As we head into a New Year, it is time to start looking at our favorite fashion styles trending on the runways for 2016. While some looks from 2015 are still with us such as Boho and vintage 70’s, designers are paving the way for new, bold fashion statements for this new Season. Take a look at our favorite fashion finds, and start your 2016 off with a brand new wardrobe.
ROSE QUARTZ AND SERENITY BLUE
For the first time ever, the experts at Pantone announced not one but two “colors of the year” for 2016. Executive director Leatrice Eiseman states, “With our hectic lives and the frenzy around us, there is an increasing demand for tranquility. Wearing both of these hues at once is like returning to the weightlessness of your youth. The combination of a cool and warm color brings a sense of balance.” We couldn’t agree more which is why we list these two colors as our top favorite trend for this year. Keep it simple by pairing your favorite light blue jeans with a rose pink robe coat from Steve Madden, accessorized with matching pumps from Calvin Klein and a patent leather handbag from Ted Baker. Or, look for blouses, skirts, and dresses with the rose and blue colors combined into one pattern. We like Hale Bob’s long sleeve blue and pink tie dye shirt dress combined with Kristin Cavallari’s flats for daytime play or pair with Nina’s “Vinnie” crystal embellished ankle strap sandals to dance the night away. However you choose to style, “keep the peace” by including the rose quartz and serenity blue color combo into your daily wardrobe this year.
ASYMMETRICAL HEMLINE
Taking a tip from model Gigi Hadid, our second favorite 2016 trend is the asymmetrical hemline. From blouses to skirts to chic hair bobs, this Season it’s cool to leave the straight and narrow. Start with Liberty Garden’s black suede asymmetrical mini skirt paired with a crisp button down, layered ultra suede long sleeve sweatshirt, and black booties from Vince Camuto. A third favorite trend that is having a revival for 2016 is the “cold shoulder” blouse. Another “revival” we are looking forward to trying this year is a throwback to the 70’s. From flare jeans to overalls to jackets, get groovy this Season in head-to-toe 70’s style. Start with a pair of AC Collection’s medium wash flare jeans and top with Current/Elliott’s denim short sleeve shirt and tan leather clogs from Kork-Ease. Go with a different look in Hudson Jeans’ denim jean shirt dress paired with fringe knee high boots from Isola and matching fringe tote from Elizabeth and James. If you are feeling daring this year, try one of the runways favorites this Season with a one piece denim overall outfit. We like the skinny cropped style from Current/Elliott or go full vintage 70’s in a pair of wide leg denim overalls from Free People. Whether or not you lived through the 1970’s, now is the perfect time to relive the iconic era in fashion.
RUFFLES
Our last two favorite fashion finds for 2016 will bring out the “girly” side of you this Spring. After all, what’s wrong with showing a little feminine flare? From Balmain to Alexander McQueen , designers filled the runways this year with ruffles everywhere. Look for luscious ruffling on dresses and skirts like Lauren Conrad’s blush pink frock pictured above, or go with a more tailored style with ruffle trimmed blazer jackets and peplum tops.
