Over the weekend, the fashion industry celebrated one of the biggest and most important events of the year, the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards in New York City. Held at the posh Lincoln Center, fashion designers, models, celebrities, and editors from around the world converged to celebrate the accomplishments and highlights from this year’s fashion innovation. This week, we highlight our favorite looks spotted at the event for you to incorporate into your Summer wardrobe. You don’t have to be an “A List” celebrity or model to glam up your Summer style. Take a look at our top picks and start shopping the trends.
Nothing says classic cool more than a chic black jumpsuit, a perfect mix of trendy yet sophisticated. This Season channel your inner “Marlene Dietrich” and look for loose flare leg, tailored jumpsuits with a plunging neckline reminiscent for the 1930’s silhouette. Bella Hadid sizzles on the Red Carpet in a black jumpsuit from Misha Nonoo, styled perfectly with a slick parted bun, bright red lipstick, and dangle earrings for a delicate touch. Get a similar style with Liberty Garden’s new black lace and twill jumpsuit paired with classic black pointed toe pumps from Sam Edelman for a glam summer night. Chill during the day with embellished flat sandals and a Boho floppy hat from Free People.
One of this Summer’s most popular fabrics makes its way to the Red Carpet on Karen Elson in Katie Ermilio’s black sheer lace gown. From the Grammys to the Met Gala, sheer lace is all the rage with celebrities this Season. Get the celebrity’s similar look with Liberty Garden’s new black lace midi skirt paired with a lace top, Topshop’s black chunky ankle strap sandals and a white Lulu Townsend pearl clutch. Or go with Liberty Garden’s ivory lace A Line midi skirt with matching ivory muscle blouse for a clean, streamlined look. On casual days, pair your lace midi skirt with Liberty Garden’s loose ivory “flyaway” tank and Tory Burch flat leather sandals for easy, breezy Summer stye.
Put some “pop” in your Summer wardrobe with a bright cherry red dress. From designers Zac Posen to Michael Kors to Rosie Assoulin, bright red was a favorite color of the night at the CFDA Fashion Awards. Our favorite cherry red dress of the evening was Jason Wu’s on Julia Nobis. We loved the unique contrast of the delicate cami top paired with a more structured skirt complete with side slit for a hint of leg. Sizzle in style this summer with Hale Bob’s floor length silk charmeuse red maxi dress paired with black heels and a matching black clutch. Copy Julia Nobis’ natural look with a slick low ponytail, minimal neutral make up, and a swipe of MAC’s “Russian Red” lipstick, a favorite of celebrity make up artists. You are sure to turn heads and dazzle like a star on your next evening out on the town.
When picking a new formal dress this Summer, mix things up and go with this Season’s most popular bold multi- color floral pattern. Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, and her daughter Bee Shaffer show us how it’s done with colorful floral dresses from Diane von Furstenberg. We love the romantic flowing maxi dress contrasted against the more structured 50’s styled A line floral dress, both trending silhouettes for Summer 2015. Get your own look with Hale Bob’s floral printed jersey knit maxi dress paired with chunky heels and matching clutch. Your floral maxi can also go double duty by accessorizing with Prada flat slip-on sandals and a contrasting Betsey Johnson striped tote for casual days out or a walk on the beach.
One of our favorite looks of the evening was Karlie Kloss in Diane von Furstenberg’s polka dot maxi dress with bright red clutch. What a great way to bring one of this Season’s most popular patterns to evening wear. Get a similar look with a polka dot maxi dress from Swell paired with strappy heels for night and flat gold sandals for day. Go short with Hale Bob’s polka dot printed long sleeve dress perfect for a day at the beach or a garden party. You can even carry the polka dot trend to work with Hale Bob’s black and white blouse layered over Hale Bob’s white satin wide leg pants and Ivanka Trump black leather heels.
Another one of our favorite looks from the evening was Amanda Seyfried in Rodarte’s “mixed media” metallic dress. We loved the actress’s matching natural nude make up and T-strap heels to accentuate the colorful patterns on the dress. Get your own sequined dress with Hale Bob’s floral metallic dress with peplum paired with Steve Madden’s “Stecy” nude heels. We suggest following Amanda’s similar look by spritzing your locks with Tigi Catwalk Haute iron spray ,straightening your hair with T3’s Single Pass straightener, and finishing up with Urban Decay’s “Naked 2” neutral eyecolor palette. You’ll need your own Red Carpet as you step out in style this Summer.
Lastly, if sequins and patterns are too much for you, our favorite “minimalist” look of the evening was Victoria Beckham’s black maxi dress from her own line. Proving that basic can be beautiful, we love her classy cool, yet slightly tousled Red Carpet look. Her dress tells us that she appreciates the latest trends and fashions, yet her slightly messy low ponytail lets us know she doesn’t take herself too seriously. Get the celebrity’s similar style with Hale Bob’s black draped maxi dress, now on sale at the lowest price of the Season. Dress it up with Stuart Weitzman strappy heels and a Tory Burch black envelope clutch or go casual in flat sandals and a Boho floppy straw hat. Hurry and shop the style today while supplies last.
