Just as spring is a time for rebirth, autumn is also considered a transitional season. The weather turns brisk, the leaves on the trees change from dull brown to a firestorm of color,  and darkness settles in a little earlier. For many, it is a favorite time of year, but for others, it can be a trigger to falling off the health and fitness wagon. After all, how can you be expected to ignore pumpkin spice lattes? The key is to set goals BEFORE the new year, not over a drink as the clock strikes midnight.
“Fall … is a great time to start a (health and) fitness program because you’re going to create good habits for the holiday season and the upcoming winter months,” says Justin Price, owner of Biomechanics a personal training and wellness facility in San Diego.
Not only is Fall a good time to plan a strategic exercise regime, but also to change your summer skin care, eating habits, and stress management. Take a look at our four most important “wellness” points you can focus on this Season to help keep you energized, healthy, and happy.

It’s so hard to resist those spicy pumpkin lattes or warm delicious hot cocoas. Well, you can still enjoy your favorite cold weather beverage. Our helpful tips when you are out:
(1) Use milk (3% milk fat) rather than the heftier half-and-half (18% milk fat)
(2) Opt for the “skinny” version, made with skim milk rather than whole
(3) Forgo the calorie rich whipped cream
(4) Order a small, rather than large

Or, make your own at home with our favorite low-cal pumpkin spice latte recipe:
You need:
1½ cups unsweetened cashew milk or other non-dairy milk
1 tablespoon maple syrup
3 teaspoons regular vanilla
¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
2 tablespoons pureed pumpkin
1 pack Starbucks VIA instant coffee (or favorite brand)

(1) Place cashew milk, maple syrup, vanilla, pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin a small saucepan and bring to a simmer
(2) Stir in instant coffee
(3) Transfer to a mug and sprinkle cinnamon on top. Enjoy!

While we all look forward to Halloween’s scrumptious candies and the holidays’ luscious turkey, ham, and pumpkin pie, there is a way you can still indulge yet stay trim throughout the entire Season. The key is to not deprive yourself so much that you overcompensate later. We like model Gigi Hadid’s motto: “Eat clean to stay fit, eat a burger to stay sane.”
On your regular days, start with a small healthy breakfast like whole grain oatmeal, fruit, eggs, or cereal to kick start your metabolism. Curb your mid-day slump with a healthy salad of greens and protein. Finish the day off with a light dinner of chicken or fish, and vegetables. Maintain this daily routine on normal days.

When you are out on the town, no need to sacrifice your regime. You can still order your favorites, just order dressings on the side, limit heavy breads, opt for lean meats or salads, and stay hydrated with water. Spending a little extra time on what you eat throughout your normal routine, means you can indulge a little on the special days without “falling off the bandwagon.”

As the warmth of summer’s sun fades and we go into the “hibernation” Season, sometimes our skin takes a backseat to the busy-ness of Fall’s activities. With the crisp cool air, skin can easily lose moisture so it is vital to change your daily skin care regime. Take a look at some of our favorite tips from top designers and dermatologists.

The simplest way to look energetic throughout this busy time of year is to keep your peeps bright and alert. While a comforting facial is always beneficial, we don’t always have the time in our busy schedules. The easiest way to stay fresh is with a quick at-home eye treatment right before you go to bed, or just when you wake up. In addition to reducing salt, hydrating with water, and preventing allergens, these are our favorite “quick tips:”

(1)  CUCUMBERS (containing antioxidants and flavonoids): Place a cool slice on each eye and take a rest for 30 minutes. Afterward you’ll feel nice and refreshed.
(2) RAW POTATO SLICES: They stay cool longer and contain an astringent that helps remove the water from under the eyes. Lay over the eyes and reap the benefits.
(3) WITCH HAZEL: Chill witch hazel (a well-known astringent to reduce swelling and redness) and apply a bit to cotton pad; let sit on closed eyes for 5 minutes.
(4) COLD WATER: Refresh your face with a cool water wash first thing in the morning. If your eyes feel extra puffy, dip a washcloth in cold water, squeeze out excess and lay over eyes.

With the fluctuating weather, it is extra important to slough off dead cells and keep skin hydrated against the Season’s uneven temperatures. Make sure you lather up with an additional amount of non-comedogenic hydration. Instead of relying on chemical ridden products, why not make your own easy nourishing face and body scrub at home to use throughout the Fall months ahead:
In a small bowl mix: One tablespoon of brown sugar
A generous squeeze of honey
A teaspoon of olive oil
Mix until one paste. After removing any makeup, massage this concoction all over your face for a minute or so and then rinse with warm water. (Make a larger quantity for full body exfoliation).

With the new Season comes new beauty trends. Even though the leaves turn darker and the nights come sooner, that doesn’t mean that make-up must follow. This year, counterbalance warmer colors with a fresh-faced, simple make-up care routine you’ll sure to appreciate, especially on those busy days.

Fresh Face Look

And when you DO feel like dressing up a bit, just swipe on this Season’s most glamorous lip colors in power reds, 90’s browns, or liquid berry.

During the hectic Season, take a little time to calm, cleanse, and rejuvenate. Our favorite way is through aromatherapy, the most natural way to release stress. The methods of use are what makes aromatherapy one of the most beautiful and indulgent of all the complementary therapies. From vaporizing, to massage, to bathing, to foot baths, there are so many ways to enjoy the captivating aromas of our pure essential oils.

Our favorite way to relax is vaporisation, the most popular and versatile method of use in Aromatherapy. Once the particles are inhaled, the essential oil vapors may alter moods and balance emotions within seconds.

How to:
Fill your vaporiser with water to the level indicated. Add 6-9 drops in total of pure essential oils to the water and light the candle at the base of a Ceramic Vaporiser or switch on your Electric or Ultra Sonic Vaporiser.

Don’t stop with just your home. You can stay calm throughout the day in your car with lemon infused oils to reduce anxiety and stress or revive during the mid-afternoon  slump with coffee or cinnamon reviving scents.

And finally, end the day in peace with a indulgent warm bath. Bathing is the most beautiful and nurturing method of use in the practice of Aromatherapy. All the senses are engaged in this practice and the mind and body are totally relaxed as the pure essential oils enter the body.

How to:
Add 3 drops in total of chosen oils like Rose or Lavender to one teaspoon of Sweet Almond Massage Base Oil and disperse into bath water. Agitate the surface of the bath and then immerse body and relax for 10 minutes.

The year would not be complete without the celebrations that fill the Season, creating pockets of joy to last a lifetime. No need for extravagance; let nature take over and provide the perfect backdrop for your Fall party. Whether you are planning a Halloween masquerade, gearing up for Thanksgiving, or hosting a casual get-together, go simple this Season.

Fill a glass urn with pine cones and colorful leaves from the back yard or make a centerpiece with pumpkins from your local pumpkin patch. Enhance your house with cinnamon essential oils for a calm environment, and add a couple of plaid throw blankets over chairs. If the weather permits, end your party with an old fashioned marshmallow roasting and snuggle into your warm blankets for an entertaining evening of fun, food, and fellowship.

Added bonus, hosting your own gathering means you get to pull out your favorite party wear, and stay cozy and warm without having to step foot out of the door. Make it easy on yourself by having guests bring their favorite Fall goodies, and stir together a simple apple cider that young and old alike can enjoy.

In this hectic time year, you can find ways to detox and decompress throughout your daily activities. Whether you opt for a “skinny” latte, relax with a natural scrub, overhaul your makeup routine, or calm with essential oils, enter the Season refreshed and revived rather than tired and stressed. Look for ways to get out and enjoy the fresh crisp air and the colorful changes in nature, inspiring you to try a few new things this Fall. Remember no matter what we here at Posh at Play always encourage you to

This week one of our fashion bloggers is set loose on the streets of New York City to discover and report the latest trends in Fall fashion street wear. What is the common girl on the street wearing to business, lunch, and evening? And how do New Yorkers incorporate fashion into their busy, non stop lifestyles? Let’s discover what’s trending and find out ways you can implement into your Seasonal wardrobe and your lifestyle needs this year.

In preparation for the trip, I ended up packing only one bomber leather jacket. However, I should have followed the chic coat option all of New York is wearing this Season. In the city that never sleeps, women know that an all purpose, durable coat is the way to go for Fall. Lighter than fur or wool, the camel trench coat is one of this Season’s favorite jacket options, suitable paired over your work suit and later with a chic midi dress and over the knee suede boots.

Be FURocious

Being from L.A., I had wondered if “fur” is a taboo touchy clothing piece for Fall so ended up leaving my faux fur vest and real fur jacket at home. That’s not the case here in NYC. Cozy fur vests and coats are all the rage paired over anything from business suits to a day out in Central Park, faux of course for the protection of animals.

And Don’t Forget The Brights

You hear the myth that all New Yorkers only wear black and dark colors, so as to not stand out too much as a tourist, I opted to pack and wear neutral colors only. Boy was I wrong. New York women know how to stand in color, but with a more sophisticated approach. They pair one brightly lit statement piece and accessorize with solid colors and minimal jewelry. Try your black slacks with a bright outer piece to stand out like an “Oh So Chic” New Yorker.

Throw out the “no white” after Labor Day rule, and make your own rules like the New York women do. I tend to always push my white and ivory clothes to the back of the closet for Fall and Winter, but the New York women know that rules were made to be broken. They steer clear of silk and chiffon pieces, in favor of heavier fabrics like wool. I am actually on the look out for a white leather jacket for Fall here in the Fashion District.

Seen outside Carnegie Hall, I liked how she dressed up for the night in a tailored dress and crisp heels for a busy night out on the town.

Some Of Our Favorite White Pieces
Ivory Tailored Bolero Jacket
Catrinah Lace Dress
Laszio Sequin Cocktail Dress
Silk Charmeuse Dress
Joe Ultra Suede Leggings
Bruna Embossed Faux Fur Jacket

I’ve always been a bit leery of wearing a barely there silk slip dress during the Fall. But New Yorkers are pairing the slinky silhouette this Season with hardier fare, from tees underneath, to moto jackets, to long trenches. Combine with your favorite ankle boots for downtown shopping style and switch to strappy heels as you head to a Broadway show. Check out this flowy one I found at Bloomingdale’s in the heart of the city.
Need a little romance in your afternoon? Try a glitter knit slip dress paired with a chunky oversized cardigan for a chic and comfortable New York errand running girl. No time for a trip home? Pull slinky heels from your tote and meet friends at Hudson Clearwater hidden restaurant.
Check out the Brooklyn Museum  in a sophisticated black & white slip dress and leather jacket then dine at Saul for a NY evening to remember.

And speaking of ankle boots, they are my “go to” shoes roaming the streets of NYC. As I expected, the streets are covered with every single boot style imaginable, from combat, to suede, to rocker style, to patent leather. My ankle boots were perfect to pair with my leggings all day and with my jumpsuit at night for the ballet. If you only get one shoe this Fall, get the versatile ankle boot.

What a great styling option, suitable for women from young to old. Skinnies are easy to pack and slim the leg on everyone. I brought a variety of these adaptable pants to switch out with different shirt options. How does New York style their skinnies? With an oversized chunky sweater and ankle boots or heels for a night on the town. I just had to head to Macy’s on 34th to grab me a pair of NYC’s favorite.
The vest and skinny work easily for the office or a chill fall NY day. Pair your black lace skinnies with a long sleeve knit top and oversized vest for office days or shimmy into your favorite jeans and satin top and stroll Manhattan for a totally you afternoon.

Since I only took 1 carryon, I had to think about layers while in NYC. How do they keep so warm, especially on brisk windy Fall days? I spotted jeans paired with a plaid long sleeveinfinity scarf, and a chic wool blazer; an A line skirt with long sleeve sweater tucked in; and I myself wore leggings, tight sweater, and warm vest that kept me comfy all night long.

On the go? Shimmy into a pair of leggings, pullover an oversized sweater and slip into to some concrete loving kicks for a busy New York Minute.

No matter how you choose to layer, the ONE item all New Yorkers never go without is a long warm scarf. From Central Park to Broadway to Greenwich, these girls know how to style a scarf. Layer a long draping sweater over a knit top and infinity scarf with your favorite jeans tucked into some serious leather combat boots for a NY City walk about.
So whether you’re in The City to see the sites, taste to food, listen to the music or everything in between. Be sure to dress like a local, but always remember to
Be YOU, Be Fashionable, and ALWAYS Be Feminine.

We’d all like to make our lives a little easier and functional, spending less yet gaining a little more. Whether you’re an “on the go” girl who’s looking for transitional clothing to go from morning to evening, a traveler who needs to pack light, or you are just looking to simplify your wardrobe, take a look at our “Functional Fashion” picks that are a must have for this season.

We all have busy lives to lead and who wants to think about packing a bunch of clothes for the entire day? Why not grab a great versatile piece that can carry you from morning to evening? Go with a chic black jumpsuit, demure enough for the office, yet spiced up in the evening with a quick change of shoes and a cozy feather or sequined jacket.

Make like Kendall Jenner and have your jumpsuit work with you in your favorite comfy boat shoes or sneakers to keep you moving all day long. Your streamlined outfit might not come fashioned with enough pockets to hold all your necessities throughout all your activities.

Let your comfy shoes take you places this Season. While we love a good heel now and again, there’s no problem with taking a “lower” road this year. When you are on the go, the last thing you want is for your feet to give out mid-day. We are loving the “ballerina” flat for Fall. Comfy and chic, this shoe can pair easily with your favorite skinnies, leggings, or midi skirts throughout the Season.

AND bonus points: we love these “foldable” flats that can slip easily into your purse for a quick change throughout the day. Slip off your work heels and pull out your flats when you need to dash around town for a few errands or activities with the kids feeling fab and fashionable this Season.

And you MUST include the ankle boot into your Autumn wardrobe. Warm, comfy, and stylish, the ankle boot is perfect to pair with everything from your favorite cropped jeans, to leggings, to even a maxi dress or skirt.

OMG! Ugg boots are still in style for Fall? Of course they are. These are the perfect comfy functional shoe to fit into your daily routine. Able to pair with anything, these boots will keep you warm and stylish all Season long.

Celebs from Sarah Jessica Parker, to Ashley Greene, to Kendall Jenner have been spotted sporting the trend. So what’s keeping you from pulling out your comfy Uggs? OR go ahead and buy some new ones for the current Season.

Jai Collection

Clothing is having an era of re-birth with the reversible fashion trend. The simplest way to switch your outfit in an instant is with “reversible clothing,”an item that can be turned inside out to completely change the look, feel, and color. We are crushing on Jia Collection’s branding style. Now you can have several different styling options with just one simple garment.

Jai Collection

With their wide variety of dresses, knits, and jackets, you can go from morning at work to lunch with the girls to date night in the evening wearing a completely different look, but the same item all day long.

We also like Helene Clarkson’s clean yet flattering line suitable to take you all over the world with just a few key pieces tucked into your carry-on. From business to pleasure, you’ll only have to pack a few items with her reversible skirts, blouses, and jackets.

Don’t just stop at your daytime wardrobe. Why not try reversible active wear for your daily workout routine. No need to spend a fortune on sports attire- make your fitness fashion go double duty by investing in reversible sports bras, leggings, or jackets.

A comfy pair of leggings can work for you day or night, paired with a blazer for work, a Tee for daytime, your reversible crop for workouts, and a sequined top for nighttime activities.

Check out our favorite legging options here:
“Pascalla” Black Ultra Suede Leggings
“Jepson” Ponte Stretch Leggings
“Taylor” Blue Print Jersey Leggings

While you are on the go, consider clever travel pieces which include built in pockets that allow you to stay moving without the need of a purse or extra baggage. Check out the Clever Travel Companion fashion line suitable for workouts, travel, and active days. Not only are money belts, fanny packs, and vests the opposite of fashionable, but they can also make you more of a target for scams and crime, especially when traveling.

You can also make one item work for you without it being “reversible.” Why not try the convertible clothing option using one item in a variety of different ways. We are loving Elizabeth and James’s convertible trench and the multitude of different ways you can fashion one item of clothing. Traveling has never been easier and your closet will thank you. Wear as trench for cooler days, take off the sleeves for a cute shirt dress effect, then take away the bottom for a chic cropped jacket.

It’s an expression of the need to disconnect from the pre-scheduled daily routines. Inspired by the ones who come alive when the shift ends, living life on an inverted schedule, as kings and queens of the moment, the onesie is a huge trend this Season. From celebs like Beyonce to Kylie Jenner, everyone is getting on board the newest fully functional wardrobe necessity.

Check out the site “Onepiece” who’s setting the mark on this Season’s latest trend. Whether you have a long flight ahead of you, pair with a jacket for errands around town, or snuggle up for a cozy night in, the onesie is a fashion statement that can travel with you wherever you go.

On the go all day, flying through the airport, or just don’t have time to make it home, functional fashion can be your friend this Season. If you choose to slip a sweater over that maxi, switch out your handbag for a wristlet, pair your summer shorts with a cozy pair of tight, or take on the “onesie,” there are limitless ways to stay stylish while cozy this Season.

No matter how you decide to stay “functional,” remember:
Be YOU, Be Fashionable, and ALWAYS Be Feminine.

From tops to dresses to skirts to accessories, we’ll show you our top picks that are just right for you. Peruse our choices below and start incorporating the trend into your wardrobe today.

One of the jungle’s fiercest felines roars onto the fashion scene this Season. Take a cue from Saint Laurent’s 2016 runway show and show off some of your boldness in a chic tiger print jacket paired over a silver sequin dress. For daytime glam, offset the busy pattern with a pair of solid black slacks and a silky white tank while you are on your way to conquer your “jungle” this year.

We like Kate Bosworth’s take on the print trend in a comfy “tiger” tee and shorts. Easily segue into the cooler Season ahead by pairing with your favorite boyfriend jeans by day and suede trimmed maxi skirt by night. Or, take things up a notch with a cool clean tiger print sheath dress, carrying you all the way from work in the morning to cocktails in the evening.

Like a more subtle approach? How about accessorizing with a tiger print handbag, scarf, or jewelry? Perfect for the woman who wants to keep up with the trends in a more conservative style.

And finally, if all that is a little much, why not go for “tiger” print nail art at your next trip to the salon? You can also do it yourself at home with our handy “how to” video here:

DIY Tiger Print Nails

However you choose, be bold and loud this Season in tiger print.

For those of you willing to walk on the wild side, Africa’s inspired zebra print is the pattern for you. Delight in style with a feminine flowing silk dress. We like the updated look shown above paired over a pair of cropped jogger pants, casual yet glamorous accessorized with strappy heels.

Or, you might prefer as silky maxi skirt paired perfectly with a simple button down or fitted tank on warmer days.

Our favorite color zebra striped fashion:
“Emily” Pink Zebra Striped Maxi Skirt

“Carly” Straight Leg Jeans
“AC Collection” Flare Leg Jeans

Don’t just limit the trend to blouses only. Step out in style like celeb Kim Kardashian in a chic full body leopard dress. We like her simple yet classy approach. With unfussy hair, minimal jewelry, and nude colored heels, she lets the dress do the talking and you can do the same.

Check out our favorite leopard print dress styles here:
“Cale” Jersey Wrap Dress
“Bright Young Things” Bodycon Dress
“Vintage” One Shoulder Peplum Dress
Zada” Fuchsia Wrap Dress

Or go the subtle approach and bring out the print to accentuate your everyday style. Add a little “sass” with cute comfy ballerina flats perfectly paired with your favorite jeans or pants and crisp button down. Hold all your necessities in a chic envelope clutch, or dress up a simple jeans and tee combo with a flowing silk scarf.

However you choose to wear it, leopard is your look this Fall.

And finally, has all this fashion talk made you hungry? Well grab yourself a cup of coffee and make a cute yet tasty “leopard” milk bread loaf. Here’s how to do it:

(1) Make one batch each of your favorite vanilla and chocolate dough.
(2) Refrigerate the cocoa dough, roll it into cylinders, and wrap it in vanilla dough
(3) Layer the rolls on top of each other in a bread tin and bake for the appropriate baking time.
*For added nutrition, we recommend eating this bread with Nutella

Invite your best girlfriends over with your scrumptious creation, or enjoy it all to yourself as you peruse Fall’s favorite fashion. And while you’re at it, include a couple of leopard print coffee or tea cups as well to set the mood.

Well there you have it. Which jungle creature do YOU identify with most this Season? Will it be tiger, zebra, reptile, or leopard? No matter which pattern you choose, we here at Posh at Play encourage you to be “fierce” and fabulous wherever your path takes you. You can be the “king” of your realm this year just like the rulers of the jungle, and no need to back down from what makes you YOU.
We want you to always remember to:
Be you, Be fabulous, and always Be feminine.

guess-marciano-spring-summer-2015-clothing02It’s time to show some skin! As we near the end of the Summer Season, it’s the last chance to show that glorious glow and dare to bare. This week’s blog focuses on “slit, slash, or cut out”- which one will YOU dare to try? We’ll show you this Season’s hottest styles and how to shape your body to rock the trends. Take a look below.

For just a hint of skin, let your leg go. The simplest way to show a little skin is with the slit skirt style. For work or play, this style is for you. Whether you prefer runway fashion designer’s Lanvin demure slit or iiJin’s more exposed style, you can easily rock this look. For the office or professional settings, pair your skirt with a chic lace body suit or cami and Bolero jacket. For evenings out, kick up your heels and combine with a dazzling metallic tank or leather lazer cut top. Check out our other favorite slit skirt options below.

Model Cara Delevingne rocks a white slit skirt from morning to evening. You can do the same by pairing with comfy sneakers or flat sandals by day and switching to chic stilettos for evening.

Check out our favorite slit skirt styles here:

Instead of a skirt, you could also go with a chic Summer side slit dress perfect over your swimsuit at the beach or paired with your favorite lace up wedges or strappy heels for nighttime. And when the chillier Season hits, simply layer a cozy leather jacket over your dress for perfect style and warmth.

Shop our favorite side slit floral dresses here:

Prefer slashed rather than slit? We’ve got you covered. You can definitely purchase your own “slashed top” or why not create your own DIY.

Check out our Posh at Play Facebook page to make your own just the way you want.

The “slashed tee” is easy to pair with your favorite shorts or jeans, or pencil skirt and pumps for a night out on the town.

Don’t just rely on tops. Why not rock a pair of slashed leggings or cropped jeans as well. Keep it classy by pairing with a solid color tank or silk blouse up top.

From Milly, to Issa, to Guy Laroche, this Season’s runway designers filled their collections with the cut-out “cold shoulder” trend. Flattering on every figure, show off your décolletage this Summer and try the look. Pair with your favorite jeans and sandals for daytime glam, and segue into the twilight hours by switching into a strappy pair of heels.

Get on the celebrity trend and try out the cut out dress look. From casual street to red carpet ready, from maxi to mini, anyone can rock this Summer style dress. Less revealing than a crop top, the cut out dress shows a little side or back skin without baring it all. You can easily throw it over your favorite swimsuit for a your last Summer days at the pool or beach and transition into the evening hours with a chic pair of heels or wedges.

Check out our favorite cut out dress choices below:
“Femi” White Lace Cut Out Netted Dress
“June” Green Cut Out Back Halter Maxi Dress

Somewhere between a bikini and one piece is the cut-out swimsuit for Summer. Baring just a little, this is the perfect “tummy”solution while at the pool or beach. Throw your slit skirt over for a Cabana lunch or cover up with a lace Kimono or tunic for a walk down the Boardwalk in style.

Check out our favorite swimsuit cover up finds:
“Azaria” White Lace Kimono
“Daisy” Black Lace Poncho
“Flights of Fancy” Purple Silk Strapless Top

If you dare to bare a little, be sure to keep skin glowing and wrinkle free. Make your own DIY soft skin scrub made from natural materials, free of harsh chemicals, and see skin transform in a matter of weeks.

Here’s what you’ll need:
Salt: sloughs off dry skin
Sugar: Great exfoliant, less harsh than salt
Baking Soda: Perfect for oily skin
Coffee Grounds: Eliminates stretch marks and cellulite
Honey: Perfect for sensitive skin; heals raw or irritated skin
Milk: The lactic acid soothes and hydrates
Coconut Oil: Contains Laurin acid to restructure skin and make it soft
Citrus Fruit: Natural exfoliator, eliminates dark spots
Chocolate: Contains antioxidants that protect your skin; reduces lines and wrinkles
Essential Oils: Detoxes and heals
Turmeric: powerful anti-inflammatory effects

RECIPE: 1 Cup Exfoliant + 1/2 Cup Liquid + 2-3 tablespoons fun add ins
Put the exfoliant in a bowl and add liquid slowly, stirring as you go. You want a consistency that you can scoop with your hand so don’t let the texture get too runny. Add optional add ins and mix again. Store in a container with tight fitting lid. You can easily double this recipe if you want to keep it on hand for awhile.Natural-Moisturizers

Now with your cut out style and fresh scrubbed skin, you are ready to ready to rock Summer’s favorite all natural body art style. “Henna”is a plant found and grown in South Asian and North African countries. It has been used since ancient time to color skin, hair, fingernails, leather, and wool. At the simplest, Henna is a paste made out of crushed leaves and twigs of henna plant. The paste can also be made from dried leaves of the plant by mixing it with hot water. When this paste is applied to skin (just like writing from a marker) and left for few hours, it leaves a orange to dark maroon stain in the skin which fades away in 7 to 14 days.

Search your local listings to get it professionally done, or click here for a tutorial on how to make and create your own at home: Henna Art.

So whether you prefer slit, slash, or cut out, dare to show a little skin in the few remaining weeks of Summer. Get out and enjoy the Seasonal sun and let your skin glow before being tucked in for Fall. We’d love to hear from you our readers on which style YOU will dare to try? Comment to us.

And remember no matter which style you choose,
Be YOU, Be Fabulous and always Be Feminine.

As all eyes follow the best athletes in the world this week at 2016’s Summer Olympics, let’s focus on the exotic locale where the Games are being held this year. While most of us will only be able to visit Rio de Janeiro through the comfort of our home, we can still embrace the culture and fashion of what the city and country have to offer. Take a look at our favorite Brazilian tips below and dare to be a little “exotic”this Summer.

Nothing says “Rio” more than a beautiful floral. Echoing the lush vegetation of the city, why not try a chic cropped floral “capri” pant, flattering on any figure and perfect from the pool to party. Let your hair loose, and keep your style simple with your favorite flat sandals and minimal jewelry.

Take a look at our top Summer floral cropped picks:
“Whimsical” Mint Green Floral Capri Pants

“Exclusive” Brushed Printed Capri Pants

Another signature “Brazilian” theme is bright intricate patterns. From buildings to art to fashion, residents aren’t afraid to go big and go bold.

Forgo “boring” plain neutrals and spice things up this Summer with a comfy AND lightweight pair of patterned silk or cotton shorts. We like the  breathable material that not only feels great against the skin but is also fashionable as well. Pair your shorts with a simple white Tee for daytime and a billowy blouse and strappy heels for nighttime fun.

Hit the beach or pool with the girls this Summer in a silk chiffon Caftan dress, just like the Brazilians do. The lightweight material allows skin to breathe while providing the perfect shield against the sun’s hot rays.

These are our favorite “Brazilian” print picks:
“Brea” Yellow Print Silk High Low Dress
“Beach” Black and White Silk Chiffon Dress

We also like a pretty patterned maxi skirt paired with a Tee tied at the waist or your favorite crop top, perfect for any Summer occasion . Be sure to stick to form fitting tops, tanks, and camisoles to avoid too much bulk.

Check out our favorite printed maxi skirt patterns:
“Emily” Printed Pink Maxi Skirt
“Sailing Away” Patterned Chiffon Skirt
“Zebra” Printed Maxi Skirt

In addition to intricate patterns, the Brazilians also favor bold colors. They are proud of their heritage, the culture, and colors of their cities, and are not afraid to show it. .

Don’t just blend into the background this Season- show off your “true colors” and choose your favorite brightly colored tank, top, or tunic.

Which one of these is YOUR favorite color to choose from?
“Cabana Sanctuary” Fuchsia Mayan Tunic Top
“Zephyr” Purple and Coral Patterned Came

Let’s not leave out how the Brazilians adorn themselves. Coming from a country rich in tradition, religion, and culture, the women tend to wear what is meaningful to them. The day and night jewelry style is different- almost invisible during the day with bold statement pieces worn at night.  Take a look at our three favorite jewelry style you can try this Summer:

Quintessential to the culture, Brazilians love to adorn themselves in rich colors and bold statement pieces. Popularized by Carmen Miranda in the 40’s, the style is still favored today. Look for bold beaded chest necklaces, ornate cuff bracelets, and oversized finger rings.

Since oftentimes the streets can be unsafe, Brazilian women steer away from precious gems and diamonds in favor of brushed gold rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. Why not get on this year’s “body chain” Summer trend and look for a brushed gold look to pair over your favorite swimsuit. Body chains can also be fashioned over tanks for daytime glam and slip dresses for nighttime.

Due to safety and the richness of the Amazonian rainforest, bio jewelry has an important place in Brazil. Eco friendly jewelry is made with natural materials, such as wood, seeds, bark, and stones. Many designers collaborate with various indigenous tribes as gatherers and suppliers of materials. Their lifestyles and culture provide inspiration to create unique natural jewelry while protecting the environment as well. Save the Earth and stay fashionable this Summer with your own one-of-a-kind eco friendly jewelry piece.

Whether you opt for fun in the sun or tan in a bottle, be sure to taint that skin for a true  sun-kissed bronze glow. FUN FACT: Most Brazilian women bleach their body hair baby blonde, regardless of the color of the hair on their heads. Bleached body hair shines in the sun, making you look luminous in a way bronzer or body oil never could. So, whether you choose to go all the way with Sol de Janeiro Golden Body Veil bleach system or do it the natural way, be sure to soak up a little sun this Season.

Show off that tan with our favorite bold swimsuit picks:
“Bollywood” Blue Beaded String Bikini
“Flight of Fancy” Purple Ruffle Swimsuit
“Guilty Pleasures” Coral Lace Crochet Bikini

From hair product to body lotions to beverages, the Brazilians love their coconuts. As locals will attest, coconut oil has the ability to save your skin and your hair from the drying effects of the sun and salt water….plus, the smell. See last week’s blog for our favorite coconut oil for body nourishment, and we suggest Gloss Moderne’s coconut oil mask for luscious locks. Or, make your own DIY fresh coconut leave in hair conditioner, used before your daily shampoo and conditioner routine. See our Facebook page for the recipe.

Speaking on coconut, don’t forget to include it into your daily eating routine. Health benefits include reducing cholesterol, killing harmful microorganisms, reducing fat, boosting energy, and warding off hunger cravings. To get you started, why not make this healthy Brazilian homemade coconut drink, delicious and nutritious:

*Serves 2*
3/4 cup coconut milk
1 can sweetened condensed milk
3 oz sparkling water
ice cubes
2 tablespoons shredded coconut

1. Mix the coconut milk, the condensed milk, and the water in a drink mixer or a blender.
2. Put the mixture in a pitcher.
3. Add the ice cubes to the pitcher and pour in glasses, and cover with the shredded coconut.
4) Serve and enjoy!
*Note: For an “adult beverage,” you can substitute the sparkling water for 2 shots Brazilian cachaça (cane vodka)

One of the Brazilians’ top favorite foods that has only recently become popular in America is acai fruit. From Starbucks’ Strawberry Acai Refresher to Sephora’s Sugar Acai Body Cream, everyone is starting to take note of this fruit’s benefits to every part of the body. Currently in the US, you can only get the fruit in the frozen freezer section of your local market. You can find the fruit currently at these stores:
Ralph’s, HEB, Earth Fare, Whole Foods Market, Giant Eagle, Stop & Shop, Wild Oats Natural Marketplace, Kroger, Bristol Farms, Vons, Sprouts Farmers Market, Costco Wholesale, CVS Stores, Wal-Mart, and Sam’s Club.

As you sit back and relax with your favorite ice cold drink watching the Olympic Games this week, adapt some our favorite Brazilian traditions this Summer. Just because you are not actually be there doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Rio culture. Wear pretty florals. Go bold in a bright tunic top. Nourish hair with a coconut mask. Try some Brazilian food. However you choose to embrace the Brazilian culture, alway remember that we here at Posh at Play want you to

Be You, Be Fashionable, and ALWAYS Be Feminine.

This week, the fashion world exploded with the Duchess of Cambridge’s slightly “daring” off the shoulder tailored look at the Museum of Natural History’s benefit in London. Flattering on all body types by accentuating the décolletage, you too can “class” up this silhouette. Take a tip from Kate and incorporate Summer’s favorite “off shoulder” style into your fashion wardrobe this Season.

Created by designer Barbara Casasola for her Spring 2016 collection, the pinstripe cream colored dress is the perfect cross between classy yet cool. The Duchess dressed things up with dainty dangle earrings and strappy heels, but you could easily pair this look with  sandals for lunch with the girls, or your favorite comfy sneakers for the perfect “Athleisure” look.

At the workplace, keep your off the shoulder dress sophisticated by accessorizing with skinny cotton pants and classic oxfords for all day comfort and style.

On another day, create a different outfit with your skinnies by pairing with a lightweight cotton lace off the shoulder top for perfect polish.

Great for work or play, streamline your look with all neutrals. Go with a cream colored knit top paired with wide leg “culottes,” making a fashion comeback this year.

Other neutral cropped pant styles we like:
“Rylie” Taupe Jogger Pants
“Margaux” Metallic Floral Capri Pants

Don’t limit your style to just black and white. Jazz things up with a pretty floral print off the shoulder blouse paired with your favorite skinny jeans, if appropriate. On other occasions, you can accessorize your top with a chic midi skirt or wide leg trousers for perfect sophistication.

Substitute your pants with a classy chic A line skirt for a fun, flirty look. Go all black in an off shoulder lace tunic and matching skirt, or switch things up in a “black and white” style with a white jacquard knit A line.

Another chic off the shoulder style that can be adapted to both work and “classy” events is Summer’s favorite romper.  Feel light and airy this Summer in a breezy white lace shorts set accessorized with nude colored sandals and handbag. Or, go with a  classic basic black style paired with minimal gold jewelry and a colorful handbag. Keep your look sophisticated by keeping hemlines longer for extra coverage, combining with classic handbags, jewelry, and shoes, and styling hair in a chic topknot, sleek pony, or loose curls carefully shaped in place.

Feeling a little daring? Go with a pretty printed cotton romper combined with solid colored accessorizes to streamline your look. From florals to Aztec to animal print, you’ll feel confident and polished in a whimsical print romper this Season.

Our Favorite Printed Jumpsuit Styles:

“Agne” Printed Cold Shoulder Tunic
“Ariana” Black Printed Blouse

Jimmy-Choo_Gala-Shot-1_1X2A6506_RGB_SMALLThrilled by the exotic? Waiting for your next getaway? Dreaming of Paris? Even if you can’t afford to vacation in luscious Morocco or romantic France this summer, take your own little “mini travel escape ” for a few minutes, and peruse the mysterious yet alluring foreign style inspirations for Spring 2016.

Surrounded by beautiful beaches, colorful tapestries, and exotic locales, the Mediterranean is full of rich heritage and intriguing culture. The influence can be seen in brightly colored pattern and print dresses, blouses, skirts, and pants, as well as sweeping, luscious fabrics.

Hot red and luscious pink prints derive from the colorful sunsets and intricate embellished patterns of Moroccan scarves, tapestries, and fabrics. Sizzle in a silky pink and purple printed maxi dress or try a pretty patterned halter dress paired with your favorite flat sandals.

b6f78414b3dc2ab35e8afa7cbf10e173The lifestyle is much less hectic and fast paced than other parts of the world. Moroccans enjoy a lunch break on the beach or dinner by the sea in their own brightly colored “cabanas” created by their own tapestries and scarves. Food of choice includes flavorful spices, bright fruits, fresh vegetables, and homemade pita bread.

From the mint hue in cropped floral capri pants to kelly green on printed silk blouse to neon color on  silk wide leg Palazzo pants, Moroccan nature’s favorite color is popular throughout Spring’s fashion lines. Earth green patterns influence prints from skirts, to swimwear, to blouses, to pants.

Echoing the natural beauty of the terrain, sellers in the popular Moroccan baazars utilize nature’s green, gold, and beige hues in the pottery, tapestries, and home decor. Earth green colors seep into the patterns and prints of Spring’s favorite fashion lines.

The beautiful yellow and blue patterns on the Mosque Hassan are just one of the many examples of the intricate architecture and rich design found in Morocco and across the Mediterranean. The people are proud of their heritage and culture, and take time to beautify their buildings as works of art.

Inspired by Moroccan tile print and architecture, get your own blue and yellow print flowy maxi dress this Spring.

It’s easy to get swept away in the mystery and natural beauty of the Moroccan culture in sweeping chiffon printed wide leg pants or coral colored pants, reminiscent of the desert sun.

Incorporate the beautifully patterned tapestries and silky scarves sold at Morocco’s favorite outdoor bazaars. Feel like your own “Queen of Sheba” in a printed jersey maxi or blue printed crepe de chine wide leg pants. Throw on a lace design poncho for perfect Moroccan style.

View on Paris

Across the sea, the Moroccan influence can be seen street style in Europe’s most romantic “City of Lights.” Rich in art, culture, music, film, and architecture, the Parisian woman combines the patterns of the Mediterranean with the sophistication of the metropolis.

This Spring, combine the world of Paris’s art, pop culture, and celebrity with influences of Moroccan lifestyles and femininity.

Celebrity and fashion icon Olivia Palermo perfectly portrays the quintessential Parisian woman’s style- classy in an effortless manner. A vintage A-line Moroccan-inspired print skirt easily pairs with a tailored top and black Bolero jacket or rabbit fur vest, mixing exotic patterns with classic silhouettes.

Parisians know how to rock Spring’s favorite romper in style. Incorporate the exotic ancient prints of Morocco with the trendy new styles of today in a blue printed romper roaming the streets of Paris.

And finally, around the world to America, combine the culture of Morocco and the romance of Paris with the trends of the vibrant city of Los Angeles.

With the trendy yet artistic vibe of the city, L.A. women combine the culture of the Mediterranean with the class of Paris to create a fresh, new style all their own. Trends are often started in the “City of Angels,” spreading across the States one by one.

From Sofia Vergara to Paris Hilton to Salma Hayek, vibrant Moroccan prints attract celebrities of all ages and fashion tastes. With designer style yet affordability, you too can dress like your favorite Hollywood star in a  Boho printed jersey knit maxi dress or go with a classic style in the printed jersey shift dress.

You’ll feel the mystic of Moroccan style as you relax poolside in a custom print sheath dress complemented by lace up Boho chic sandals.

Vacation in style with a colorful Moroccan inspired print maxi or flutter sleeve maxi with the pose of a Parisian lady.

And bring the fun to your own back yard like the Angelenos do. Entertain just like a celebrity with Moroccan tapestries and decor complemented by your own patterned, print dress. From Boho printed maxi dresses to classic shift silhouettes to floral cropped pants, there is a Mediterranean style to fit your personal taste.
