings from Zella and cozy wool sweater from Free People with your fur vest and you ready to ski the day away. Impress your Boss and turn heads at the office by combining your favorite long sleeved shift dress with Hale Bob’s fur vest, black opaque striped tights from Elie Tahari, knee high suede boots from William Rast, and a crocodile embossed tote from Badgley Mischka. The fur vest is definitely a fashionable warm winter option to have with you this Season.

THE PONCHO

With “Boho” still all the rage, it is no surprise that the poncho is one of this Season’s trendiest winter coat options. Updated for 2015, look for ponchos made with unusual materials such as lace from Free People and different patterns such as striped from Ralph Lauren. Or stay simple in Liberty Garden’s black faux suede trimmed lace poncho easily paired with your favorite jeans and boots for everyday wear or thrown over your favorite cocktail dress at your next holiday party.

410d4b512a3f6483b43c8377c1a3d89d

Get in on one of this Season’s top trends with the “poncho dress.” From Valentino to Chloe, designers are pushing the limits of how to style the classic poncho and are giving it a chic, updated look. We like Free People’s soft Toltec poncho dress or BB Dakota’s black burnout velvet dress for casual occasions. If you’ve been extra good this year, Santa might just spoil you with an elegant Valentino black flutter poncho dress, perfect for your dressier occasions. Or, you can simply grab your favorite knee length poncho and wear it solo on your next dinner date or holiday party.

496265e2bb7f8e721e3eebdea674cad7LOTS OF LAYERS

For extremely frigid climates, layering is the key to staying warm against the seasonal elements. Layering also works in warmer winter weather when the daytime is hot but nighttime brings in the chilly air. In cold temperatures, start with your favorite button down blouse like Hale Bob’s black velvet floral top paired with a gray lace pencil skirt with half slip. Layer with a gray wool sweater from Eileen Fisher, gray cable knit scarf from Phillip Lim, wool blend peacoat from Michael Kors, and knee high leather boots from designer Antonio Melani. For a different look, combine your layers over Hale Bob’s grey ultra suede leggings or AC Collection’s grey stretch skinny jeans. In warmer climates, forgo the heavy peacoat, and simply layer a blouse and sweater combo over your favorite pair of pants, accessorizing with a cozy scarf for nighttime chills. To keep from feeling like “Frosty the Snowman,” make sure you start with thinner fabrics underneath, and end with your heaviest fabric on top.

LOOKING GOOD IN GALOSHES

Lastly, one of our favorite winter weather items that you can incorporate into your fashion wardrobe this holiday Season is the waterproof rain boot. From Tory Burch’s “equestrian” style to Hunter’s wedge to Santana Canada’s fur trimmed, tried and true galoshes get a facelift this Season with updated looks and unique styles. The girls will never know you are wearing waterproof rain shoes when you pair your Tory Burch boots with a red plaid shirt from Current/Elliot, black A line skirt from Hale Bob, and holiday red flare overcoat from Via Spiga on your next coffee date.

c0666f4a94446fe8c483e093fb66ef86

For another wintery weather look, stay dry yet stylish in cute knee high plaid rain shoes from Burberry or go mid-size as featured above in “Cara” plaid lace up boots from Chooka. Pair with Hale Bob’s  black ultra suede leggings ,neutral fur trimmed cable knit sweaterand add your favorite plaid button down for extra warmth on chillier days. Don’t be afraid to incorporate galoshes into your wardrobe this Season. With this year’s updated looks, you’ll stay dry yet sleek in the newest rain boot styles.

KEEPING IT CLASSY

If you’re the kind of girl who prefers demure hemlines and classic style, you can never go wrong in a knee length A line skirt, brightened up with a holiday red silk blouse and jacket. We like Vince Camuto’s A Line pleated black skirt, and the red silk blouse with necktie from Hale Bob , accessorized with a black fur coat and matching black “flex” heels from Michael Kors to keep you comfortable all night long. Jazz things up a bit in Hale Bob’s black lace pencil skirt  paired with your red silk blouse and cropped black bolero jacket, finishing with delicate diamond drop earrings from Lafonn for a touch of holiday sparkle. Keeping it classy and simple is always in style when you can carry the look off with confidence and poise.

PLAYING WITH THE BOYS

Channel your inner “Marlene Dietrich” with a one piece jumpsuit for sleek yet feminine style. Your outfit will show that you can keep up with the men without forgoing your womanly side as well. We like Hale Bob’s sleeveless black lace jumpsuit, or go for a bit of “Hollywood” holiday glam in a sleeveless black one piece with sequin front. Adhereing to your “menswear” style, sweep your hair into a sleek low bun and accessorize with an oversized blazer from Paige Denim, patent pointy toe Oxfords from Paul Green, and an industrialized box clutch from Whiting & Davis. If you prefer a more feminine look, go with Hale Bob’s ivory faux fur coat, matching ivory Brocade kitten heels from Simple Soles, and tiny pearl earrings from Mikimoto. Whichever way you choose to style your one piece pantsuit, be sure to include this look in your office party planning this Season.

VINTAGE CHIC

Nothing attracts looks more than a hint of a simple more refined classic time period in fashion. As Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” plays in the background, transform your style to a differernt era with a throwback to 1950’s glamour. The easiest way to achieve this vintage look is with an “A line” fitted dress, a trending silhouette at the time. With a fitted waist and a flare skirt, this shape works best to accentuate a tiny middle and toned legs, while hiding wider hips and thighs. Get the look with Hale Bob’s black stretch Ponte and lace A line dress paired with black tights and matching black heels for a streamlined style. Or “let it go” a la Elsa from Frozen in Hale Bob’s bright icicle blue A line dress and matching embellished blue heels from Menbur Sanco. From brights to neutrals to patterns, select your favorite vintage find from Hale Bob at our wide selection online, one to suit every taste and style.

NAUGHTY BUT NICE

There’s no shame in flaunting your fit physic at the annual holiday party. However, you do want to keep it posh yet professional in the office setting. Select your favorite holiday red mini dress and pair with black tights and matching black heels, revealing a little leg but not too much. Get a similar look as pictured above with Hale Bob’s long sleeve lace dress paired with matte opaque tights from Wolford and black suede heels from Dolce Vita.  For a different silhouette, we also like Hale Bob’s short sleeve soft jersey wrap dress paired with trendy Elie Tahari black tights with side stripe and black suede booties from Saint Laurent. A little flirt is fine as long as it’s done with good taste and style.

SAY YES TO SEQUINS

Don’t be afraid to glitter and glisten at the holiday party in a shimmering sequined dress. The key to not appearing too “overdone” is to pair your look with neutral accessories and natural hair and makeup. Reserve your flamboyant side for the upcoming New Year’s Eve festivities.  Get the above featured style with Hale Bob’s gold sleeveless sequined dress topped with Rebecca Minkoff’s long black silk blazer or again, go with Hale Bob’s cropped bolero jacket. You could also try one of this Season’s “winter white” trends in the ivory sequined cocktail dress from Hale Bob combined with an ivory Ponte stretch jacket and delicate ivory satin heels from Kate Spade. Let your hair fall loose and wavy in a slightly “tousled” manner aided by Bumble and Bumble’s surf infusion spritz spray and you are ready to rock this year’s office party in style.

PARTY ANIMAL

If you just can’t contain your excitement and are always the “life of the party,” there is a way to tame the animal within and still have a good time. The office party setting is not always the best place to “let loose,” however  there’s no need to feel uncomfortable with who you are. We suggest our favorite animal printed wrap dress from Hale Bob paired perfectly with Lafayette’s sleek tech jacket, black tights, and black leather Mary Jane’s from Shoes of Prey. You could even go a bit edgier with Vince’s  black paneled leather jacket and knee high boots from Steve Madden if you dare. Another chic way to reveal your inner “tiger” is to accessorize a favorite LBD with animal print items such as Michael Kors’ “cheetah” kitten heels or Cleobella’s leopard fringe clutch. Don’t be afraid to express yourself this holiday Season. Just be sure to do it with moderation and an “Oh So Chic” style.

300ece257debaae99b304462281fce9e

Classic or edgy. Vintage or trendy. There’s a holiday office party style that’s waiting for you this Season. Instead of wishing the event was already over, look forward to being able to express your individuality and personal style with the people you work with everyday. Let down your guard a little and let your true self shine through. Sincerity is always refreshing and your Boss is sure to take note. Your co-workers will see you in a whole different light and by being able to express yourself, you might actually enjoy going to work this year. Be you, be yourself, but always be feminine.

FASHION LIKES THE NUTCRACKER

lauren-lovette-nutcracker01

The lights. The costumes. The music. The magic. The Season would not be the same without Sugarplums dancing in our heads to the ever popular Nutcracker tunes. This week, we focus on the iconic Nutcracker ballet seen continuously on stage every year throughout the world since 1892. Though not all of us can be as graceful as a ballerina, this week we focus on fashion inspired by this beautiful holiday classic. Whether you go see “The Nutcracker” ballet at the theater or only dance to the music in your head, you’ll feel a part of this holiday tradition with our top picks based on the iconic characters from the story.

Fight off the winter chill and emulate the ballet’s hero in a chic military-style jacket, snug leggings, and knee high boots. From DSquared2 to Rag and Bone, military jackets are one of this Season’s trendiest coats of choice. We like Hale Bob’s taupe beaded stretch Ponte jacket paired with grey ultra suede leggings and suede knee high boots from Sole Society. Switch up your look by changing the color of your pants each day from red suede, to winter ivory, to chocolate brown. If you prefer dresses over pants, you’ll look smashing in Hale Bob’s black long sleeve silk jersey wrap dress accessorized with chic slouchy ankle booties from Vince Camuto or classic shiny black knee highs from Franco Sarto. You are sure to win this holiday Season in a outfit inspired by the iconic star of “The Nutcracker” ballet.

Top with a warm grey cashmere sweater from Tibi, perfect for the chilly theater or a cold winter night. Or keep to the Season’s warmer colors in Hale Bob’s purple rushed floral wrap dress accessorized with black suede booties from Tory Burch and an embellished floral stone cascade necklace from BCBGMAXAZRIA. Whether you favor Clara’s pink dress, or The Prince’s military jacket, or Spanish’s fiery red, or the Flower’s floral pattern, you can bring a touch of “The Nutcracker” to your winter wardrobe this Season. If you get a chance, attend your local ballet school’s annual production this year and donate to the live arts. You don’t have to be a dancer to be a part of the loveliness of the art form. WINTER FLORALS

Not just for Spring anymore, Winter is the perfect time to let the flowers come out and play. DENIM AND LACE

Lastly, as featured in Harper’s Bazaar magazine’s top party picks, we couldn’t agree more with unexpected dynamic lace paired with denim. Suitable and chic for any holiday gathering, what better way to spruce up durable denim this Season than with an elegant, vintage Victorian lace blouse. We like this updated look with pencil skirt and lace up booties, perfect for the office party, dinner with the parents, or the annual holiday get together. Our top picks include Hale Bob’s supple satin and sultry black lace blouse or go with black stretch floral lace tunic paired with AC Collection’s faded denim pencil skirt and Alexandre Birman black lace up booties. Change up your style at another holiday occasion with a trendy midi length denim skirt from Frame Denim or go with relaxed cropped denim pants from Citizen’s of Humanity. And you could always switch things up by topping Hale Bob’s ivory or grey lace midi skirt with a tie back denim top from Nicholas. SWEATER DRESS

Another “no brainer” classic look to return this Winter is the sweater dress. On your busiest days, simply throw on your favorite sweater dress style, pair with an oversized bag and your favorite boots, and you are ready for any occasion morning, noon, and night. We love Current/Elliot’s soft gray wool and cashmere blend dress accessorized with booties from Jeffrey Campbell,  chunky gold bangles from Kendra Scottand a black leather bag from Kate Spade. Sweep your hair into a chic topknot and segue into the evening hours by combining your sweater dress with Vince Camuto’s “Sugar Plum” suede pumps and a sparkling gold clutch from Loeffler Randall.

510285cdf24380672332c1eb01ada747

Make your sweater dress go “double duty” and combine with your favorite leather leggings or skinny jeans for a completely different look. This is also a great style for chillier Winter days when the weather is at it’s snowiest. Try pairing with Hale Bob’s black quilted faux leather or go with the mixed media leggings. Spread a bit of cheer at your next holiday party by combining with Hale Bob’s red ultra suede leggings or go “Winter Wonderland” in the soft ivory suede. If leggings aren’t your style, go with your favorite pair of skinny pants like Hudson’s black super skinny jeans or go matching with Citizen’s of Humanity’s grey stretch skinnies. At your next holiday event, arrive in the colors of the Season’s by pairing your sweater dress with Hudson’s deep red skinny jeans or go bright in Hale Bob’s green cotton sateen pants. However you choose to style, the sweater dress is definitely a versatile choice to add to your wardrobe collection this Winter.

STRIPED SWEATER AND MIDI SKIRT

From Valentino to Miu Miu to Isabel Marant, stripes are definitely one of this Season’s trendiest patterns. Echoing the iconic candy cane, what better time to try a striped sweater than during the holidays. Update the look for Winter 2015 by pairing with your favorite midi length skirt, one of this Season’s trendiest skirt lengths. We like Madewell’s cable knit striped sweater or go with Philosophy’s cozy cashmere striped sweater with star detailing, perfect on your next party or event. Who says you have to stick to black and white only? Get colorful this Season in Rag and Bone’s orange and red toned sweater or change things up and go with Tory Burch’s asymmetrical striped fitted sweater. For a perfectly polished office look, pair your striped sweater with Hale Bob’s lace midi length pencil skirt in basic black or soft grey.

SWEATER AND OVERALLS

With the revival of 90’s fashion this Season, the return of the overalls is inevitable. What better way to try out one of this year’s trending pant styles than to pair with your favorite cozy turtleneck or chunky knit sweater. For an updated style, look for overalls in different colors and patterns such as navy, rust, or striped, and unique material such as leather, cotton, or knit. For dressier occasions, we like Topshop’s cropped faux leather overalls paired with Hale Bob’s ivory sweater knit lace top or the black faux leather long sleeve shirt and Michael Kors’ jeweled ankle strap pumps. LOTS OF LAYERS

It’s easy to stay warm yet fashionable with this Season’s trending poncho and sweater “robe” coat options. Stay warm with ponchos made from wool and cashmere and stay fashionable with plaid, striped, and jewel toned color patterns. Choose a perfect Winter outfit with Luisa Brini’s navy plaid poncho paired with Hale Bob’s rust colored turtleneck top layered over Hudson’s Nico super skinny navy jeans tucked into knee high leather boots from Tory Burch. Opt for the striped look with MIH Jeans’ oversized reversible wool blend poncho, and segue into the evening hours by topping your favorite cocktail dress with Halston Heritage’s elegant black mock-neck ribbed poncho. Casual or dressy, be sure to add the poncho into your Winter wardrobe this year.

The sweater robe coat is another favorite trending sweater find this year. Warmer than a sweater yet lighter than a coat, this jacket is a perfect layering option and also great to wear on warmer Winter days. We love Hale Bob’s teal wool sweater coat or go with the longer “robe” style in the Birdseye knit sweater coat in teal, purple, and beige from Hale Bob. Paired with your skinny jeans for daytime activities, and thrown over your favorite cocktail dress for evening, the sweater robe coat is your perfect styling option this Season.

SWEATER SCARF

One of the simplest ways to stay warm yet fashionable throughout the Winter season is to make your favorite sweater double as a chic scarf by day and warm outerwear by night. Take your favorite sweater such as Hale Bob’s fur trimmed sweatshirt and cable knit sweater or the terry knit pullover with cable knit sleeves and tie around your shoulders for perfect Winter style. As the sun sets, pull over your evening outfit to stay warm against the night air. No matter which sweater style you choose, try this simple yet chic “sweater scarf” style this Season.

WHITE SKINNY JEANS

One of our favorite versatile looks for Fall Fashion is the skinny white jean. Though wide leg and boyfriend jeans are having a moment on the fashion scene, you can’t go wrong with this always trendy denim style. Update your look for 2015 by choosing a white skinny in a cropped fit. We like Joe’s Jeans high water cropped jeans in white leopard print for perfect texture and style. Pair with Liberty Garden’s short sleeve gray knit sweatshirt and layer with your favorite denim blouse. Complete your outfit with MTNG Orginials’ suede ankle boots and a trendy cross body bag from Ivanka Trump and you are ready to head into the Fall Season in style. No need to throw your white skinnies to the back of the closet. With a little creative pairing, your white jeans can rock the cooler months too.
