The cool, crisp air of fall along with the changing shades of falling leaves all signal the beginning of the holiday season. I can’t even believe that it is only 1 week away from Halloween, crazy!. We thought this would be the perfect week to treat you to some of our ideas for maximizing fall fun, while at the same time giving you some tricks for staying stylish during every activity. VISIT A FALL FESTIVAL 

Fall festivals are always a fun way to expose yourself to some down home, local flavor and an excellent excuse to indulge in those carbohydrate rich treats we do not allow ourselves anywhere else; can you say funnel cakes and deep fried oreo’s? When venturing into a haunted house, perusing a pumpkin patch, or opting for amusement park pandemonium one thing is for sure; comfort is key. BAKE EVERYTHING PUMPKIN

Now is the time to bake everything pumpkin. From breads, to pies, to cookies, to candy, to coffee, pumpkin is IN. We love The Bitter Side Of Sweet’s pumpkin popcorn balls. They’re perfect for children and adults this season.

INGREDIENTS

6 cups popcorn
1 (8 oz.) bag pumpkin spice marshmallows
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup chopped pecans.

INSTRUCTIONS

In a large microwavable bowl. Melt marshmallows for 1 minute on high.
Stir. Then add in cinnamon and stir again.
Add in popcorn and stir.
Coat hands with cooking spray or butter and roll popcorn into balls.
Sprinkle with pecans and ENJOY!

With the People’s Choice Awards and the Golden Globes ceremonies already complete, it’s officially awards season in Hollywood. We must admit that our favorite part of the award shows are the actresses’ Red Carpet arrivals. We get a hint of the new year’s trending fashions by viewing what the designers are dressing their favorite celebrities in and in turn, what the actresses are loving to wear. While this year’s Golden Globes award ceremony provided surprise wins and losses, designers this year played it safe on the red carpet with trending Spring styles from the 2016 runways.  Take a look below see how you can dress just like your favorite actress from this year’s Golden Globes.

BRIGHT YELLOW

Our favorite stunner of the evening goes to Jennifer Lopez in a sunny yellow asymmetrical creation from designer Giambattista Valli. Not only is the bright color a major trend on the runways this Season, but also the asymmetrical skirt is this year’s silhouette style of choice as we mentioned in last week’s “New Year, New You: Top Fashion Trends for Spring 2016.” While others played it safe in neutral hues, Ms. Lopez took a chance in a colorful tone, complementing her bronze skin and accentuating her assets. This Spring, take the plunge just like the entertainer and look for fashion items in sunny yellow. Get a similar look as featured above with Mac Duggai’s lemon colored open back evening gown, perfect for your next formal Spring event. The actress shows that simple and elegant are always in style, yet livens up her look by choosing a deep blue hue rather than rely on evening’s predictable black. NEW YEAR, NEW YOU: TOP FASHION TRENDS FOR 2016

As we head into a New Year, it is time to start looking at our favorite fashion styles trending on the runways for 2016. While some looks from 2015 are still with us such as Boho and vintage 70’s, designers are paving the way for new, bold fashion statements for this new Season. Take a look at our favorite fashion finds, and start your 2016 off with a brand new wardrobe.

ROSE QUARTZ AND SERENITY BLUE

For the first time ever, the experts at Pantone announced not one but two “colors of the year” for 2016. Executive director Leatrice Eiseman states, “With our hectic lives and the frenzy around us, there is an increasing demand for tranquility. Wearing both of these hues at once is like returning to the weightlessness of your youth. The combination of a cool and warm color brings a sense of balance.” We couldn’t agree more which is why we list these two colors as our top favorite trend for this year. Keep it simple by pairing your favorite light blue jeans with a rose pink robe coat from Steve Madden, accessorized with matching pumps from Calvin Klein and a patent leather handbag from Ted Baker. Or, look for blouses, skirts, and dresses with the rose and blue colors combined into one pattern.
